Abstract

Obsession with books often reflects broader social and cultural values. This research aims to understand the phenomenon of book obsession through a New Historicism approach, focusing on the cases of John Charles Gilkey and Ken Sanders. The method used is a qualitative case study with textual and contextual analysis of the book "The Man Who Loved Books Too Much" by Allison Hoover Bartlett. The findings show that Gilkey's obsession with books was driven not only by a love of literature, but also by a desire for social recognition and status. Gilkey's behavior, often breaking the law to acquire rare books, reflects how individuals can sacrifice social norms to achieve personal goals influenced by historical and cultural contexts. In contrast, Sanders' dedication to protecting and preserving rare books shows the positive side of book obsession, where it contributes to the preservation of knowledge and cultural heritage. This research provides insight into the dynamics of book obsession and how social and cultural values can influence individual behavior. Keywords: Culture, Books, New Historicism, Obsession

Abstract

The research is aimed to describe the rate of survival of the vocabulary of agriculture in language Konjo on students grade 3 SMP Negeri 31 Bulukumba in District Bulukumba . The method that is used is the approach qualitative supported by the analysis of quantitative . The collection of data is done by using the 2 ( two ) ways , namely : questionnaire technique ( questionnaire ) and interview technique ( interview ). The results of the study have demonstrated that of the 100 vocabulary that is submitted to the 51 respondents , there is one respondent with knowledge of vocabulary highest is 91% and the knowledge of the lowest 29%. For every vocabulary knowledge on the whole respondents, survival highs are in the vocabulary of god , canggoren , workshops , asu , bembe, and rarely with the level of viability highest is 100%. While the lowest is cakkuru with a percentage of 5,88 %. So for the final results the vocabulary survival level in all questionnaires is 64,96 %. Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to describe the lingual form of conversational implicature contained in the communication that occurs at the Kendari Fish Auction. In this study, the method used to collect data is to record conversations that occur at the Kendari Fish Auction auction, then sort through the data in which there are conversational implicature, then the data that has been collected is then analyzed. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the conversational implicature research model conducted by Prof. Dr. Ida BagusPutrayasa, M.Pd. in his book entitled Pragmatics. Abstract

The main idea of this study is about the kinship relationship of bahasa Bugis and bahasa Konjo Pesisir and also the separation time between those two languages. this study used 200 basic vocabularies by Morris Swadesh as its data, which were then translated into local languages for comparisons. The results showed that from those 200 basic vocabularies that were compared, there were 104 related vocabularies, 39 identical pairs, 36 pairs that had phonemic correspondence and 21 pairs that had one different phoneme. While the separation time between the two languages ranges from 1546 - 1174 years or between 474 - 846 centuries calculated from the present time. Based on the percentage of the related vocabularies and the separation time of those two languages, it can be concluded that bahasa Bugis and bahasa Konjo Pesisir are classified as family, as the percentage of the two languages was 52%.

Abstract

This study examines novels that tell about the social realities of the people of Minang that occur in modern times. Anak Rantau's novel by Ahmad Fuadi is interesting to be analyzed using the Sociology Literature approach of Genetic structuralism,as the novel contained criticisms of social problems that occur in the Minangkabau region. The problems investigated in this study are (1) how the social structure and world view of the author in the Anak Rantau novel, (2) how social criticism in the Anak Rantau novel. In connection with this problem, this study aims (1) to describe the social structure and worldview of the author in the novel Anak Rantau, (2) to describe social criticism in the Anak Rantau novel. The research method used are descriptive qualitative and dialectical methods. Types of research are namely library research and interview methods. The results showed that (1) the social structure found in Anak Rantau's novel included cooperation, cultural and religious systems and knowledge systems. The author's world view in Anak Rantau's novel is a concern for shifting cultural values ??in Minangkabau society. (2) the social criticism found in Anak Rantau's novel includes, the author as a representative of the collective subject sees a social problem that occurs in the surrounding environment, namely, the shift of the surau function that was used as a center of education by children towards the maturity and existence of Ninik Mamak did not working properly. Abstract

This study entitled “the personality of the main shape in the Bulan Tak Purnama novel by Ahmad Basri Afandi” uses a qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is the Bulan Tak Purnama novel by Ahmad Basri Afandi, which contains the turmoil of Dani’s personality in realizing his instincts. Among them the desire to get married, the desire to make his mother happy, love and sex. The results of this study indicate that the main shape Dani has a person who is virtuous, attention, caring, optimistic, honest, merciful and sincere. This can be proven by looking at the id, ego and superegoes. Literary psychology is a science that understands the reflection and mental activities of humans. The reflection and psychological activity of the human being is in the character of Dani as the main shape in the Bulan Tak Purnama novel by Ahmad Basri Afandi. Abstract

This research focuses on the existence of Muna traditional food lexicon made from corn and cassava. This research was motivated by the development of modern culinary today which began to shift traditional food. This condition has an impact on the existence of traditional food lexicon which is increasingly endangered. Based on that reason, this research aims to describe the existence of traditional Muna food lexicon made from corn and cassava in Muna youth. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research is described in the form of level of existence of Muna traditional food lexicon made from corn and cassava in the form of percentage. Based on the results of research on 50 respondents, the existence of the lexicon of traditional Muna food made from corn and cassava is at the level of 70%. The percentage results show that the lexicon of traditional Muna food made from corn and cassava still exists among teenagers in Muna district. Keywords: Lexicon, Traditional Food, Muna
