Abstract

Keywords: Psychological, self esteem.This research is focus on psychological conflict that underwent by the main characters on Gnomeo and Juliet Movie Cartoon.  This movie cartoon tells about the two families, The Blues and The Reds that are rival. They always be the best and reach a higher social class to show their self esteem. But, unintentionally their children met and fallen in love each other. Finally, their children named Gnomeo and Juliet have promises’ to live together.Because of that, the main characters have the problem in Deciding between love and self-esteem, and the researcher uses the theory of Abraham Maslow to reveal this problem. In this theory, the researcher tries to know the steps that taken by the main characters in choosing between their love and self-esteem.Based on the analysis, the researcher finds that there are three steps that taken by the main characters to reveal their problem. The first steps is that they realize that they fallen in love each other. The second step is they realize that their love is above everything and the last or the third step is that they struggle to proof that love can make everything better.

Abstract

Kata kunci : PUISI, SEMIOTIKPuisi merupakan salah satu bentuk kesusastraan yang mengungkapkan pikiran dan perasaan penyair secara imajinatif dan disusun dengan mengkonsentrasikan kemampuan bahasa, yakni dengan mengkonsentrasikan unsur fisik dan batinnya. Selain itu, puisi adalah karya sastra yang memiliki estetika kebahahasaan yang padat dan dapat menjadi alat mengekspresikan suatu kepribadian. Oleh karena itu, puisi yang dihasilkan setiap orang memiliki bahasa yang khas, yaitu bahasa yang memuat tanda-tanda atau semiotik dalam unsur-unsur pembentuknya. Analisis semiotik memandang bahwa sebuah karya sastra adalah kumpulan tanda-tanda yang dapat diinterpretasikan sesuai dengan konteksnya. Semiotika yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini hanya dibatasi dengan ikon, indeks dan simbol.Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif karena menghasilkan data deskripsi tentang kata-kata tertulis. Sedangkan pendekatan yang digunakan ialah analisis semiotik. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah berupa 5 puisi karya Li Bai. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yakni dengan cara mengidentifikasi dan menandai tanda-tanda yang terdapat dalam puisi. Selanjutnya untuk menjaga keabsahan data dilakukan kecermatan, ketekunan, mengevaluasi kembali analisis yang telah dilakukan  dan  mendiskusikannya dengan dosen pembimbing.Berdasarkan analisis data tersebut, diperoleh beberapa kesimpulan yaitu  deskripsipenggunaan ikon untuk menggambarkan suasana secara umum, deskripsipenggunaan indeks untuk mempresentasikan penggambaran sesuatu melalui tandadan mendeskripsikan penggunaan simbol untuk menyimpulkan penggambaranmelalui tanda.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Pragmatik, Tindak Tutur Ilokusi Ekspresif, Film Himitsu No Akko Chan The MoviePenelitian ini berjudul Tindak Tutur Ilokusi Ekspresif dalam Film “Himitsu No Akko Chan The Movie” Karya Fujio Akatsuka membahas tentangsalah satu cabang ilmu dalam linguistik yaitu pragmatik. Dalam pragmatikmembahas tentang tindak tutur yang dilakukan oleh seseorang kepada seseorang yang lain untuk menyampaikan maksud dan tujuan yang mereka ingin sampaikan.Tindak tutur ilokusi menurut George Yule diklasifikasikan menjadi 5 dan salahsatunya yaitu ilokusi ekspresif,jenis tindak tutur yang menyatakan sesuatu yang dirasakan oleh penutur.Untuk mempermudah penelitian maka penulis merumuskan masalah yang akan dibahas sebagai berikut: (1) Tindak tutur ilokusi ekspresif apa sajakah yang terdapat dalam film “Himitsu No Akko Chan The Movie”?, (2) Apa fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi ekspresif dalam film “Himitsu No Akko Chan The Movie” dilakukan?. Ilokusi ekspresif yang akan dibahas dalam penelitian ini hanya kesenangan dan kemarahan dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penulis menemukan 45 data temuan dalam penelitian ini, dan apabila dijabarkan beserta fungsinya sebagai berikut : (1) Tindak tutur ekspresif kesenangan memiliki fungsikonvivial mengucapkan terima kasih 2 temuan, mengucapkan syukur 5 temuan,menyakinkan 1 temuan, memuji 1 temuan dan mengucapkan selamat 1 temuan.Selain itu ada fungsi kolaboratif menyatakan 11 temuan dan mengumumkan 1 temuan. (2) Tindak tutur ekspresif kemarahan memiliki fungsi kompetitifmemerintah 4 temuan dan menuntut 3 temuan, sedangkan kolaboratif memerintah1 temuan. Selain itu ada fungsi konfliktif memarahi 3 temuan, menegur 2 temuan, mengomeli 3 temuan, mencerca 3 temuan, mengeluh 1 temuan, menuduh 1 temuan, mengecam 1 temuan, dan mengancam 1 temuan.Pada penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan akan ada yang meneliti lebi mendalam dengan objek yang sama namun dengan pembahasan yang berbeda. Misalkan meneliti dari segi tindak tutur ilokusi direktif beserta dengan fungsinya. Selain itu dapat juga meneliti dengan objek yang berbeda namun tema yang sama.

Keywords:American Transcendentalism, Manifestation of Effort, The Emerging Spirituality Energy, The Celestine Prophecy, The Tenth Insight.The social phenomena in America are used by some authors to create thestory of a literary work in order to make it representable in appreciation some societies in particular era. James Redfield is one of American authors in 1990’s who interested in describing the human potential movement and turned it totheories about intuitions, the historical perspective background of the emergingspirituality that discussed in his novels, The Celestine Prophecy and The Tenth Insight.Transcendentalism approach is applied in this study because it deals with theidea of a development on human thoughts. This approach brings to the use ofDivine value which leads to the intuiton, the clue of nature, historical perspective,relating with others, and holding vision by God for humans who seek theirdestiny. John Woodson as the main character on the novel is used as therepresentative objectto study because his personal experience on his journey andadventure towards his efforts to find the ancient manuscript phenomenon thathappens in Peru. The result of this study reveals that the existence of the two roots ofAmerican Philoshophy known as American Transcendentalism, are stillpreserved. John Woodson succesfully manifests the goals of AmericanTranscendentalism that certainly taken from spirituality values’s idea through hisefforts told in the novels. This result leads to the comprehension of how AmericanTranscendentalism influence American’s mind in fulfilling his purpose life orachievement.

Abstract

Keywords:  Existence, Human, Theistic, God, ProcessIn balance, harmony and conformity among living things in this world that can occur through by the prevailing values. These values work as a constituent  of goodness where the goodness itself has relation to God as the regulator ofeverything. In the movie entitled The Invention of Lying tells about a man whoundergo a process of finding his true identity as a human being and understanding of the existence of God and also the values who created by God for human life.  In connection with the divine principle, Existentialism is a theory that examines the existence of God which is divided into two parts: theistic andatheistic. In theistic view, God is exist and involved in every things happens in humans life, God has a big role in it. But in the opposite, atheistics, Human do not confess any existence of God and  His in volvement. In writing this paper the author uses the theory of existentialism as the basic aproach for assessing thismovie entitled The Invention of Lying. The writer find some significant parts ofthe theistic side on the process of main character experience in understanding the existence of God and devine power in this movie.  Mark Bellison as the main character in this movie is a figure of inspiration that contributes a change of life insights to a lot of people around him. He becomes the only figure conveying concepts of God, death, afterlife, heaven andhell. He also reconstructs a concept of good human being as those who care about others. People give attention to manners and obey rules of God as the creator oflife and the universe. There are three series  in the process of understanding values of the divinity by the main character; find new faith, test of the faith and the final results. However, regardless of the final story in this film, the main character here has found the concept of devinity to prove that God is exists. In addition, people around Mark Bellison also receive Mark’s to convey the concept of God.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Komposisi, Makna Idiomatik, Kata Majemuk Nomina.Bahasa tersusun dari beberapa komponen yang salah satunya adalah kata. Kata merupakan kumpulan bunyi dan huruf yang memiliki arti. Kata dibedakan menjadi dua yaitu kata asal yang terdiri dari satu morfem dan kata jadian yang merupakan hasil turunan melalui proses morfologis. Salah satu proses morfologis adalah komposisi, yaitu proses penggabungan dua morfem atau lebih. Setelah melalui komposisi, makna kata majemuk tidak selalu sesuai dengan makna gabungan unsurnya, tetapi membentuk makna baru.Penelitian ini menggunakan koran Kougaku yang terbit 1 Juni 2011 dengan rumusan masalah, (1)Bagaimana komposisi yang dapat membentuk kata majemuk nomina pada koran Kougaku edisi 1 Juni 2011 dan (2)Apa jenis makna idiomatikal yang terkandung dalam komposisi kata majemuk nomina pada koran Kougaku edisi 1 Juni 2011.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Dengan data temuan adalah 28 data, data dianalisis morfem pembentuknya, menunjukkan makna tiap morfem, menganalisis makna kata majemuk tersebut, lalu mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian.Hasil penelitian ini diketahui bahwa kata majemuk nomina bahasa Jepang dapat terbentuk dari komposisi berupa nomina + nomina, verba ＋ nomina, adjektiva＋nomina, nomina＋verba yang dinominalkan, dan verba＋verba yangdinominalkan. Jenis makna idiomatik kata majemuk nomina bahasa Jepang terdiridari makna idiom, makna semi-idiom, dan makna non-idiom.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Interpretasi, Kuda, Peribahasa. Setiap makhluk hidup saling berkomunikasi. Dalam komunikasi dibutuhkan bahasa untuk mengungkapkan perasaan, ide, pikiran. Penelitian yang berjudul Interpretasi Makna Kata Uma (Kuda) Pada Peribahasa Jepang ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa saja peribahasa Jepang yang mengandung kata kuda serta arti dan proses pembentukannya. Berdasarkan alasan di atas, maka penulis membuat rumusan masalahnya yaitu apa saja peribahasa Jepang yang mengandung kata uma (kuda) dan bagaimana proses pembentukan peribahasa Jepang yang menggunakan kata uma (kuda) tersebut.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Analisis deskriptif pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna berupa interpretasi dari peribahasa Jepang yang menggunakan kata uma (kuda). Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini antara lain adalah kamus peribahasa Jepang dan juga home page.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 50 data berupa peribahasa Jepang yang menggunakan kata uma (kuda). Kemudian, dengan menganalisa menggunakan makna denotatif dan konotatif, ditemukan kesesuaian peribahasa Jepang dengan artinya. Dari hasil analisa tersebut, dapat dikembangkan berupa interpretasi dan pembentukan peribahasa Jepang tersebut.

Abstract

Keyword: Sociolinguistic, Speech, Speech Style.This study is about speech style of Joko Widodo in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit (IYCS) 2012. There are three problems to be solved in this study: (1) What are the types of speech style used by Joko Widodo in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit 2012; (2) what types of speech are mostly used by Joko Widodo in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit 2012; (3) what factors influence Joko Widodo in using certain speech in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit 2012.This study formulation uses qualitative approach to give clear understanding without any hypothesis approach. The data of this study Joko Widodo’s utterance in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit (IYCS) speech 2012.This study reveals the type of speech style of Martin Joos theory (frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style, intimate style) used by Joko Widodo in Indonesia Young Changemaker Summit 2012. From the complete sentences used by Joko Widodo in his speech, it is revealed that he tends to use consultative style as the major style of his speech. He does not use frozen style and intimate style in formal conference. Age and social background of the addressee become the main factor for Joko Widodo in using consultative style.For the next study, the writer suggests that this thesis can be used as an additional reference or comparative studies about speech style which analyzes human speech or other form of utterance. The writer also suggests that the other studies about speech style should be done to improve the finding and result of the previous studies.

Abstract

Keywords: Cooperative Principle, Flouting Maxims, We Bought A Zoo movie People use language to communicate with others in their society. They use it to express their ideas, thoughts, messages in a conversation. One way to make the conversation becomes successful is by fulfilling The Cooperative Principle by Grice (1989). There are four maxims which need to be fulfilled in the principles namely, maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relation, and maxim of manner. However, in reality people sometimes disobey the maxims, and when they do that, it means that they are flouting the maxims. When flouting maxim happens, there will be implicature arises. It is an implied or intended meaning from a speaker’s utterance that is expected to be understood by the hearer. The writer conducts a study about flouting maxim in We Bought A Zoo movie. There are two problems to be solved in the study, namely: (1) What maxims are flouted in the main character’s utterances in We Bought A Zoo movie (2) What intended meaning of the utterances are being flouted by the main characters on We Bought A Zoo movie.This study uses qualitative approach since the data are in the form of words rather than number or statistics. In this study the data are the utterances of the main characters which contain flouting maxims. The data are collected and analyzed based on the theory of Cooperative Principle by Grice (1989).The result of this study reveals that all the maxims are flouted in the main character’s utterances. The intended meaning of the utterances being flouted are to emphasize a point in a conversation, to express a burden in doing something, to force someone to do something, to mock a character’s behaviour, to decline an intention, to make a joke, to hide the truth, change the subject of conversation, to give opinion, and to refuse an order.The writer suggests the next researcher to explore more about the objectives of the study such as by identifying the reason in flouting the maxim or by trying to analyze whether there is any correlation between a character’s personality or traits with their tendency to do flouting maxim in their communication.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : Kanji, Jukugo, Karakter Dasar, Onnahen. Manusia diciptakan sebagai makhluk yang paling sempurna di dunia. Mereka memiliki bahasa dan huruf yang mereka ciptakan untuk berkomunikasi. Pada huruf kanji, masing-masing huruf memiliki makna dan naritachi. Penelitian yang berjudul Makna Jukugo pada Kanji yang Memiliki Karakter Dasar “Onnahen” yang Terdapat pada Majalah Nikkei Women edisi 4 (April 2005) ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang makna dari huruf kanji yang berkaitan maupun yang tidak berkaitan langsung dengan wanita. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Analisis deskriptif pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna dari karakter dasar onnahen pada jukugo yang terdapat pada majalah Nikkei Women edisi 4 (April 2005).Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 32 data berupa jukugo dengan karakter dasar onnahen. Kemudian di analisis maknanya sehingga menghasilkan makna baru. Dari analisis tersebut, dapat ditemukan makna jukugo dengan karakter dasar onnahen yang memiliki keterkaitan dan yang tidak memiliki keterkaitan langsung dengan wanita.
