Abstract

This article aims to analyze the development of philosophical Sufism of the Wahdat al-Wujūd school or in Malay-Nusantara term called Wujūdiyya. The research approach uses descriptive analysis. The research data use references related to the Wahdat al-Wujūd study. The research findings show that the essence of Sufism is philosophical Sufism. In the early days, philosophical Sufism focused on the philosophical meaning of some verses of Al-Qur’an. The early generations of philosophical Sufism were taught, among others, by Rabi’ah al-Adawiyah and Sufyān ats-Tsaurī. The philosophical study of Sufism was started by Dhu’nūn al-Misrī. Then followed by Abū Yazid al-Bistamī with Hulūl teachings and Abū Mansūr al-Hallaj with Ittihad teachings. The teachings of Hulūl and Ittihad were then questioned by ‘Ain al-Qudhad Hamadanī, because these concepts necessitate duality, even though Wahdat al-Wujūd does not accept dual existence. ‘Urafā at that time did not have adequate language tools to teach Wahdat al-Wujūd. It was only at the time of Ibn ‘Arabī that Wahdat al-Wujūd could be explained systematically and holistically, because at the time of Ibn ‘Arabī, philosophical language was very mature thanks to al-Hikmah al-Masya’iyyah, especially by Ibn Sīnā.

Abstract

This article aims to highlight the position of 'Allāl and Sahal in the development of Maqāṣid al-Syar'a theory and its application to political, social, and economic problems. The approach is carried out by examining their intellectual career background, examining the theory of the development of Maqāṣid al-Syar'a theory and how they implement it. As a result, 'Allal and Sahal took different positions about Maqāṣid al-Syar'a, although in the and they produced similar or almost the same legal opinions. They both propose a democratic government, an economy that prioritizes the interests of the community, and social conditions that prioritize the interests of women. The dominant difference lies in the characteristics of the choice of sources that indicate affiliation. ' Allāl more often refers to the Qur'an and Sunnah as recommended by the Salafis. While Sahal more often refers to the fiqh tradition advocated by traditional schools, by accommodating modern theories, such as philosophy and social sciences. At this point, the author argues that the concept of Maqāṣid al-Syar'a is a meeting point for various tendencies rooted in the Sunni intellectual tradition, including the different tendencies espoused by 'Allāl and Sahal.

Abstract

This article examines the existence of a tradition and the content of the values of the Islamic scriptures (Al-Qur’an and Hadith) inherent and practiced in the Gugur Gunung tradition carried out by the community in Gunungpring Village, Magelang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed qualitatively through Karl Mannheim’s sociological perspective of knowledge into three meanings: objective, expressive, and documentary. The results of the study are presented as follows. The objective meaning of the Gugur Gunung tradition is a tradition that has existed for a long time and is still being maintained today in various conditions. While expressive meaning can be captured two inherent meanings, namely the meaning of life in the later days and the meaning of the inheritance of past lives from ulama. The documentary meaning of this tradition is to foster harmonization (gotong royong, tolerance, please help) and as a medium of spirituality education for the community in maintaining a tradition. Through reading the Sociology of Knowledge using the three meanings above, it can be understood that the existence of a tradition that can survive in society will always continue to be preserved if two aspects are built that are bound together. First, internally there is a spiritual belief in  the values of the past and life in the later days. Secondly, externally, it deals with the order of socio-religious harmonization in society. The various values inherent in this tradition are in line with the teachings of the Islamic scriptures. Thus these values will continue to be produced and practiced in life in society.

Abstract

Religious moderation is politically included in public policies that are integrated into the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional, RPJMN). Ministry of Religion as the leading sector for mainstreaming religious moderation in its environment has the responsibility to translate religious moderation from the narrative of religious moderation to the real action in its institutional units. This research is qualitative research conducted at State Islamic University (Universitas Islam Negeri, UIN) Walisongo Semarang which seriously promotes religious moderation in the institution. The results of this study are the problem of strengthening identity politics as one of the main causes of religious extremism and social change that exist, one of the efforts to minimize social turmoil in UIN Walisongo is by instilling the values of religious moderation through the tri dharma of university, namely teaching, research, and community service. The aspect of locality is the main capital in implementing religious moderation at UIN Walisongo. Indigenous religiosity combines religion and locality with a theo-anthropocentric approach, exploring cultural values in order to strengthen religion in the implementation aspect. The impact of the implementation of the data religious moderation policy is seen from the realm of ideality of policy content in the religious moderation policy, which can be seen from the integration of relations or a harmonious relationship between individual elements and social elements in human interaction which is the main target in the religious moderation policy promoted by the Ministry of Religion.

Abstract

This writing discusses ta’abbudi and ta’aqquli in Islamic jurisprudence, aiming to provide comprehensive insight into both of these terms. Positioning oneself as a mukallaf (a responsible and accountable individual), on one hand, acknowledges that acts of worship (ta’abbudi) must be fully accepted, whether or not one comprehends their meanings, as they are divine commands. Similarly, on the other hand, a mukallaf is granted the authority and capability to employ reason in dealings with worldly matters (mu’amalah), enabling the development of laws in accordance with the changing times. In the context of Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance, at-Ta’abbud and at-Ta’aqqul hold significant relevance. Article 10, paragraphs (1) and (2), regulate the requirements for halal products, encompassing raw materials, production processes, storage, as well as processing, handling, and packaging procedures. This indicates that at-Ta’abbud plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with halal product requirements. Furthermore, Article 10, paragraph (3), emphasizes that halal products must be verified by accredited halal certification bodies. This underscores the importance of at-Ta’aqqul in analyzing and verifying the halal status of products.
