Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the competence of students in engineering drawing for X Enginering B grade students of Vocational High School Satate 2 Karanganyar by using computer-based visual media. This research is a classroom action research. The research conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects are X Enginering B grade students of Vocational High School Satate 2 Karanganyar totaling 35 students. Source data come from teachers and students. Data collection techniques in this study are the observation, documentation and testing. Data analysis technique used is descriptive comparative. Research procedures are interrelated spiral model. The results showed that the application of computer-based visual media can enhance the competence to read engineering drawings X Enginering B grade students of Vocational High School Satate Negeri 2 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. This is evidenced by the growing of students competence which seen from the student record before and after the implemented action research. The average value of the X Enginering B grade students in the initial conditions is 63,66 with the number of graduate students as many as 13 or 37% of the total as many as 35 students. The average value of students in the first cycle is 73,54 by the number of graduate students as many as 22 or 9 students more than ever, an increase of 26% and a graduation rate to 63%. Furthermore, the graduation rate of students in the second cycle increased by 20% from the previous so as to 83% or a total of 29 students who graduated with an average of 73,29. The conclusions of this research is the application of computer-based visual media can improve reading competence engineering drawings X Enginering B grade students of Vocational High School State 2 Karanganyar.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate (1) the improvement of the learning activity on the topic of discussion of Diesel Fuel Injection System Repair of the students in Grade XI of Light Vehicle Engineering 1 of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit through the application of the cooperative learning model of the TGT type; and the improvement of the learning comprehension on the topic of discussion of Diesel Fuel Injection System Repair of the students in Grade XI Light Vehicle Engineering 1 of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit through the application of the cooperative learning model of the TGT type. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were the students in Grade XI Light Vehicle Engineering 1 of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit. The sources of the data of research were observation sheet on the learning activity and the result of learning comprehension test. The data of research were collected through test non-test (observation sheet). The data of the former were validated with the content validity and those of the latter were validated with construct validity. The procedures of research consisted of a series of four activities, which were done in repeated cycle namely:  planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The application of the cooperative learning model of the TGT type can improve the students? learning activity and learning comprehension on the topic of discussion of Diesel Fuel Injection System Repair of the students in Grade XI of Light Vehicle Engineering 1 of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit. In Pre-cycle the percentage of the students? learning activity was 45.45%. Following the treatment, it became 66.67% in Cycle I and 81.82% in Cycle II respectively. In Addition, in Pre-cycle, the percentage of the learning comprehension was 48.48%. Following the treatment, it became 66.67% in Cycle I and 81.82% in Cycle II respectively.

Abstract

The objectives of the research are to investigate the following aspects: (1) the relationship between input quality and the learning outcomes of tenth grade students of Pancasila Vocational High School Surakarta, (2) the relationship between learning motivation and learning outcomes of tenth grade students of Pancasila Vocational High School Surakarta, and (3) the relationship between input quality and learning motivation simultaneously to learning outcomestenth grade students of Pancasila Vocational High School Surakarta. This research conducted is quantitative study, the data will be presented in the form of statistical calculations. The method used is correlational, which is intended to look for a causal relationship of the variables. The trial respondents were 30 tenth graders students. 75 students were selected as the sample from the population which consist of 167 studentsby using simple random sampling. The data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentations. Validity test was done by using Pearson Product Moment correlation, while the Cronbach Apha formula was used to test the reability. To determine the effect of each predictor, input quality and learning motivation, to the learning outcomes, simple regression analysis was used, whereas to determine the relationship of input quality and learning motivation simultaneouslyto the learning outcomes, multiple regression analysis was used. The level of significance is 5%. The results showedthat: (1) There is a relationship between input quality(X1) and the learning outcomes (Y) proved by   of is greater than  of , (2) There is a relationship between learning motivation(X2) and learning outcomes(Y) proved by  of is greaterthan which is and (3) There is a relationshipbetween theinput quality(X1) and learning motivation(X2) withlearning outcomes(Y) proved by which is185,142is greater than which is to3,12.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the activeness of student learning and student learning outcomes that daily tests test scores in Engineering Mechanics graders learning XM-1 SMK Pancasila Surakarta by applying cooperative learning model Jigsaw. This research is a classroom action research. The research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects were students in grade XM-1 SMK Pancasila Surakarta totaling 28 students. Source data comes from teachers and students. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, test, and documentation. Validity of data using content validity and construct validity. The data analysis using descriptive analysis techniques and descriptive qualitative comparative. The results showed that the implementation of cooperative learning model of Jigsaw can enhance the activity of learning and student learning outcomes of pra cycle to the first cycle and from cycle I to cycle II. Learning process on pra cycle be teacher centered so that the students' learning activeness low with a percentage of 37.14% and the learning outcomes of students who graduated by 50%. The increase occurred in the I. cycle student learning activeness increased, although not optimal, namely 70.71%, and learning outcomes of students who graduated by 75%. Implementation of the second cycle causing learning activeness increased to 77.14% and the learning outcomes of students who graduated amounted to 82.14% so that it can support a quality learning. The conclusions of this study is to apply the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw enhance the activity of learning and learning outcomes in learning class student of Mechanics Engineering XM-1 SMK Pancasila Surakarta

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of students in Electrical Repair learning, especially at grade XI Automotive 9 Vocational High School Bhinneka Karya, Simo by applying the cooperative learning method of team quiz type. The research is a class action research. Research done in two cycles, every cycle consists of planning, the action, observation, and reflection. The subject of research is a student grade XI, Vocational High School Bhineka Karya, Simo consisting of 34 students. The data come from teachers and students. Data collection techniques taken from student learning results, based on cognitive aspects and student?s psychomotorat the applicants of cognitive learning model team quiz type. The research results showed that through the application Team Quiztypemethodcan improve student learning outcomes at each cycle (cycle I increased 3% and cycle II also increased 4%). The achievement of minimum attainment of students i.e. Students who scored above or equal to 75 is greater than 70%, in this research minimum attainment of students reached until 73%. The conclusion of this research is an applications of Cooperative Learning method by Team Quiz type has increased especiallyin Electrical Repair learning, grade XI Automotive 9 Vocational High School Bhinneka Karya, Simo

Abstract

The research aims at developing the learning media of materials testing and constructing a learning media used for Materials Science course in the Mechanical Engineering Education study program (PTM) of Technical Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) of Sebelas Maret University (UNS). This research employed Research and Development method (R & D).The product design was organized by applying the procedure involving design and development stages, comprising the study of the materials, product qualification, media use, and storyboard construction. The research findings indicate that the product of learning media developed in the research is acceptable, able to meet the qualification of learning media of materials testing, and is therefore classified as Good (87.89%).

Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) to improve the learning?s activity of students on class X TPBO C SMK Negeri 4 Sukoharjo 2014/2015 academic year on the subject of Basic Automotive Electrical Engineering and (2) to improve the students achievement of students on class X TPBO C SMK Negeri 4 Sukoharjo 2014/2015 academic year on the subject of Basic Automotive Electrical Engineering using animation media. This classroom action research consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of action planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subject were students of class X TPBO C SMK Negeri 4 Sukoharjo 2014/2015 academic year. The data sourced of the research derived from the productive teacher, the head of the administration and the students of class X TPBO C SMK Negeri 4 Sukoharjo 2014/2015 academic year which obtained through observation, documentation, interview and test. The data analysis used was comparative descriptive analysis. The result of the research showed that (1) the application of animation media in the learning process can improved learning activity of students class X TPBO C SMK N 4 Sukoharjo on the subject of Basic Automotive Electrical Engineering. The indicator of students enthusiasm followed the learning process there was an increased from 52.01% on cycle 1 to 81.85% on cycle 2. The indicator of student courage to answer the teacher questions there was an increased from 47.58% on cycle 1 to 81.45% on cycle 2. The indicator of the student more confident to speak in front of class there was an increased from 63.30% on cycle 1 to 85.88% on cycle 2. The indicator of student courage to make an opinion increased from 64.51% on cycle 1 to 90.72% on cycle 2. The indicator of student work on the test with their own increased from 75.80% on cycle 1 to 91.12% on cycle 2. (2) the application of animation media in the learning process can improve the student achievement of student on class X TPBO C SMK Negeri 4 Sukoharjo on the subject of Basic Automotive Electrical Engineering. The lowest score increased from 55 on cycle 1 to 70 on cycle 2. The highest score increased from 90 on cycle 1 to 95 on cycle 2. The average score of class increased from 75 on cycle 1 to 85.33 on cycle 2. The conclusion of this research was the application of animation media can improved students activity learning and students learning achievement on subject of  Basic Automotive Electrical Engineering students of class X TPBO C on SMK N 4 Sukoharjo in 2014/2015 academic year.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement observed from student input (Senior High School and Vocational High School) in Study Program of Mechanical Engineering Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sebelas Maret University the generation 2012 and 2013. Types of this research is quantitative research that uses descriptive and cross-sectional as correlational analytic. The population of this research are student in the generation 2012 and 2013. The amounted of student is 133. The research sample are 100 students consist of 52 students in the generation 2012 and 48 students in the generation 2013, the sample is taken by simple random sampling out of the 69 students in the generation 2012 and 64 students in the generation 2013. The data collected by questionaire and documentation. The techniques of data analyz conducted by used simple linier regression test and multiple linier regression test using SPSS version 17.0. The data analyzed by normalitas test, multikolinieritas test dan linieritas test. The result of the statistic multiple linier regression test showed that:Student (1) There is a significant positive relations between interests and motivation of the learning achievement in theory courses of student input from Senior High School in generation 2012, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (5,614 ) > Ftable (3,259) and pvalue = 0,008 (p value < 0,05); (2) There is no correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in practice course of student input from Senior High School in generation 2012, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (2,344) < Ftable (3,259) and pvalue = 0,110 (pvalue > 0,05); (3) There is a significant positive correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in theory course of student input from Vocational High School in generation 2012, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (6,281) > Ftable (4,103) and pvalue = 0,017 (pvalue < 0,05); (4) There is a significant positive correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in practice course of student input from Vocational High School in generation 2012, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (7,486) > Ftable (4,103) and p value = 0,010 (pvalue < 0,05); (5) There is a significant positive correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in theory course of student input from Senior High School in the generation 2013, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (14,481) > Ftable (3,443) and pvalue = 0,000 (pvalue < 0,05); (6) There is a significant positive correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in practice course of student input from Senior High School in generation 2013, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (5,002) > Ftable (3,443) and pvalue = 0,016 (pvalue < 0,05); (7) There is a significant positive correlation between interests and motivation with learning achievement in theory course of student input from Vocational High School in generation 2013, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (4,925) > Ftable (3,493) and pvalue = 0,018 (pvalue < 0,05); (8) There is no correlation between interests and motivation with lea rning achievement in practice course of student input from Vocational High School in generation 2013, it is evidenced with the value of Fcount (3,317) < Ftable (3,493) dan p value = 0,057 (pvalue > 0,05). The conclusion from the research result showed that the interest and motivation with learning achievement in the theory courses have the significant effect with the student input both Senior High School and Vocational High School. Otherwise, that should not too influence with the practice courses. Based on this conclusion shows that the high interest and motivation at the same time will increase the learning achievement in the same time will increase, then to improve learning achievement should be the lecturer foster the interest and motivation of students, thus there are expected to improve the learning achievement both theory and practice cours.

Abstract

The aims of this research were: (1) To examine the effects of variated composition of corncob powder, brass powder (Cu-Zn), magnesium oxide (MgO), and polyester resin composites on the friction coefficient value in brake pads braking performance test by using Prony brake engine; (2) To investigate which brake pads compositions of corncob powder, brass powder (Cu-Zn), magnesium oxide (MgO), and polyester resin composites that has the highest friction coefficient value; (3) To compare the braking performance of corncob powder brake pads with Nissin brake pads. This research used descriptive and quantitative method. The sampling process was done by making three variations of brake pads compositions. Data were obtained by braking performance test using Prony brake engine then calculated using Prony brake formula. The calculation results were presented in tables and graphs, and then analyzed. The conclusions based on this research were: (1) The variated material compositions of brake pads gave effects on the friction coefficient value of the brake pads. This was indicated by the difference values of friction coefficient values for each brake pads compositions. The friction coefficient value of brake pads composition I which consisted of 20% corncob powder, 40% brass powder, 20% MgO, and 20% polyester resin was 0.342. The friction coefficient value of brake pads composition II which consisted of 30% corncob powder, 30% brass powder, 20% MgO, and 20% polyester resin was 0.395. The friction coefficient value of brake pads composition III which consisted of 40% corncob powder, 20% brass powder, 20% MgO, and 20% polyester resin was 0.354; (2) The most optimal brake pads composition which had the highest friction coefficient value was composition II 0.395 with a composition of 30% corncob powder, 30% brass powder, 20% MgO, and 20% polyester resin; (3) The brake pads with corncob powder material had a good braking performance. The friction coefficient values of all brake pads with corncob powder compositions were higher than Nissin brake pads.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) to design and to develop Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009; (2) to identify the impact of the use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on the torque of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009; and (3) to identify the impact of the use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on the power of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. This research used the descriptive quantitative method. The sample of research was Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The data were obtained from the amount of torque and power of the motorcycle using pure premium fuel (standard) and Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection with the compositions of A100 (100% aquades + 0% methanol), A90, A80, A70, A60, and A50. They were put in the table, presented in the form of graph and then analyzed. The results of research are as follows: 1) The design and development of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection can work and operate well on Motorcycle Honda MegaPro 2009. 2) The use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection has impacts on the torque of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The best maximum torque produced was 13.13 Nm at 6097 rpm or the amount of the torque increased as much as 0.34 Nm or 2.65%, by using the water injection (A60). The worst maximum torque produced was 12.75 Nm at 6288 rpm by using water injection (A90), or it decreased as much as 0.04 Nm or 0.31% from the maximum torque produced by motorcycle without using the water injection (standard) whose power was 12.79 Nm at 5883 rpm. 3) The use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection has impacts on the power of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The best maximum power produced was 12.6 HP at 7556 rpm or the amount of power increased as much as 0.2 HP or 1.61%, by using water injection (A60). Meanwhile, the worst maximum powers produced were 12.3 HP at 8115 rpm by using the water injection (A100) and 12.3 HP at 7517 rpm by using water injection (A70), or the power decreased as much as 0.1 HP or 0.80% from the maximum power produced by motorcycle without using the water injection (standard) whose power was 12.4 HP at 7446 rpm.
