Abstract

There are two ways to build a diskless network based on Linux operating system, Diskless Remote Boot in Linux (DRBL) and Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP). This research was done to both method by implement it to the computer network in Informatical Engineering’s laboratory of Tanjungpura University. This research aimed to build a diskless network by using both method, DRBL and LTSP, then compare the server performance, in this case is the comparison of processor and memory performance to find which method is best to use in Informatical Engineering’s laboratory of Tanjungpura University. This research using litterature study method and deep analysis about anything related to DRBL and LTSP so that it can be implement in the computer network in Informatical Engineering’s laboratory of Tanjungpura University. Those include schematic plan of the diskless network that will be use, how the DRBL and LTSP work and analysis to whom will be the user of the diskless network. Based on the research data, it can be seen that the processor’s work loadin the DRBL server in not affected by the use of application in client eventhough the number of the client connected to the DRBL was increasing. The opposite thing happened to the work load of DRBL server memory. There was an increasing of the memory work load as the use of many applications/software by the client in the DRBL network. In the LTSP, the processor’s work load was affected by the use of application in LTSP client. As the processor’s work load increased, the memory work load was also affected by the number of client and varian of application used by client. Problem founded in the DRBL was the client computer and the low VGA resource in the DRBL which can’t display the operating system desktop interface Ubuntu. Meanwhile in the LTSP, there was no problem with the client computer and the low VGA resource. Conslusion, the most suitable diskless network to be use in the Informatical Engineering’s laboratory of Tanjungpura University is LTSP method, compared to the DRBL, because the LTSP can optimize the client computer with low VGA resource which mostly used in Informatical Engineering’s laboratory of Tanjungpura University.

Abstract

Abstract - The information portal is one ofthe media in generating information topeople around the world. This theinformation portal is also implemented inthe Faculty of Engineering, University ofTanjungpura in order to fulfill theinformation needs of its academiccommunity. Various types of informationsystems that owned by the Faculty ofEngineering, University of Tanjungpurabecome a reason why this portal is verynecessary as a campus informationcenter. The media that used to inform theinformation would be better if it providestwo-way communication facilities so thatthe result of the information is not only ofby the managers but also of the public, especially the academic community of theFaculty of Engineering, UniversityTanjungpura. Email is one of the two-waycommunication media and this featurecan also be applied in the informationportal designed for web-based similarity. The amount of resources that requiredthe information needs to be maintained, itis becoming a basic necessity of a mirrorsystem that can be used to anticipateinterference with the resources so that theinformation can still be used even ifresources are experiencing interference. Keywords: the information portal, mirrorsystems, mail service, e-mail.

Abstract

Student monitoring is an activity undertaken by school and parents in monitoring their children at school. Each school have many different ways to monitor. Some of them do it manually and the others use computer and technology that helps them. Monitoring that carried out by Santo Paulus Pontianak such as the presence of student, extracurricular, and homework. They did it manually. The school provides information to parents by mail or telephone. Monitoring will goes well when there is technology that supports it. The technology that can be used to help monitor are RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and sms gateway. RFID is a technology taht uses radio waves to identify people or objects automatically. So that RFID is used as the student id card that can be identifu students while they are at school. And short message service (sms) gateway is a software that combines computer technology and mobile device technology, they are integrated with a database that has a specific purpose. Sms gateway also helps parents to know their children activities through the notification that send to their phone. The testing result show that the monitoring system can help their parents and school to monitor students.

Abstract

School Accreditation is the one of activity that BANSM (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Sekolah dan Madrasah) do often, one of many thing to do when School Accreditation happen is taking a conclusion based upon two opinion of accreditation officer, before, they are do this manually, this behaviour make Accreditation take too much time to finish.Furthermore, the data processing software didn’t save the data at the database, the software cannot provide a backup whenever there’s a situation which needed to take the data back. Thats why the web application of accreditation build to solve the problem, this web application could store and process the data of accreditation officer answer and make that data into a report, this web application also could make a conclusion based on knowledgebase, this process happens using forward chaining method.

Abstract

Education is a tool to guide someone into good person especially religious education. Islamic education in particular regarding the basic knowledge of Islam has been introduced when the students sit in Class I to Class VI of elementary school level. But in the era globalization, we still found the naughtiness of teenager or children who far from noble character such as disobedient to the parents and teachers, often fighting, stealing and etc. One of the factors that caused the children have bad personality is less embedded of religious soul on each person in society. Based on these problems were built an Islamic educational game that expected to contribute to society and children as an alternative media in delivering learning about the science of religion especially Islam religion, so that after playing this game the player can know and inflict the spirit to study Islam religion. In this educational game, there are elements learning by doing (learning while playing) which combines three learning methods, namely the demonstration method, story method, and play method. The results showed that the design and testing of educational adventure game "Si Badol" can be used and understood by the user.
