Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic is the biggest challenge for physiotherapists in providing health services to stroke patients, that physiotherapists must take innovative and adaptive approaches to monitor patient progress. Currently, tele-physiotherapy is a global trend that can be applied by physiotherapists during the COVID-19 pandemic to improve secondary health-care for stroke patients. This study aims to determine the effect of tele-physiotherapy on the quality of life of stroke patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The design of this study was a systematic literature review, the independent variable is tele-physiotherapy and the dependent variable is quality of life with stroke patients as the study subjects. Literature search was conducted on four search engines, namely PMC, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and Europe PMC. There are 8 eligible literature obtained by the PICOS method. The types of tele-physiotherapy provided are the MERLIN system, GR Mirror Therapy, Home-based individual's exercise, Fitness and Mobility Exercise program, GCS, Home-Based Rehabilitation, Home Exercise Program (tele-rehabilitation), and Supervised Home-based Self-rehabilitation program. There is an effect of tele-physiotherapy on the quality of life of stroke patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Plantar fasciitis occurs due to excessive stretching of the plantar fascia which can lead to inflammation of the plantar fascia dimedial calcaneus. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of increasing functional activity with ice massage interventions and exercise therapy in cases of plantar fasciitis. This research method is pure experimental with randomized pre-test and post-test group design. In this study 9 respondents as group I were given ice massage intervention and 9 respondents as group II were given exercise therapy intervention. Physical examination of physiotherapy and measurement of increased functional activity were performed using the foot and ankle disability index (FADI). The test results showed an increase in functional activity with exercise therapy intervention before and after treatment in groups using non-parametric tests with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test because the normality value was before P> 0.05 and the value after intervention was P <0.05 data with p = 0.008 (p <0.05), it means that there is a difference before and after treatment in this group. The conclusion in this study is that the effectiveness of increasing functional activity with exercise therapy interventions is better than giving ice massage in cases of plantar fasciitis which can be seen from the mean difference between the ice massage group 15.11 + 4.81 and the exercise therapy group 29.11 + 10.07.

Abstract

Background: One of the most popular measurements in static balance tests in elderly population is one leg standing test. However, the one leg standing procedure varies in opened and closed eyes. Objective: This study was to investigated the procedure differences on the measurement of static balance with one leg standing in elderly population. Method: The experimental study was conducted on 34 elderly with MMSE value> 24 points. Do one leg standing with two sessions, 1st session standing on one leg with opened eyes, while 2nd session one leg standing with closed eyes. Each session is carried out 3 times with a 1 minute break between sessions. Results: Mann Whitney test with a sig value> (0.05) obtained results p-value 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study was indicated that there is a significant difference in the value of one leg standing with opened eyes and one leg standing with closed eyes. Suggestion: The examination procedure will give different results. So it is recommended that clinician use the same procedure in evaluating patients with static balance problems.

Abstract

Background: Children with intellectual disabilities are children who have a lower intellectual level than normal children in their age, it causes intellectual disability children poor in child’s development that effect cognitive, motoric skill, social, and emotions. Mild intellectual disabilities is the largest population of various categories of intellectual disabilities. This study aims to determine the effect of Perceptual-Motor Training on eye, hand, and foot coordination skill of intellectual disability children in SLB Laniang Makassar. Method: This study use a quasi-experimental design with the type of one group pre test and post test. The subject of this study were mild intellectual disability children in aged 10-14 years old and able to communicate. The number of respondent was 17 children and attend Perceptual-Motor Training for 12 treatment in 4 weeks. Result: The results of this study after Shapiro Wilk normality test obtained normal distribution data (p >0.05), then carried out hypothesis testing using Paired T - Test and obtained a significant value p < 0.001 (p <0.05). The data analysis from pre test and post test showed that all respondent has an increase on motor coordination. Conclusion: Perceptual-Motor Training have a significant effect to improve eye, hand, and foot coordination skill of  intellectual disabilities children in SLB Laniang MakassarKeywords: Perceptual-Motor Training, motor coordination, intellectual disabilities
