European Journal of Higher Education and Academic Advancement is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal that offers comprehensive coverage of theoretical and empirical studies of higher education in Europe, comparative research within Europe, and comparisons between European and non-European higher education. Building on the successful legacy of its predecessor, Higher Education in Europe, EJHEAA is establishing itself as one of the flagship journals in the study of higher education and specifically in the study of European higher education. The journal accepts original research articles and proposals for special issues. We strongly recommend that authors consult back issues of EJHEAA for examples of topics of interest to our readership and to ensure that your proposed article is in conversation with any prior articles in the same topic area published in EJHEAA or other higher education journals. The articles that are part of a special issue do not all necessarily have to have an explicit European focus as long as the overall theme of the special issue fits the scope of this journal.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the views of faculty members on the success of teacher education programs in developing lifelong learning competence. A review of the literature was conducted to gather information on the opinions of faculty members and to identify the key factors that they believe contribute to the success of teacher education programs in this regard. The results of the literature review suggest that the views of faculty members on the success of teacher education programs in developing lifelong learning competence are mixed. Some faculty members believe that these programs are successful in preparing students for a lifetime of learning, while others believe that there is room for improvement. Faculty members who believe that teacher education programs are successful in developing lifelong learning competence often point to the use of hands-on, practical experiences, the incorporation of technology, and opportunities for professional development as key factors in this success. Those who believe that there is room for improvement recommend incorporating more hands-on, practical experiences, providing opportunities for professional development, and incorporating technology in new and innovative ways. In conclusion, the views of faculty members on the success of teacher education programs in developing lifelong learning competence are diverse and complex. Further research is needed to determine the most effective ways to prepare students for a lifetime of learning and to assess the success of teacher education programs in this regard.

Abstract

This paper titled “Implementation of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) in Tertiary institutions in Nigeria: Impact and way forward” was carried out with the objectives of analyzing the impact of the implementation of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) on tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Secondary data were used in the paper. The secondary data were collected from print and online publications. The paper's theoretical framework was anchored on Marx & Engel's Class theory (1971). A content analytical approach was employed in the research methodology. The study concluded that the implementation of the IPPIS policy on federal tertiary institutions in Nigeria has led to the disengagement of contract staff in federal tertiary institutions; slow down recruitment in federal tertiary institutions; led to violation of the autonomy of the institutions and the IPPIS policy did not suit the management structure and peculiarities of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Based on these findings; the paper suggested that since the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is not designed to suit the administration and management of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, therefore, the federal government should remove all tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
