Abstract

Building a professional library can be cultivated one of them through the application of library standards. In practice the application of library standards is not always easy especially in the framework of library accreditation.This paper raises the experience of libraries in the Research and Development and Training Center of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, namely namely the Manado Religious Training Center Library and the Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur’an Library in conducting self assessment using library standards. The instrument used to conduct the self assessment is entirely taken from the Indonesian National Standard for Special Libraries of Government Agencies with additional modifications that are adapted to the state of the library. The instruments featured in this paper include the functions of libraries, collections, organizing library materials, human resources, managers, library services, library organizations, buildings, equipment, budgets, and information and communication technology.

Abstract

This takes the theme of writing about the role of librarian in the time of disrupsi. This research uses qualitative research with approach of Phenomenology. Informants from this research is the Librarian of all the elements for a visit and found in IAIN Salatiga taken random. Data collection was conducted using interviews and documents. The issue of this study is a strategy of adaptation to shifting the role of threatening perkembangangan librarian. The results of this research is that librarians are required to map out the development of, and dimilinya weaknesses, and develop the skills that are required in accordance with the development. This librarian been reliability advanced keprofesiannya that are then oriented on the ability of maintaining quality themselves. That competence is the ability in terms of Listening, Informatin acceptance, Public relation, Social relationship, Time management, Interpersonal, and Communication skills.

Abstract

The demand for qualifications for a job will continue to be higher, including in the field of a library while competence is too slow to be repaired. This certainly will cause alumni absorption on employment to be low and extra time is needed for alumni to adjust. This problem can be overcome by preparing prospective alumni early by optimizing the Competency of Library Science Students through the Learning Community. Optimization of Competencies in Library Science Students Through the Learning Community is a form of group assignments to learn and explore certain fields with a more flexible time. Starting from simple steps by gathering members, determining topics and doing joint learning while still empowering members by occasionally inviting other communities.

Dalam kebanyakan universitas, Perpustakaan dikenal sebagai “pusat informasi”. Karena semua bahan pustaka dapat menginformasikan banyak berita, data dan informasi. Dan perpustakaan yang disebut sebagai bagian dari fasilitas pendidikan. Sebagai pusat impormations, perpustakaan tidak hanya menyediakan fasilitas dan proses, tetapi perpustakaan juga dapat memberikan dukungan dan motivasi dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan.

Abstract

This study discusses the audit information in the information system of the library ITS Surabaya (SPITS). The purpose of this research is to inventory the needs and use of information on the management and the users of the library in the activities collection and processing services in hopes of providing inputs (recommended) in the the development of an integrated information system in the library of ITS Surabaya. Data collected by observation, documentation, interviews and questionnaires. Data research results were analyzed with descriptive qualitative approach through several stages of the model audit information Susan Henczel which is one of the methodology of the audit the information by applying the stages of planning, data gathering, analysis data, and the evaluation of the data.  From the results of the research note that the implementation of the automated information system based SPITS used nowadays are still having some problems, which is still not providing some of the information that is required on either the management or users of the library. For it to do the audit information so that it can serve as inputs or recommendations in the plan of development of the software SPITS (the ITS Library information system) integrated

Abstract

New information environment requires modern skills and librarians must adapt to the new environment (Chinien and Boutin, 2011). In the digital information environment, librarians need to acquire digital competencies (Graham, 2003), because they are responsible for building digital libraries for their readers (Seshaiah and Veeraanjaneyulu, 2009). However, the results of the study indicate that university library in Indonesia haven’t moved quickly to digital libraries, so that the competence of digital librarians is only a small part of needed. Librarianship in Indonesia is still moving from the traditional library towards the hybrid library. On the other hand, these developments must be addressed by the organizers of library science courses to be able to prepare librarian candidates capable of managing digital libraries.

Today's Information Users prefer information that  is  available  online.  This online information is clearly easier to find, faster and cheaper and more suitable for hobbies with those who like to surf the internet. Google books as one of online resources can be hernessed to find information for academic needs, especially writing scientific papers. The Google ebook database is not yet widely known and utilized by today's information seekers. In order for this facility to be "eye catching" for today's information seekers there needs to be a deliberate effort by librarians and library managers.
