Indonesian Journal of Library and Information Science (IJLIS) contains articles written from research and study reports on Information and Library Science. Indonesian Journal of Library and Information Science is published twice annually (June and December) by the journal editors from the Library Science Study Program Faculty of etiquette and humanities, Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. This journal is focused on the study of library and information sciences. The coverage include both review articles as well as research articles in those fields. Subjects coverd in this journal include: Library management, Information Services, Media and Information literacy, Knowledge Management, Digital Library and Repositories, archives and documentation, Information Literacy, Digital Archiving, Marketing and Repackaging of Information, Preservation and Conservation, Information Security Law and Documentation and Publication.

Abstract

Todays schools are placing emphasis on STEM (an approach of learning that based on an idea of educate students in four specific subject: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This approach of learning is important because continual advances of technology that affect the way student learn and interact, and the world economy is changing as well. It is said that current jobs may disappear and new job emerge as the impact of advance and automated system of technology. Through STEM students develop skills: problem solving, creativity, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, communication and digital literacy. In line with above approach, a school library is as school’s physical and digital learning space where reading, inquiry, research, thinking, imagination, and creativity are central to students’ information-to-knowledge journey and to their personal, social, and cultural growth. Despite the emphasis on STEM, basic literacy skill through reading and writing are still important in curriculum. This article is based on the assumption rather than school choose between the priorities, literacy skill should be integrated with STEM through school library. School library can create maker activities in makerspace as resource-filled places of learning to enrich student experience in learning and develop students 21st century skills.

Abstract

The need for information for human beings has its own characteristics and differences so that each has an unequal portion in needing the necessary information. They need information because it is considered to be able to add insight so that they can move their minds and behavior to find answers to their ignorance. The development of information through various existing sources causes an abundance of information that is not necessarily all that is needed. The need for this information depends on the background and limited information available at the time. Other implications of the advancement of digital technology will have various impacts. Starting from cultural changes that have shifted the cultural fabric of society that has lived in the midst of Indonesian society for a long time, to information technology that makes information sources very accessible to the public with content diverse content, both from a positive side that can build human civilization or it will plunge humanity into a moral decline that was previously upheld. Shifting moral values ​​into something that must be "sacrifice" advances in information technology. The purpose of writing is to provide competency support for librarians to face the era of information technology. Abstract

The library is a vehicle for information resources which is expected to help educate the nation's life. As an organism that continues to grow, libraries will continue to grow and innovate in providing services to the community of users. Advances in information technology are seen as having the most influence on library development. This is because information technology affects all aspects of activities in the library. Library components also grow and develop dynamically, namely collections, librarians, users, and physical infrastructure such as buildings, furniture and equipment. The library's strategy in order to survive and develop in the midst of society is, first of all, to re-establish library and community relations which are full of dynamics. Second, to manage the library with good and correct management so that it can play a role in providing information both at the local and global levels. in network form. The development of libraries in society is a barometer of the development of the information society. The concrete thing is that people need the availability and ease of access to information. In an information society, information has become an inseparable part of every aspect of people's lives.

Abstract

The article discusses the availability of Special Library facilities and infrastructure based on Library National Standards (SNP) Number 14 of 2017 at the Library of the Aceh Provision of Bank Indonesia Representative Office. The purpose of this study was to determine the availability of facilities and infrastructure in the Aceh Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office Library based on National Library Standards (SNP) number 14 of 2017 concerning special library standards. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the availability of facilities and infrastructure in the Aceh Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office Library was not in accordance with the National Library Standards (SNP) Number 14 of 2017. In the building specifications for the Bank Indonesia Representative Office Library in Aceh Province, it was not in accordance with standards starting from a building area of ​​only 68m2 the library should have a building with an area of ​​200m2, it does not yet have a work space, so it is not up to standard. In addition, there are still some furniture that are not suitable, namely reading tables and work tables. In fulfilling the availability of facilities and infrastructure in accordance with the National Library Standards (SNP) Number 14 of 2017.

Abstract

Personal Information Management (PIM) is a method or practice that can assist in managing personal information stored in storage media, making it easier to find the information owned. One of them is the final year students of the Library Science Study Program who are expected to be able to manage personal information effectively, both past and current information. This phenomenon makes its own interest to find out the description of Personal Information Management developed by UIN Ar-Raniry students during the thesis work period. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. The subject of this research is the 2018 class of Library Science Study Program students consisting of 57 respondents. The data collection technique used is using questionnaire distribution and the data analysis method used is using the mean formula. The results of the research on the finding indicator show that 64.9% of students explore thesis material from various sources, then 47.4% of students connect keywords related to the search for thesis material, and 43.9% of students conduct direct searches for thesis material using specific keywords and reading material flashes. Furthermore, keeping and organizing information shows 54.4% of students agree to select the usefulness of the information before it is actually stored and 56.1% of students store thesis material in folders that are easy to remember. For Meta-level, information maintenance 64.9% of students will back-up and update information and 61.4% of students agree to always manage information in and out of storage media in order to save storage space.

Abstract

Collection evaluation completes the cycle of a collection development process in a library. This activity generates data including how useful it is to provide collections for certain groups such as children. There is no debate that many benefits of reading books for children include developing language skills and creative thinking. Therefore, the availability of access to collections and suitability for children's needs are important to consider in collection management. This paper evaluates the use of the children's collection held at the Pidie District Public Library. The aim is to assess the use of children’s collections by elementary school students who visited the public library in Pidie district. Fiction collection circulations were analysed based on its genre. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data obtained through circulation statistic, interview and observation.The result of research based on usage statistics from November 2021 to Oktober 2022 showed that total usage of children collections were 672 books per year and fiction usage collection for 456 times. The most frequent- used of fiction collection was fairytale, followed by the storybooks, short stories, poetry, novels and folklore. Students can borrow only 2 to 3 title of the books within a week. Students really appreciate the availability of children's collections in public libraries due to the limitation of their school libraries’ collections. Nevertheless, students suggest that public library should develop the variety of fiction collections. Holdings of fiction collections only 193 titles or 470 copies from total holdings 247 titles or 730 copies of children collections. Therefore, this result can assist the Pidie Regent Public Library to manage children collection development decisions in future
