Abstract

The state wants the protection of the marine environment through the ratification of various international conventions such as the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from the Ship (hereinafter referred to as MARPOL). ), which regulates the port authority, in this case the role of the harbormaster in upholding the sea due to oil pollution by tankers as stipulated in the 1982 Marine Law which stipulates that law enforcement against perpetrators of marine environmental pollution must be carried out. out by flag states (flag countries), port states and coastal states as stipulated by Articles 213-220 of the 1982 Law of the Sea Convention. Marine pollution can also be the result of ship operations and or ship accidents, whether intentional or unintentional, however due to pollution The sea has a very broad impact on all life both in the sea and on land that is affected by pollution. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and literature review. Data validity using triangulation. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model of qualitative analysis. The conclusion of this study, Indonesian positive law, the law aims to avoid oil pollution in the sea by tankers through the implementation of oil disposal management by tankers and monitoring the completeness of ship infrastructure. to the standardization of pollution owned by tankers. Prevention efforts are being made to tackle oil pollution at sea by tankers through a pollution prevention monitoring mechanism with pollution control equipment to prevent and control pollution for tankers entering the territory of the Republic of Indonesia, if tankers cannot anticipate pollution, Syahbandar and the team formed will tackle the pollution through facilities owned by oil companies.

Abstract

Indonesia is a large country with many spreading archipelagos and many ocean resources. The condition makes Indonesia a potential country in many maritime sectors. The potential condition establish maritime navigational technology is one of many topic that has begun to interest many researches. The strong desire of researcher will also get support from the many sources of citations that are now appearing and can be used as references. Even though it has a wide area of expertise, the researches concerning maritime technology is very little at present. This research aims to collect the trends of maritime technology research in Indonesia by performing bibliometric analysis from scientific papers indexed by partly free scholarly database named google scholar. This research analyzes the numbers of document published, the most cited papers, and the productivity of maritime researchers in two specific area of maritime navigation and maritime navigational technology. Some keywords focused on this researched were minned by clustering using VOSviewer. As the result, this study hopefully provide an overview of current research on maritime technology in Indonesia and provide the right direction for researchers with maritime technology research interest.

Abstract

The existence of a practical learning model is a requirement for prospective merchant marine students in an effort to develop their experience dealing directly with the world of work. Merchant Marine Polytechnic Malahayati requires cadets to carry out Onboard Training (Prala) in their educational syllabus. However, the role of educational institutions in monitoring the activities of cadets when practicing outside the campus is currently a bit neglected. This can be caused by several factors, including the absence of tools/or instruments that can monitor the activities of cadets directly. Previous research on the development of a mobile-based application prototype to monitor the performance of cadets in Prala activities became one of the instruments for improving the education sector. This follow-up research uses quantitative methods and R&D research method to approach the solution to the problems obtained based on the implementation objectives. The final goal of the research is the availability of an impact analysis from the information database on the application of digitizing prala activities through a mobile-based application prototype. The results of this analysis can be used by policy makers at the Malahayati Poytechnic of Merchant Marine in developing a better education monitoring system outside the collage in the future.

Abstract

Mooring ropes are the most important factor in docking vessels or loading and unloading activities at The mooring rope serves to tether ships to the dock so that when the ship is carried away by currents, wind or waves. However, there are factors that can cause the mooring rope to break. Factors from the ship itself and from outside the ship. The implementation was carried out for 11 months when carrying out marine practices aboard KMP ATHAYA with a research time of July 2021 to June 2022. Data were obtained directly through interviews in research preparation, data testing, data processing, discussion of research results, conclusions and author suggestions using the method qualitative descriptive research. From the observations, it can be concluded that to prevent the breaking of the mooring line by implementing a mooring plan, urging the crew on guard to always pay attention to the mooring rope when the ship is docking, and perform proper maintenance of the mooring line.

Abstract

Heat exchanger is one of the important device aboard the ship to reduce heat and prevent the overheating as overheating in the ship could damage the machinery used in the ship. There are parameters to be considered in the design, and operating the heat exchanger, especially in the autonomous ship. In this paper, a general review is provided of developments and improvements on heat exchanger and its relevance in an autonomous ship. Based on the finding, the design and heat exchanger typing should be adapted well to the applications in which they are used. As the usage in an autonomous ship, an risk and reliability assessment of heat exchanger have to be analyzed. Lastly, the development of heat transfer usage in an autonomous ship is still in the stage of monitoring and measuring the operating parameter. The maintenace and correction of the failures still need human presence.

Abstract

Ships are the preferred transportation fleet for export-import activities compared to air transportation, because of their large carrying capacity, making them relatively more profitable. Ships without cargo to sail safely will add ballast water as a stabilizer. Ballast water often carries a variety of foreign microorganisms that can harm the landfill ecosystem. On September 8, 2017, the ballast Water Management Convention (BWMC) was enacted, to prevent the spread of pathogenic microbes that are very harmful to health and the environment. The purpose of the study was to determine the understanding of private academy cadets on the provisions of BWMC. Data were collected using questionnaires and in-depth interviews, then descriptive analysis was carried out. Respondents were cadets of private maritime academy in Central Java, a total of 35 respondents. 6 respondents were excluded because they gave dishonest answers, so the sample used was 29. From the conclusion that there were still many respondents who did not understand the provisions of BWMC, it was evident from the respondents' answers to several questions that none of them were correct. Such as the question of when the BWMC was promulgated, when Indonesia ratified the BWMC, and the question of the D-1 Standard and the D-2 Standard of the BWMC. However, there are 13.79% of respondents already have a concern about the dangers of ballast water and the importance of immediately handling ballast water. Our suggestion is to disseminate information to private academy cadets through seminars, special training on ballast water, or inclusion in marine pollution course materials.
