Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition aims to publish high-quality researches and outstanding creative works combining the broad fields of literature and linguistics on the same intellectual platform. Article contains field study, case study, library research, and others. The article must be relevant with current issues in the scope of oral tradition. Those different segments that will be featured in each issue of Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition are: (i) critical writings on literary, (ii) cultural and linguistics studies, and (iii) creative writings that include works of prose fiction and selections of poetry related to the oral tradition. Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition invites scholars and writers to submit high-quality written works presenting original researches with profound ideas and insightful thoughts that could potentially inaugurate avenues to new perspectives in the fields of language, literature and culture.

Abstract

Abstract: This research uses the ethnographic method of communication, which is a study that examines the role of language in the communicative behavior of a society. The subjects in this study were several informants and two resource persons who were the main actors in the handover tradition of the manten. The object under study is the manten handover tradition. This study aims to reveal the ethnography of communication on the tradition of handing over manten in Javanese wedding customs in Mappedeceng District, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. And disclose the registers used in the tradition. The results showed that the communication ethography of SPEAKING Dell Hymes in the form of setting took place at the bride's house. Participants are the bride and groom, close relatives, KUA officers, community leaders and religious leaders. Ends or the goal is to establish harmony between the two family families, Act Sequence in the form of surrender first, then acceptance. The rules of interaction in this tradition are to pay attention to several things including: the presence of the bride and groom, the presence of the families of the bride and groom, there are guardians and witnesses of each marriage, the most important thing is the spokesperson for each

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study will be to reveal the verbal form, meaning and verbal function of the treatment spells used in the treatment of traditional healers. This research is a field research that uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study technique. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the form of healing spells consists of perfect and imperfect spells. The forms of healing spells consist of free rhymes, sects, quints, adultery and poetry. Has the function of curing stomach ailments, colds, internal heat, witchcraft, headaches. Healing diseases traditionally, verbal and nonverbal behavior is an inseparable unity. This is caused by several things including, (a) verbal behavior is an embodiment of faith and hope in God, (b) nonverbal behavior is a manifestation of real action, and (c) the existence of energy possessed by shamans or tetulung.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to find out the forms of local beliefs contained in the Bakumpai mantra and the correlation of these local beliefs with the lives of the Bakumpai people today. The problem in this study is how are the forms of local beliefs contained in the Dayak Bakumpai mantra and whether there is a correlation between these local beliefs and the current life of the Bakumpai Dayak community. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with literature study techniques. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the local beliefs contained in the Bakumpai mantra include: belief in the existence of crocodile stealth; belief in the existence of ancestral spirits that they can still contact; belief in the existence of ethereal beings; belief in the existence of ghosts; and belief in spells that can lure the opposite sex.

Abstract

Abstract : The study aims to reveal elements of the culture reflected in the mairasi, kaimana, west Papua folk story with the approach to literary anthropology. Data obtained through observation, interview, record, and note. Research data consists of textual units containing cultural elements. Analysis is done by interpreting these cultural elements based on ethnographic reference. The results of this study suggest that through the literary anthropology approach, the cultural elements of the Mairasi folklore become much clearer. Analysis found that the Mairasi language is alive and is used as a means of communication. The Mairasi people had a traditional house called weso and became a garden home. This house also as a kinship marker. The mairasi people know the nuclear family and the marriage is performed with the klen outside their klen. To maintain stability and cultural norms they have a chosen leader based on his knowledge of klen background. The Mairasi people became familiar with the new profession of fishing, originally they were hunters and farmers. Some devices used for daily activities are more commonly made from natural materials. It is the reasons that they believe in natural forces which are internalized in their systems of knowledge and religious systems.

Abstract

Abstract: Padelegan Village is one of the villages located in Pademawu sub-district, North Sumatra regency Pamekasan. One example of ritual communication is Petik Laut. Petik Laut is a ritual that occurs in fishing communities.Petik Laut is a tradition that involves communication during the program. Petik Laut is a culture of local wisdom and is carried out from generation to generation. Petik Laut is held as a form of gratitude to those in power for the sustenance that has been given. Communication events (communicative event), the basis of which aims to explain the words in detail, describe in other words the analysis of events is a basic communication activity. The communication event has 8 components called SPEAKING. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with ethnographic research design. The method was chosen based on the fact that the relationship between the categories and the data in this study will only be highlighted and explained in detail by the method.
