The development of science and technology in agriculture, has been instrumental in increasing the production of various agricultural commodities. But climate change is also uncertain world led to decreased agricultural productivity. World energy crisis resulted in higher prices of agricultural commodities due to competition between food and energy are higher. Efforts to utilize biomass (agricultural products) has started a lot of research, not only as raw material for bioenergy, but also in an attempt to exploit agro-products into valuable economic products, and realize clean production in agro-industry.

Abstract

Oil palm fronds and leaves are wastes of oil palm plantations which are abundantly available in Indonesia and contain polyphenolic compounds which have high economic potential and health value. However, the potential for polyphenols from oil palm leaf extract (OPLE), which has antioxidant activity, has not been utilized optimally until now. In this research, an antioxidant food supplement from OPLE which is rich in polyphenolic compounds was developed. OPLE was prepared using ethanol as a solvent and concentrated by vacuum evaporation, then separated by liquid-liquid column chromatography and identified by LC-MS. The total phenolic yield of the ethanol extract of palm leaves contained was higher phenolic content than the hexane extract, while the phenolic content and antioxidant content of the oldest leaf were higher than the 17th leaf. Separation of the active antioxidant ingredients was carried out by liquid-liquid column chromatography with chloroform eluent: methanol = 4: 1 v/v which is expected to separate the active compounds. The content of flavonoids contained in this fraction is 6-Methoxy-2-[2-(3'-methoxyphenyl) ethyl] chromone. Biotransformation using tannase enzyme produced the increase of flavonoid content and antioxidant of oil palm extracts. Keywords : antioxidant, biotransformation, immunomodulator, OPLE, supplement

Abstract

The selection of agro-industry location is essential in establishing, growing, and relocating agro-industrial systems for all forms of product development. In this regard, white copra has displayed a great economic potential due to export demand. To response this challenge, Indragiri Hilir Regency in Riau Province might become the most promising area since the location is lack of agroindustrial activity. Such condition leads to a excessive supply of coconut, which is in turn, causing the low price. This work aimed determine the best location for developing agroindustry for edible white copra based on multiple criteria. According to the findings, this research successfully created a new integration SCOR with Fuzzy AHP based on a multiple-criteria approach. At the first and second level, each option has equal rate of importance for each attribute and metric, while at the third level, corresponding to the highest importance, is the adaptability for increased shipping, procurement cost, days for coconut inventory, days for edible white copra stock. The fourth level, also corresponding to the highest importance, includes standard conformity, transportation facility, and the percentage of orders with the correct content. Based on the analysis, the locations showing the highest to the lowest importance were Tembilahan Hulu (0.194), Tempuling (0.152), Batang Tuaka (0.160), Kempas (0.118), Kuala Indragiri (0.100), Tembilahan (0.100), Teluk Belengkong (0.087), Pelangiran (0.080), and Enok (0.072). Abstract

Coconut is an agricultural product that has great potential to be used as a basic ingredient for making various products. However, the growth of the coconut agro-industry in Indonesia has not yet met expectations. Currently, the number of agro-industries and their derivatives is limited. The same applies to the coconut agro-industry in the Pangandaran Regency, where the number of such industries is still very small. As one of the major coconut-producing regions in West Java, the Pangandaran Regency has only one large-scale coconut agro-industry, while the rest fall into the micro-, small-, and medium-sized categories. Therefore, the objective of this research were to identify the factors influencing the development of the coconut agro-industry in the Pangandaran Regency and to analyze the the influence of each of these factors. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to identify the influential factors. PCA is based on a multitude of factors affecting coconut agro-industry development, necessitating the grouping of these factors for further analysis. The results of this study reveal that four factors that support the development of the coconut agro-industry: products with a 24.5% influence level, government and community support at 16.9%, regional potential at 10.6%, and investment and seedlings at 9.6%. These four supporting factors cumulatively accounted for 62% of the influence. Meanwhile, there are also four inhibiting factors: primary capital with a 20.2% influence level, infrastructure at 17.9%, government policies at 17.7%, and socio-economic factors at 13.9%. Abstract

Mocaf is one of the leading agrotechnopreneurship products in Jember District. As a business activity, mocaf agrotechnopreneurship development is faced with uncertainties that can lead to unwanted risks. This study aimed to manage risk in the development of mocaf agrotechnopreneurship so that it can become a reference for people in Jember District in developing their business. The methods used for risk management in this study included the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) approach for risk identification, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) for risk assessment, fishbone diagrams for risk evaluation, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Pugh methods for risk mitigation. This study shows that there are many identified potential risks in developing mocaf agrotechnopreneurship in Jember District, some of which are critical risks. Based on the criticality matrix analysis, three main risks have been obtained in developing mocaf agrotechnopreneurship, including perishable raw materials, low public knowledge about mocaf, and increasing prices of cassava as a raw material. Evaluation regarding the causes of the three risks includes human factors, methods, facilities, and the environment. Risk mitigation results show that the strategy that can be applied is to set particular specifications for raw materials to deal with perishable raw materials, conduct education through various media to increase public knowledge, and establish partnerships with farmers or collectors to overcome rising raw material prices. Abstract

Tofu is one of the products produced mainly by small and medium industries (SMEs). Along with the production of tofu by SMEs, there are many environmental problems. The industry's main ecological problems are waste management, efficient use of materials, water, and energy, and emissions generated during production. One solution that can be done to solve these problems is through the application of the circular economy concept. This research aimed to characterize the tofu production process, identify problems and analyze the potential application of the circular economy concept for the sustainable development of the tofu industry. The research was conducted through field observation and literature study. The research data were processed, analyzed, and presented in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results of the study show that the circular economy concept that can be adopted in the tofu industry A, B, and C is the utilization of solid waste in the form of tofu dregs as food ingredients (nuggets, tempe gembus, shredded and soy sauce), semi-finished foodstuffs (in the form of dregs flour which can be used as raw material for food processing such as crackers, pastries, and brownies), and as animal feed. Circular economy alternatives are analyzed by considering economic, environmental and social feasibility. Alternatives that are feasible and applicable to the tofu industry A, B, and C are washing soybeans in stages to reduce water use, tofu dregs are processed into tempe gembus or other products, cooking soybean porridge with boiler heating and cooking with a steam system, and liquid waste (whey) can be utilized as raw material for nata de soya, biogas and liquid fertilizer. Abstract

Business competition is getting tougher, making business idea owners vying to produce high quality products. One aspect that determines the quality of the products produced is the selection of manufacturing raw materials. The objective of this study was to identify the most suitable sugarcane suppliers with a set of criteria and sub-criteria. Supplier evaluation is required for the acquisition of sugarcane raw materials. Geographical factors, quality, performance history, impression, capacity, and delivery are all taken into account as evaluation criteria. In this study, AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) were used to determine the order of preference of sugarcane suppliers, with AHP assigning different probability values to each criterion and TOPSIS directing customers towards the most reliable supplier. Supplier 1 has a preference value of 0.5038, Supplier 2 has a value of 0.4258, Supplier 3 has a value of 0.2931, Supplier 4 has a value of 0.5686, and Supplier 5 has a value of 0.1715. Abstract

DN Tofu Factory is a food industry for tofu products. The company’s main problem is a defect product in October-December 2021 with an average of 7.01%. The purpose of research was to reduce the failure of production in use of the methods of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). The result of DPMO (Defect per Million Opportunities) calculation is 17500 with a sigma level of 3.6084. Based on the FMEA calculations, two potential causes of failure from the highest perceived value of the RPN (Risk Priority Number), namely that workers do not use the full clothing attributes during the production process with an RPN value of 294 and workers did not pay attention to pressing time with an RPN value of 252. FTA analysis results shows two basic causes of problem, namely workers do not use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) with a probability of 0.24 and that no tools are available to measure standard time with a probability of 0.2. The proposed improvements implemented by observing the GMP aspect (Good Manufacturing Practice) are to use digital timer, make a tool cleaning form, and make hand-washing posters, smoke free, a restriction on eating and drinking. There is a descrease in the value of DPMO to 16500 with sigma level of 3.6321 after implementation. Abstract

Blue swimming crab is a marine product commodity that has high economic value in Indonesia with a capacity of 47,895 kg/day, so there is a potential for shell waste of 25,187 kg/day distributed along Indonesia’s coastline. This shows that there is a high economic potential related to the increase in added value of crab shell waste. Shell waste is much needed by the fertilizer, chitin/chitosan and animal feed industries, but currently the quality of shell waste is not suitable and causes environmental pollution. This project was aimed at increasing the added value of crab shell waste which currently scattered, has various qualities and capacities, and need multi-stakeholder involvement. The solution developed was a collaborative business model in the form of TPLCT that has economic value, has a quality that is suitable for the shell processing industry, has an easy and efficient process, there is information transparency, and reduces environmental pollution. The prototype validation results show that the solution design provided is accepted by partners (APRI), stakeholders, and can answer existing problems. Based on the results of the study it can also be concluded that TPLCT is feasible from a financial perspective with criteria for NPV > 0 (Rp 201,257,103), IRR > BRI Retail SBDK (8.25%), namely 14.67%, B/C Ratio > 1 (1.3), and payback period < assuming a project age of 20 years (4.93 years). The selling price of dry shells increased for the shell, swimming legs, claws and other parts respectively Rp 1456/pcs, Rp 7573/kg, Rp 3786/kg, and Rp 2446/kg. Abstract

The milk processing industry is a company engaged in the processing of pure milk into processed products, such as pasteurized and homogenized milk. Efforts are being made to guarantee the quality of the milk product is of good quality, safe, and in accordance with the quality standards expected by consumers, the processing business unit requires an appropriate quality management system; one of which is through the application of the concept of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The objective of this study was to assess the food safety of pasteurized milk production in relation to the adoption of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the milk processing sector in Central Java. The method used were to collect data directly (interviews and observations), collect data indirectly (literature study, documentation and data), and carry out direct practice activities. Observations were made based on the Regulation of the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 75/M-IND/PER/7/2010 concerning Guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) covering 18 concepts, namely: location, building, sanitation facilities, machinery and equipment, materials, supervision of processes, final products, laboratories, employees, packers, product labels and descriptions, storage, maintenance and sanitation programs, transportation, documentation and disassembly, training, product recalls, and implementation of guidelines. The results of the study show that it can be concluded that CV CN has complied or complied with the principles and procedures for the correct processing method and has been declared very satisfactory and declared feasible. Abstract

Palmyra fruit (Borassus flabellifer L.) contains active compounds and nutritional content that can maintain and improve the quality of processed goat milk products. The objective of this research was to analyze the antioxidant activity and physical characteristics of goat's milk pasteurized using palmyra fruit. A completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments with 3 replications was used in this research with parameters of antioxidant activity, viscosity and pH. The number of panelists in organoleptic testing was 25 people. Treatments with the addition of palmyra fruit percentage of the total volume of milk made were 0%, 10%, 12%, 14%, and 16% (w/v). The addition of palmyra fruit to pasteurized goat milk had an effect (P<0.01) on antioxidant activity, viscosity, sweetness, milk taste and palmyra taste, however, it had no effect on the pH value. The use of 10% palm fruit in the processing of pasteurized goat milk will produce the best quality based on antioxidant studies and its physical characteristics.
