Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the skill and learning result in the Basic CNC TU-3A of the students in class XITechnical Machinery B of State Vocational High School 2 Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015. The target of change are improving students? skill and learning result, withaction variable is the uses CutViewer Millsoftware.This research is classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were all of  students as many as 31 from the class XITechnical Machinery B of State Vocational High School 2 Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015. The research conducted collaboration between researcher, subject matter teacher, observer, and students. The data of theresearch were collected through observation, documentation, test, and in-depth interview. The instrument validated whit content validity of theobservation sheet and expert judgment of the test.Data analyzed by descriptive comparative method and crictical analysis.The result shows that the usesCutViewer Millsoftware can improve the skill and learning result. In Cycle I, the average of student?s skill attainment is 65.42% and the average score is 80.91 with the percentage of the students who fulfill the minimum learning completeness criterion is 74.19%. In Cycle II, the student?s skill becomes 88.45% and the average score is 85.69, with the percentage of the students who fulfill the minimum learning completeness criterion is 100%.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1)Determine the effect of the addition of the element magnesium (Mg) in the aluminium casting on the level of hardness. (2) Determine the effect of the addition of the element magnesium (Mg) in the aluminium casting to micro structure. 3) Determine the effect of the addition of the element magnesium (Mg) in the aluminium casting on the level of impact strength. This study was descriptive research that clearly describes the results of experiments in the laboratory to some specimens. This method is implemented by providing independent variables intentionally to the object of study to know the effect on the dependent variable. The results showed three main things: (1) The more elements of magnesium (Mg) are added, the hardness value increased aluminium casting results.(2) The more elements of magnesium (Mg) is added, the grain size gets smaller aluminium casting results. (3) The more elements of magnesium (Mg) is added, then the impact strength aluminium casting results decline, but the decline is not too much.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine the increase of students learning activity and independence in the TPM C 11th class of SMKN 2 Surakarta at the school academic year 2014/2015 on the Mechanical Manufacture Drawing subject by implementating Peer-Tutor learning model with Group-Work strategy. This research was a class action research. This research was conducted in two cycles with each cycle consisted of the planning stage, the action stage, observation, reflection, and evaluation. The subjects of this research was student of the class XI TPM C SMKN 2 Surakarta which amounts to 31 students. The source of the datas were derived from teachers and students. The techniques of data collection were interviews, observations, documentations, questionnaires, and tests. The test of the instrument validity used the content validity. The test of the data validity used the triangulation data method. The data analysis used quantitative descriptive.The results showed that appliying of this learning model and strategy could increase the student learning activity and independence. The effective implementation of this learning model and strategy was based on the observation sheets, the interview conclusions, and the results of the questionnaires.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve the learning completeness of the students in Grade XI O1 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 Surakarta through the application of the demonstration method in the competency standard of Conventional Ignition System Improvement.  This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of research were the students as many as 24 in Grade XI O1of the aforementioned school in Academic Year 2014/2015. The data of research were collected through observation sheet, documentation, and test. The data of research were analyzed by using the descriptive comparative model of analysis. The application of the demonstration method can improve the learning completeness on the competency standard of Conventional Ignition System Improvement of the students in Grade XI O1 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015. This result can be seen in the results of observations in the pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. In the testing of learning result variable, the researcher used the content validity. The test was made by comparing between the contents of the instrument and the learning materials instructed. The content validity of the test was tested by using the expert judgment, and the test item application was tested by using Iteman 3.0. The result of the test was 20 valid items and 5 essays. In the pre-cycle, the percentage of the students who completed the learning is 62.5%, which is still far below the minimum learning completeness criterion of 80%. The percentages of the cognitive aspect learning completeness are 75% in Cycle I and 87.5% in Cycle II respectively of the minimum learning completeness criterion of 75, and the class completeness successfulness indicator is 80%. In the learning completeness of the affective aspect, there are several indicators, namely: (1) interest, (2) attitude, and (3) respect. The percentages of the affective aspect learning completeness are 76.03% in Cycle I and 88.87% in Cycle II respectively. The psychomotor learning completeness was measured with the practicum activities through work on job sheet aided with engine stand media of conventional ignition system. The result of practicum shows that the percentages of the learning completeness are 79.16% and 91.6% in Cycle II respectively. These results have fulfilled the benchmark of the students? learning completeness, namely: 80%.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to improve the learning activeness and result in the subject matter of Basic Vocational Competency of the students in Grade X of Bhineka Karya Vocational High School of Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015 through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Learning Together type.  This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of research were the students in Grade X of Mechanical Engineering B of the aforementioned school. The data sources of research were the students, observation sheet of learning activeness, and result of learning achievement test. The data of research were validated by using the content validity for the test data and the construct validity for the non-test data. They were analyzed by using the descriptive comparative analysis. The procedure of research consisted of a series of four repeatedly cyclical activities.The application of the cooperative learning model of the Learning Together type can improve the learning activeness and result in the subject matter of Basic Vocational Competency of the students in Grade X of  SMK Bhineka Karya Vocational High School of Surakarta. In the pre-cycle, the percentage of the students who had the expected learning activeness is 40 %. Following the application of the cooperative learning model of the Learning Together type, it becomes 63.34 % in Cycle I and 83.34% in Cycle II respectively. In addition, in the pre-cycle the percentage of the students who fulfilled the minimum learning completeness criterion is 43.34%. Following the application of the cooperative learning model of the Learning Together type, it becomes 76.67 % in Cycle I and 86.67% in Cycle II respectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) Investigate the effect of installation the electromagnet on the fuel lines and the use of Ignition Booster on the spark plug wires with a variation location of the exhaust emissions gas of CO and HC on Jupiter Z motorcycles. (2) Investigate the exact value of the levels of exhaust emissions gas HC and CO on a motorcycle Jupiter-Z with the installation of the electromagnet on the fuel line, and Ignition Booster on the spark plug wires with variations location of installation. The research method used was experimental method. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Education Program FKIP UNS Surakarta. The tools used to measure the exhaust emissions gas of CO and HC was a gas analyzer (STARGAS 898 TYPE). The research population were a motorcycle of Yamaha Jupiter Z 2007 and the sample was motorcycle of Yamaha Jupiter Z 2007 with machine numbered 2P2675042. The Data Analysis used in this research was two-way analysis of variance. Based on the results of research were: (1) There was significant effect between the electromagnet winding wire diameter to the reduction of exhaust emissions gas CO with amount of 1.712% vol, used electromagnet winding wire diameter of 0.20 mm, while those using electromagnetic winding wire diameter of 0.30 mm amount 1.738% vol. (2) There was significant effect between the electromagnet winding wire diameter to decrease HC exhaust emissions gas with amount of 377 ppm using electromagnet winding wire diameter of 0.20 mm, while those using electromagnetic winding wire diameter of 0.30 mm amount 359.6 ppm. (3) There was significant effect between the installation of Ignition Booster to the reduction of exhaust emissions gas CO with the lowest amount of 1.529% vol, using treatment Ignition Booster installation near the spark plug. (4) There was a significant effect between the installation of Ignition Booster to the reduction of exhaust emissions gas of HC with the lowest amount of 476 ppm, using treatment Ignition Booster installation near the spark plug. (5) There was significant effect between the electromagnet winding wire diameter and location of installation Ignition Booster to the reduction of exhaust emissions gas CO with the lowest amount of 1.476% vol, using a treatment installation of winding wire diameter of 0.30 mm and Ignition Booster near the spark plug. (6) There was significant effect between the electromagnet and the winding wire diameter, location of installation Ignition Booster to the reduction of exhaust emissions gas of HC with the lowest amount of 211.3 ppm, using a treatment installation of winding wire diameter of 0.30 mm and Ignition Booster near the spark plug.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve learning achievment  and learning participation of student learning on the study the Teknologi Mekanik in class X Mesin 1 SMK Pancasila Surakarta through the application of the model Team Game Turnament (TGT). This research is a classroom action research (CAR). The results show that through the application of the model Team Game Turnament (TGT) can improve learning achievment  and learning participation of pre-cycle to cycle I and II. The learning process in the pre-cycle using the conventional model so that the students' learning and paticipation lower. The increase occurred in the first cycle a value of students who achieve mastery in the pre-cycle as much as 40.44% increase to 70.07%. Furthermore, on the second cycle increased to 92,59%. For the participationly of students in the observation sheet increased from pre-cycle by 48,14% to 74,08% and the second cycle increased to 92,59%. The conclusions of this research is the application of the Team Game Turnament (TGT) can improve learning achievment and participation of students of class X Mesin 1 SMK Pancasila Surakarta.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve the ability to use the technical measuring tools of the vernier caliper and micrometer through the application of the Drill Learning Method of the students in Grade X of Light Vehicle Engineering Department 2 of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit, Boyolali through the application of the Drill Learning Method.This research is a classroom action research (CAR). The results show that through the application of the the Drill Learning Method can the ability to use the technical measuring tools of the vernier caliper and micrometer of pre-cycle to cycle I and II. The learning process in the pre-cycle using the conventional model so that the who fulfilled the minimum completeness criterion in using the vernier caliper is 40%. Following the treatment, it becomes 60% in Cycle I and 86% in Cycle II respectively. In addition, in the pre-cycle the percentage of the students whose competency in using the micrometer increased is 40%. Following the treatment, it becomes 63% in Cycle I and 83% in Cycle 2 respectively. The conclusions of this research is the application of the can improve the ability to use the technical measuring tools of the vernier caliper and micrometer of students of class X TKR 2 SMK N 1 Sawit Boyolali

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to get the successfulness: (1) in the improvement of the learning activeness in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X M2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type; and (2) in the improvement of the learning achievement in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X M2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of research were the students in Grade X Machinery 2 of the aforementioned school. The sources of research data were observation sheet on the learning activeness and the test of achievement. The data of research were collected through test i.e. written test items non-test i.e. students? learning activeness observation sheet during the implementation. They were validated through content validity for the data obtained through test and construct validity for the data obtained through non-test. The result of research shows that the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type can improve the students? learning activeness as indicated by the result of observation. Prior to the treatment, only one indicator of learning activeness fulfills the target. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, 3 indicators fulfill the target in Cycle I, and all of the indicators fulfill the target in Cycle 2. Furthermore, the students? average score of learning achievement also improves. In the pre-cycle which uses the lecturing method, the completeness of the learning achievement is 41%. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, it becomes 68% in Cycle I and 82% in Cycle II respectively. Thus the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw typecan improve the learning activeness and achievement in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X Machinery 2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research which conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stage. The research was conducted class XI Mechanical Engineering academic year 2014/2015. Data obtained through field observations, interviews, achievement test (pre-test cycle, the first cycle and second cycle) and documentation. This study uses comparative descriptive data analysis techniques. It shows that the implementation of cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) improves the student critical thinking skills and learning outcomes at class XI Mechanical Engineering academic year of 2014/2015 in the subjects of Lathe Machining. In the pre-cycle stage where conventional method was used, it is found that the critical thinking skills and learning outcomes is quite low. When the cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) was applied, the student critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes increase eventhough it was still under the research target of 70% on each of the indicators of critical thinking skills and a minimum of 70% of students completed the minimum mastery criteria (?75). The target value of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the second cycle until been reached the intended target. An increase in the percentage of students who passed the minimum mastery criteria of pre-cycle of 34.375% to 78.125% in the second cycle or an increase of 43.75%.
