Abstract

The effluent wastewater of the hospital has certain physically, chemically, biologically characteristics. The aim of study were:1) to know the content of BOD, TSS and Coliform MPM at wastewater processing using a compact system at RSUD Prof. Dr. W.Z. Johannes Kupang and 2) to analyze the difference between BOD, TSS, and MPN Coliform content before and after processing. The sample of the study was part of the wastewater effluent released by RSUD Prof. Dr. Johannes that was taken at the inlet before processing and at the outlet after disinfection processing. Tree samples of effluent were taken daily at 10 o’clock am. Inlet and outlet for 7 days. So the total number of samples was 42. The volume of each wastewater effluent sample was 250 ml. There were tree parameters that had been analyzed, those were BOD, TSS and MPN Coliform content. The collected data were analyzed statically using Kolmogorov Smirnov test to know the normality of the data and t-test analysis was used to know whether there was the difference between before and after processing for the three selected parameters. The “Keputusan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup No. 58 Tahun 1995” was used as a standard in valuing those three parameters.

Abstract

The research is aimed at knowing or finding out the degree of Escherichia coli contamination on water and food at some eating places in the working region of Puskesmas Oepoi, Kota Kupang in 2009. This research is a descriptive observation of nature in the form of a cross-sectional design. There are three samples of eating places that have been determined according to the so-called purposive sampling. 15 samples of food and water for food preparation of the same amount have been used in this research. The use of such sample materials is based upon the recommendation by the International Commission of Microbiological Spesification on Food. Method of laboratory examination has been employed to measure all variables. The result of the laboratory examination on the samples of food indicates that the degree of Escherichia coli contamination in the food served in the three eating places is high. The same analysis is true with the water preserved for food preparation, i.e. the degree of contamination of Escherichia coli is high.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to investigate the relationship between the lighting and working shift, and the fatigue work of the nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008. It is observational-analytic research by using the design of the cross-sectional study. The population of this research is all 10 nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao. This population is also a sample of this research. This research applies Phi-Coefficient of Association as the statistical test to test the relationship between lighting and fatigue work, and also to Contingency Coefficient Test to test the relationship between shift work and fatigue work. The result of the research shows that there is a relationship between lighting and fatigue work of nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008 with p = 0,033. Moreover, there is a relationship between shift work and fatigue work of nurses in the Emergency Unit at RSUD Baa Sub District the Regency of Rote Ndao in 2008 with p = 0,040.

Abstract

The ISPA still remains an important issue, since it caused deaths on babies and infants at about one of four deaths occurred. Therefore, the Program Pemberantasan Penyakit ISPA (P2ISPA) must be conducted on Puskesmas level. The effort on the ISPA Eradication Program in Indonesia was launched in 1984 alongside the WHO’s global program. In order to achieve better implementation on it, good management is needed to reach the desired goals. The aim of this study is to describe: 1) the planning function of the program; 2) the organizational function of the program; 3) the implemental function of the program; 4) the supervising function of the program. The type of study is descriptive research with a qualitative approach method. The population is 15 officers of Puskesmas Pasir Panjang that also taken as a sample. There is a supervising function though with a minimum scope of the service area, as observed, and only at the Puskesmas by the Dinas Kesehatan Kota and no proper evaluation program. It is necessary to improve the planning function, the implementing and supervising function, a continuous effort on information spreading, and cross-field networking.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the impact of a combination of discussion with a simulation method on mothers behaviour towards providing a nutritional diet for children under three years old at Kelurahan Karang Siri Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan. The subjects of this research are mothers of children under three years with malnutrition in Kelurahan Karang Siri Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan. Data were collected and calculated by a proportion formula of 20 %. The total number of respondents in this study is 22 mothers. This study used a quasi-experimental design with one group pre-tested post-tested. The data was gathered using questionnaire and interviews and the result was analyzed by Wilcoxon (ά = 0.05). Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference in mothers‘ knowledge for providing nutritional diet for children under three years old after combining the discussion and simulation method (p=0.000 < 0.05). This study found that the combination of discussion and simulation method had an impact on changing behaviour among mothers in providing nutritional diet for children under three years old at Kelurahan Karang Siri Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan in 2009.

Abstract

Health region regulation is a legal instrument be given to region government to organize health care for people. In the formation of health region regulation, sociological judgment is needed so health region regulation can agree with health region condition. This research is aimed to know data and useful information on health region regulation in Belu Regency. Descriptive research type with a qualitative approach. The sites of research are Region Secretariat of Belu Regency, Health Official of Belu Regency and Assembly at Belu Regency. Samples are gotten according to purposive sampling. The result of the research shows that stakeholder comprehension and data availability have good, stakeholder support to data and information of health region regulation not good because the health regulation has formed with its substance only related with health service retribution and health institution. Stakeholder perception to data and information of health region regulation have good, be seen from stakeholder comprehension to data and information. Be expected to sites having interest information of health region regulation in order to maximize of data and information useful in formation health region regulation so it’s produced can have a role to increase the standard of public health in Belu Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the pattern of breastfeeding, supplementary feeding, and parenting in children under two years before being diagnosed with malnutrition in hospitals Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang. The descriptive research design with retrospective studies exploring information from parents about breastfeeding patterns, supplementary feeding pattern and parenting, practised before their children were diagnosed with malnutrition. The population in this study was all children aged 0-23 months, whereas the sample was children 0-23 months, who suffered from malnutrition. The results for breastfeeding patterns showed that 67% did not give colostrums, 100% did not give exclusive breastfed, 40% breasting infants <6x/day, 100% breastfed the children <20 minutes, 100% gave exclusive breastfeeding </> 6 months and 40 % breastfeeding the infants while working or sleeping. The pattern of supplementary feeding practices showed that 100% of parents gave supplementary food 3x/day, 100% using a spoon, but did not wash their hands first, 100% gave their children the supplementary food at age <6 months, 100% gave the food orderly. The parenting pattern showed that 100% of children did not care by their biological mothers, 100% of fathers did not participate in parenting.

Abstract

Obesity, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension in patient with renal kidney disorder increase the risk of renal failure which is characterized by decrease in the filtration capacity of kidney (glomerulus filtration pace). If the filtration capacity below 15 cc per minute, patient should had take hemodialysis for survival. In addition, it is important for them to control their eating pattern. The objective of the study would be to know food consumption pattern of patient with kidney failure taking ambulatory hemodialysis. This is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Population was patient with renal failure undergoing ambulatory hemodialysis in RSUD dr. Pirngadi Medan. The size of sample was 55 of patients taken purposively. The data of food consumption pattern were collected by means of food frequency questionnaire and 24 hours food recall which was conducted two times. The result showed that most of the patients aged between 54 and 62 years old. Food consumption patterns─type, quantity, and frequency─were categorized as ‘not good’. Also, potassium and sodium intakes were in the ‘not good’ category. In general, the daily water intake of the patient was in excessive amount.

Abstract

South Nias District which natural disaster in the year 2005 ago in the form of earthquake at 8.6 Richter scale still including district with severe nutritional status children including baby which still was high. In the year 2005, there was about 11.72% suffer malnutrition baby and even in the year 2007 counted 32% baby of including malnutrition category. This study in May until October 2008, analyzed descriptively with design study was cross sectional. The chosen study location was services-region of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) of Lolomatua, PHC of Amandraya and PHC of Teluk Dalam. Population study was entire family owning baby with amount of sample entirely counted 364 babies. The study instruments (equipments) were using question worksheet, Weight-Baby Instrument, Long-Grader Instrument. Data was processing through editing process, coding, and tabulating. Data analysis done seen number from each every result-studied, was later then was description.The result showed that only 11.5% baby given by colostrums. The nutritional status pursuant to Weight/Age showed that 52.5% including in mild category, 36.5% in normal status, and 6.3% in severe status.

Culture is one of the factors that affect ones’ health. The writer reviews the difference of culture in identifying health, social-cultural effect at psychology disorder and abnormal behaviour, the effect of socio-cultural on physical health and medication process of disease, culture difference in healing disease, cultural difference in psychotherapy and psychological measurement.
