Tanjungpura Journal of Nursing Practice and Education (TJNPE) is an open access international journal (e-journal) which publishes the scientific works for nurse practitioners and researchers. Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: In terms of the health behavior of students in the Tanjungpura University Dormitory area, it was found that the majority of students did light activities such as frequently using eating and drinking utensils at the same time, sanitation every 2/3 weeks, inappropriate disposal of waste water and untidy rooms arrangement with humidity and dry room temperature which might cause itching/redness of the skin, fever, flu and cough. The behavior patterns and habits that the researcher found did not meet health standards which could lead to diseases if they did not maintain the cleanliness of the environment in the area.Purpose: This research was conducted to determine the relationship between health behavior and the risk of environmental-based diseases among students at the Pontianak Untan dormitoryMethods: This research was descriptive quantitative data study with cross sectional design which was conducted from May to August 2020 using 2 questionnaire instruments Likert and Guttman scale. The research sample consisted of 104 student respondents.Results: There was a relationship between health behavior and the risk of environmental-based diseases in the area of Tanjungpura University Dormitory Pontianak with a statistical test result p value of 0.000 where the majority of respondents were 20-22 years old and a year length of stay. Respondents lived on the 1st floor and the average number of residents in 1 room was 4 peopleConclusion: Health behavior had a strong influence on health status, daily eating and drinking habits which did not meet health standards and led to diseases.  Keywords: health behavior, environmental-based disease, students, dormitories     ABSTRAKLatar Belakang: perilaku kesehatan mahasiswa di wilayah Asrama Rusunawa Untan ditemukan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa melakukan aktivitas ringan, sering menggunakan perabot makan dan minum secara bersamaan, sanitasi dibersihkan 2/3 minggu sekali, air limbah yang dibuang tidak pada tempatnya serta keadaan kamar yang tidak tertata rapi dengan kelembaban suhu ruang yang kering sehingga dapat menimbulkan gatal-gatal/kemerahan pada kulit, demam, flu dan batuk. Pola perilaku dan kebiasaan yang peneliti temukan tidak memenuhi standar kesehatan inilah yang dapat memicu timbulnya penyakit apabila tidak menjaga kebersihan lingkungan didaerah tersebut.Tujuan: penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan perilaku kesehatan terhadap risiko penyakit berbasis lingkungan pada mahasiswa di Asrama Rusunawa Untan PontianakMetode: penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif data deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional yang dilakukan pada Bulan Mei sampai Agustus 2020 menggunakan 2 instrumen kuesioner skala Likert dan Guttman. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 104 responden mahasiswa.Hasil: ada hubungan antara perilaku kesehatan terhadap risiko penyakit berbasis lingkungan di wilayah Asrama Rusunawa Untan Pontianak dengan nilai p hasil uji statistik sebesar 0,000 dimana mayoritas responden berusia 20-22 tahun, lama tinggal selama 1 tahun, responden tinggal di lantai 1, dan rata-rata jumlah penghuni dalam 1 kamar sebanyak 4 orang.Kesimpulan: perilaku kesehatan memiliki pengaruh yang kuat terhadap status kesehatan dan kebiasaan makan serta minum sehari-hari sehingga jika tidak memenuhi standar kesehatan tersebut dapat memicu timbulnya penyakit.  Kata Kunci: perilaku kesehatan, penyakit berbasis lingkungan, mahasiswa, asrama

Abstract

 Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires continuous self-care. Diabetes that is often not controlled can lead to complications and death. In increasing self-care behavior, there are several factors that influence, one of which is self-efficacy and spousal support.Method: This cross-sectional study involved 51 respondents, selected through a purposive sampling method. Instruments used include a set of questionnaires of Diabetes Management Self Efficacy (DMSE), Spousal Support, and Summary of Diabetes Self Care Activities (SDSCA). Spearman’s test was used for statistical analysis.Result: Aged 56-60 years and > 60 years (25.5%), female (66.7%), high school education (43.1%), housewives 49.0% and long suffered DM 1-5 years (60.8%). Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that the level of self-efficacy was P value 0.000 (<0.05) and partner support was P value 0.000 (<0.05).Conclusion: There was an association between self-efficacy and spousal support with self-care behavior in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Spousal support, self-care behavior, self-efficacy
