Abstract

The Indonesian stock market is unique because of its economic relations with China and the United States, the world’s two biggest economies that are severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study examines the short-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock price movements on the Indonesian stock exchange. Our investigation identifies patterns of market responses in terms of stock price movements in the period. We find that the outbreak has affected, in terms of market response, the manufacturing and non-manufacturing stocks similarly. The impact of the outbreak seems to be felt by almost all economic sectors in a similar way. However, based on the result, the investors’ perception of the finance sector is more favorable relative to the other sectors during the pandemic. Several stocks identified have the potential to re-bounce if market conditions return to normal.

Abstract

An advertisement can be effective if the advertisement content and message conveyed by the marketer are right on target, and consumers are motivated to make a purchase. Where consumer’s purchase intentions are formed from the harmonious integration of various factors, both in terms of products marketed through advertising media to consumer responses themselves after they are exposed to advertising impressions. This study is based on a survey of 135 online respondents in Indonesia. The proposed hypotheses were tested using Structural Equation Model using the LISREL program. This study aims to explain the extent to which consumer product involvement, attitudes towards advertising, ad cognition, and perceived value influence consumers’ purchase intentions. This study found that there was a positive relationship between consumer product involvement and attitudes towards ad and ad cognition, and perceived value had an effect on consumer purchase intentions. As a managerial implication, our results can help strategic marketing managers, content creators, and marketers to focus on the identified factors driving advertising effectiveness..

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between non-financial information and firm profitability. The data and samples were extracted from publicly listed companies (PLCs) operating in the U.S. hypercompetitive industry. The U.S. (NYSE) setting of the study was chosen due to the efficiency of its capital market. The efficiency of the NYSE can be identified from the rapid adjustment of stock price movement as a consequence of incoming new information. By employing panel data regression analysis of 83 companies spanning from 2011 to 2016 (498 firm-year observations), this study tests the relevance of firms’ non-financial on firm profitability. The findings suggest that non-financial information has shown a positive and relevant association with firm profitability. Thus, the presence of CSR reports (CSR_Rep), and high CSR performance scores (CSR_Perf) as the proxies of non-financial information is positively associated with firms’ profitability (ROA and ROE). In this regard, the company might explore the benefit of gaining a positive reputation and better business legitimacy from society as well as their stakeholders.

Abstract

Changes in the way of working have begun to occur along with changes in the environment. This study aims to see the direct effect of flexible work arrangements in terms of flexibility of place and time with conflict between roles such asWork-Home and Home-Work Conflict and to see the moderating effect of strong ties to work (on the job embeddedness) and strong ties outside of work oroff the job embeddednessto voluntary turnover during the pandemic. This research was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires in October to December 2021 to 200 employees of the foreign-owned Transportation Management Services Industry assigned to the administration, finance, marketing and human resources departments operating in Indonesia. Structural Equation Model (SEM) with SmartPLS was used to analyze the data obtained. The results of the study show that flexible working arrangements has almost the same negative effect on Home-Work Conflict and Work-Home Conflict. And both conflicts have a positive effect on Voluntary Turnover with a greater positive influence on Home-Work Conflict and on the moderation of On and Off The Job Embeddedness found only in the moderating effect of Off The Job Embeddedness which moderates the positive influence between Home-Work Conflict and Voluntary Turnover..

Abstract

This study investigates stock market reaction in leisure industries to the first Government announce- ment of the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia on March 2, 2020. This study used event study meth- odology and was supported by multiple linear regression to analyze the relationship between market reaction and independent variables. The analysis was further modeled using Fama French three-fac- tor models to estimate the expected return on firms due to the first COVID-19 outbreak announce- ment. Based on our calculation of Cumulative abnormal returns, the stock of tourism industries has more negative reaction towards a confirmed first case of COVID-19 compared to other industries. We also find that Indonesian firms with greater cash reserves experienced less negative stock returns while firms with higher leverage ratios were penalized more. Additionally, this paper does not find that firms with Chief Executive Officers (CEO) who were exposed to significant health risks from COVID-19 experienced worse stock market performances.

Abstract

Decision-making is a complex process of selecting the best available option from several options. This study examines the psychological and social factors which are affecting investment decisions. Some studies from Western and Middle Eastern countries prove that psychology does have a relationship and influence on investors’ decision-making in their stock market. Based on these, the researchers tried to review the research and add social factors as additional variables. Questionnaires were randomly distributed to 105 investors who are students, private employees, entrepreneurs, civil servants and others from the age range of less than 25 years to more than 55 years who have been involved in the market which shows that psychological factors and social factors as a whole have influence on investment decision making in Indonesia Stock Exchange’s retail investors..

Abstract

Halal tourism is a recent breakthrough and offers a more unrestricted travel experience than other religious-based travels and is promising in the future. However, the experience of travel based on Is- lamic law is still neglected in academic discussion. This study intends to identify tourists’ perceptions of the presence of halal tourism through model development. This study used deductive reasoning in developing and examining a model using structural equation modeling. The model simultaneous- ly involved several constructs: halal service quality, halal tourist satisfaction, halal destination image, and halal destination loyalty. Questionnaires were distributed online to gain insight from domestic tourists who are individuals who make repeated visits to a halal tourist destination, and obtained 424 valid questionnaires. The findings of the hypotheses in the model have a high significance in explaining the relationships between constructs. Halal tourism service providers need to dwell on and improve the quality of halal destination service quality to develop tourist satisfaction, image, and return visits. This research model leads to measuring the perception of halal tourist destinations that are challenging to find.

Data analysis using path analysis. The research approach is quantitative research with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires as a data collection tool. The sample used was 225 nurses. Data analysis using path analysis. The test results showed that: POS, O.J. and S.L. partially had a significant positive impact on E.E.; POS, O.J., S.L., and E.E. partially had a significant positive impact on OCB; E.E. significantly mediates the relationship of POS and S.L. with OCB, but E.E. does not mediate the relationship between O.J. and OCB. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that POS, O.J., and S.L play an important role in growing E.E and OCB. This needs to be considered by the management so that the organization can run effectively in realizing organizational goals.
