Abstract

This paper discusses the possibility of adopting the study of archaeology as known in cultural theory to redesign the obsolete interior architecture element. The archaeological discipline might offer a possibility to understand the interior element thoroughly through emphasizing the specific material characteristics and their correlation to the different periodical lifetimes of the context. The idea of the archaeology of an interior introduces well-recorded analysis and material experimentation in the physical translation of interior elements. The design process is mainly conducted by emphasizing the notion of "after use" and imagining the object's future to tackle the issue of the obsolete interior. This study becomes an essential basis for understanding the role of an interior architect in responding to the subject of the decayed interior from the other point of view by taking a personal stand for "use" and "after use" beyond the conventional idea of functional space. In the case study, this paper examined the idea of repurposing obsolete stairs as an archetype element through the physical and poetic approach of the object by taking one of the projects in Master interior architecture studio in Rotterdam. This practice aims to augment the material and generate the essential foundation for a design practice that could sensitively respond to the personal stand on the spatial design process.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, there were many alternatives to anticipate or anticipate through certain tools and media with less effectiveness and endanger the users, for example, a device that can be called a disinfecting chamber or "disinfection chamber". Quoted from CNN Indonesia, sourced from the WHO Indonesia Twitter account that not to spray alcohol or chlorine directly on the body, spraying such chemicals can be dangerous if exposed to clothing or mucous membranes (example: eyes, mouth) . Alcohol and chlorine can be used on the surface of the body with instructions or user guides. With an official statement from the world health organization directly that it can endanger health, there must be a breakthrough in new media that is safer for users . According to scientists from Aix-Marseille University in France, if the corona virus is exposed to high temperatures it can reduce the life span of the virus itself or can kill the virus itself at 92 degrees Celsius within 15 minutes (quoted from DetikHealt.com) . Giving heat to the room itself using heating by providing steam as in the sauna room and the interior elements are also applied special heat-resistant materials without compromising the safety and health of the users of the room . Then this room will be in health centers that move to handle patients who are examined and also useful for medical practitioners who treat patients . With a room that has a high temperature is expected to minimize the spread of the virus on an ongoing basis and neutralized our bodies outside of the virus in a safe way , because reported by various news , the specialists in internal medicine provide a statement that the virus that is outside the host or can be called a part of our body can last within 3 hours without handling such as washing hands using a handsanitizer or other treatments . The output of the research itself is a room with a hot temperature with wood material and the shape of the room adapts to the needs and existing literature, Then the benefits of this research can be realized a tool to inhibit the spread of the Covid-19 virus and can be used as much as possible for health workers and people who need it. Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyse the experiences of visitors and participants in accessing the virtual exhibition at the VR Duathlon Series TOBA 2020, which was taken place on September 26, 2020, at a location around Lake Toba, North Sumatra. This sports event is routinely held every year in different locations. However, it was carried out online during this pandemic to implement several activities such as exhibition information, competition activities, and tourism through virtual media. This research on virtual exhibitions completed using quantitative methods of analysing virtual reality from virtual reality application at sports events—the quantitative methods used by surveying 102 participants who accessed the virtual exhibition at the sporting event. This study stated that the completeness of the information regarding competition and tourism activities and the visual appearance of the environment from the virtual exhibition had a considerable influence on participants who accessed the virtual exhibition. The participants who access the virtual exhibition shown a desire to visit the event location after accessing the online virtual exhibition. This result answers the question that the application of virtual reality in sports events can provide a different experience for participants accustomed to attending events offline but need a more realistic virtual appearance to simulate the environment where the event took place as a visual and tourism attraction.

Abstract

The presence of smartphones today has an impact on commercial photography, especially fashion photography. The presence of smartphones makes everyone able to become a commercial fashion photographer, which makes the role of a commercial fashion photographer even more questionable. Departing from this phenomenon this research was conducted. This research is a research with descriptive qualitative method. This study was conducted to describe the phenomenon of commercial fashion photography that is currently happening. In addition, this phenomenon can produce an idea for commercial fashion photographers in dealing with the world of commercial fashion photography today. The result of this research is that today's commercial fashion photographers need to have out of the box ideas which are the qualities of ideas and concepts that distinguish them from other commercial fashionphotographers. Although the need for tools in the process of creating photography today can be replaced with smartphones, the quality of ideas and concepts is something that is not necessarily owned by every commercial fashion photographer.

Abstract

Down syndrome is one of the common genetic disorders. It is experienced by children born with an abnormal number of chromosomes which causes mental retardation and characteristic physical characteristics. Currently in Indonesia, many schools have been established that are specifically provided for children with Down syndrome, one of which is SLB Puspa Melati. SLB Puspa Melati is located in the Tepus area, precisely in Pudak Hamlet, Gunungkidul Regency, D.I. Yogyakarta Province. The learning activities carried out at SLB Puspa Melati Tepus are continuously explored, this is as done in July 2017 where SLB Puspa Melati invited several graffiti actors (including writers) to draw with the students of SLB Puspa Melati, especially in drawing letters which were then assembled into the names of each student. This activity then inspired the author to design an educational book for down syndrome children, especially for students of SLB Puspa Melati. This design includes designing the fontstyle (variety of letters) that the author created, inspired by the author's fontstyle graffiti consisting of alphabets A to Z and numbers 0 to 9. The entire alphabet and numbers were designed using connecting lines as a tool for students to draw and identify letters and numbers after they were bolded.
