Abstract

This research aims to find information about gender issues exploited by the author in The Jakarta Post short story ascribed by Yanusa Nugroho entitled Umairoh. The objectives of the research are 1. To investigate how women are described and positioned in the short story 2. To assess the implied attitudes of the author toward gender in the short story. 3. To identify the attitudes of the editors toward gender in the short story. The research results that; first women are described and positioned in the short story as suffered and powerless human beings. Second, the author implies that both women and men have ambivalent attitudes toward gender. Third, the editors let gender issues go to the public without qualification.

Abstract

This article is a study focused on the rise of islamic historiography in the middle age. At that time many Muslim historians developed new methodology and trend on their study. They wrote their study based on rational interpretation and not merely focused on political aspect, but expanded to other aspects such as geographical and natural The fact of these rising study had strongly influenced by renaisans of Islam.

Abstract

In this short essay, basically break down the discussion into three main parts. In the introductory part. glance briefly on the origins of arabiyah and the founding of lslamic religion as a focal point in shaping and solving the Arabic language. The second part, the elaboration revolves on historical change and renewal in Arabic during the early islamic Era (Arabic Poetry)and Middle Age in a wide sense includes the development of knowledge and attitude of scholars at that time. And the last section. wholly discovering the Modern problems of changing and renewal in Arabic. I choose two contemporary scholars in Middle East commenting on this issue.

Abstract

Abstract: In academic world there is an axiom which declares that every science discovered by human being through scientific research should be based on solid theoretical framework which will be used as a way of thinking paradigm or solving problem philosophy. This paradigm should be in dynamic condition and used to solve problematic issues. revewing process to clarify the truth of the theory is applicable to all knowledge, such as religion, pure and social science. In order to develop link between Indonesia and Malaysia educational institution, an altemative paradigm framewrok is needed to be put into action. This alternative paradigm is a necessity to discuss the history of the development of Islam in Malay region which is suited with lslamic worldview as well as the unique and specific nature of Malay.

Abstract

Abdush Shamad a-Falimbani is a notorious scholar in the 18th century. He traveled to learn at di verse scientific centers. He studied various disciplines; thereby being a successful learned man,devoted Sufi, gifted teacher, and productive writer. He wrote various books that draw his thoughts. These past activities of al-Falimbani become important resources for research in the intellectual historiography of Islam. This article shows this significance.
