Abstract

Environmental problems are currently increasing. One way to reduce environmental problems is to change students' perspectives and attitudes to care more about the environment. Adiwiyata school program is one way that can be taken to achieve this goal through learning environmental education (PLH). This study aims to determine the level of environmental knowledge of students at MAN 1 Pekanbaru. The study was conducted at MAN 1 Pekanbaru TP 2020-2021 with a total sample of 217 people, using a survey method with a random sampling technique. The environmental knowledge questionnaire was prepared using ten indicators developed from the PLH syllabus. The analysis showed that the environmental knowledge of MAN 1 students in the high category was 102 people or 47%, the medium category was 87 people or 40.09%, and the low category was 28 people or 12.90%. These results indicate that PLH learning can provide environmental knowledge to students at MAN 1 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Erly-age marriage remains a severe issue in Indonesia, including in Pekanbaru. This phenomenon seriously impacts individuals and society, including poor reproductive health, low education and skills, social and emotional problems, financial issues, and family problems. This study analyzed the religious understanding and practices in the Pekanbaru community related to early-age marriage through a descriptive qualitative approach. The results indicated that adolescents' common religious knowledge and lack of religious education were the main factors contributing to the early-age marriage. This research advises enhancing religious education in schools and communities and teaching concepts such as gender equality, children's rights, and social responsibility to improve public awareness and prevent early-age marriage in Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study uses the interpretivism paradigm to analyze the contrast between conventional and contemporary teaching methods in learning the Arabic language. The conventional teaching method emphasizes mastery of grammar and vocabulary through structured methods, while the contemporary method prioritizes communication and understanding of Arab culture. A literature review was conducted to understand the perspectives of experts in Arabic language learning and shows that contemporary teaching methods are more suitable for Arabic language teaching because it emphasizes communication skills and understanding of Arab culture. However, some studies show that conventional teaching methods are still crucial in strengthening the structured mastery of grammar and vocabulary. This article recommends using contemporary teaching methods in Arabic language learning by paying attention to the structured mastery of grammar and vocabulary and developing appropriate learning strategies based on students' needs and contextual factors.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the ability to memorize Naqli verses through the Reading Aloud strategy in MAN 4 Kota Pekanbaru students. The study used the classroom action research method in two cycles with 40 participants. The results showed a significant improvement in the ability of students to memorize Naqli verses after implementing the Reading Aloud strategy. In cycle I, the average score of students increased from 60.1 to 70.2, and in cycle II, the average score increased further to 80.8. These findings suggest that the Reading Aloud strategy effectively improves students' ability to memorize Naqli verses. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers use the Reading Aloud strategy in teaching the memorization of Naqli verses in the classroom. Further research can be conducted to test the effectiveness of the Reading Aloud strategy on a larger group of participants and involve more factors that affect the ability of students to memorize Naqli verses.

Abstract

The role of Islamic kingdoms before the colonial era significantly influenced the spread of Islam in Indonesia. They succeeded in forming and developing an Islamic education system different from the Dutch colonial education system. This research conducted a qualitative analysis of various historical and literary sources to explore the contribution of Islamic kingdoms to the spread of Islam in Indonesia. The results showed that Islamic kingdoms played a crucial role in Dakwah activities and in forming Islamic educational institutions such as pesantren. They also contributed to the development of Islamic culture through arts, literature, architecture, and so on. Therefore, understanding the history of Islamic kingdoms in Indonesia is crucial in comprehending the country's development of religion, culture, and education.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the learning motivation of 23 students in the Class X Religious Program at MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru in Arabic Language class, using ice-breaking activities. The research was conducted in two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the performance of ice-breaking activities in Arabic Language class improved the students’ learning motivation. The ice-breaking actions also contributed to a more active and enjoyable learning process. In conclusion, ice-breaking activities can effectively improve student learning motivation in Arabic Language classes. Teachers should apply this strategy in their teaching practices to create a more engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This study discusses the Kurikulum Merdeka as a solution to developing students' creativity and national character. This study uses a descriptive-analytic approach by reviewing various literature and data sources to understand the influence of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The findings reveal that the Kurikulum Merdeka helps develop critical, creative, and innovative thinking skills and a national character in Madrasah. Students can freely explore their interests and talents by using a student-centred approach. This study will contribute to education development in Madrasah and provide teachers and policymakers with a reference for developing curricula that foster students' creativity and national character.
