Abstract

The aim of study was to search the potency of women’s entrepreneurship in the coastal communities of Sanga-Sanga Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara District. The study was conducted by using survey method, i.e. direct observation and interviews with coastal community informants, especially women. Data were analyzed by descriptive and financial analysis. The results showed that fishery businesses in the research area are concentrated on fishing, fish culture and processing of fishery products activities. Fish processing activities done by women in the studied area involve ‘amplang’, crackers, and fish meatballs business. The potency of coastal women's entrepreneurship include the usage of free time to work for family income addition, personal development to create more productive business, and the division of time between taking care of the household members and conducting productive activities.

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the social profile of the fisher’s community in Bontang Kuala Village related to poverty and welfare based on the typology of the village. The research was carried out by direct monitoring in the field. The results showed that the Bontang Kuala Village community members are mostly fishers. The majority people who live there are from middle-income level group. The income of fisher’s community in Bontang Kuala was IDR 207,000,000 per household per year. Based on the classification system the village type was determined as E1, A2, L2, Pd3, GR3, Y2, P3, with a value of 16. As number of fishers was larger than any other jobs, the fisher’s community was categorized as primer group (E1). In addition, the village had a high output of IDR 100,000,000 per year (Y2) and the community modernity of the village was classified as transision (A2). The government agency led to a modest degree of change to a higher level with 4-6 institutions (L2) and the education level was high (Pd3). Furthermore, the community was in the process and mutual assistance (GR3) and the level and direction of development of the village was determined as moderate (P3).

Abstract

The major aim of this research was to determine the application of net production as management strategy for fisher women activity in Selangan Laut of Bontang City in the field of integrated domestic and public sectors in order to increase the quality life of fishers family. The results showed that fisher women activities were classified as follows: (a) in domestic sector such as performing meals for the family; (b) in social aspect like providing meals for public/specific events, and (c) in productive one, i.e. the making of fish paste, sea weeds processed product, and salted and dried fishes, the performance of grilled fish culinary services and sea weeds cultivation activity. The activities above have a prospect to implement the net production. The application of net production can be done by managing and utilizing solid and liquid wastes. In addition, the further efforts to ensure net production are formulating procedure operation standard of net production, organizing raw materials and their supplement by the creation of ‘come in first come out first’ model, preparing adequate equipments, increasing the number of demand, and extending market channel through the creation of product diversification, modification and packaging

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to identify lending patterns of the traditional fisheries business conducted by PT Pupuk Kaltim in coastal Bontang; (2) to determine the credit mechanism distribution. This study carried out between June and November 2012 and the studied area was in coastal Bontang. The results showed that: (1) Lending patterns of fisheries artisanal business from PT. Pupuk kaltim was developed through Partnerships Community Development Program (PKBL). In performing its functions and duties, PKBL was assisted by Fisheries and Marine Farmers Association (HPPK); (2) Partnerships Community Development Program (PKBL) has two lending patterns of the fisheries business, namely: (a) financial schemes to bankable fishery business. Loans were given to the group members ranging from IDR 1,000,000,- up to IDR 10,000,000,-; (b) financial schemes to fisheries collectors with the loan limit is IDR 50,000,000.-; and 3) the credit mechanism has nine steps starting from proposal submission delivered by the candidate up to the partners involvement in the intended activities held by PKBL.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to determine the welfare level of fishpond farmers in Malinau Kota Sub-district, Malinau District, North Kalimantan. The method used in the study was survey in which respondent interviews were done. The welfare analysis based on both the National Family Planning (BKKBN) and the NTP were used. The result showed that: (1) The percentage of the community grouped in the Keluarga Prasejahtera category was 25% followed by the Keluarga Sejahtera I group was 10%, and 50% was for the Keluarga Sejahtera III category. Meanwhile there were not the farmers welfare categorised either as Keluarga Sejahtera II and Keluarga Sejahtera III Plus; (2) The data analysis on Pond Farmers Term of Trade showed that the value was 4.60 and the total revenue of the pond farner enterprise was calculated for 8.42.
