Abstract

This research reveals all the signs and symbols of discrimination and racism in film Aus- tralia. The film is a film with a kind of fiction, but the story of the film is part of the true story of the conflict between the Aborigines by white men filled with the treatment of discrimination and racism. This behavior occurred since the arrival of white people who are British prisoners exiled to Australia. The white men then build a new colony by opening the land to the Aborigines being displaced into the interior, and they assume that the Aborigines are a group of people with an ancient culture and have no intellectual capacity so that their existence as a tribe native to Australia is considered bad by the people white. This research explores the signs of discrimination and racism in Australian films using triangulation from Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory is then obtained result is a representation of the meaning of discrimination and racism found in Australian films. In the study of signs and symbols in the film Australia. This research is also supported by the articles about the social reality in Australia, articles and discrimination and racism in the film text analysis. The research results obtained representation of the symbols of discrimination and racism contained in the Australian films that are part of everyday life between Aboriginal and white people. Discrimination and racism itself is still not an integral part of social life in Australia, and unfair behavior arbitrarily still frequently in Aboriginal gain by the existence of which began in get rid of white people.

Abstract

PT Kereta Api (Persero) is a state-owned company engages in the ground transportation service. To maintain the existence and compete with other transport services is required to provide optimum service to the community as the train service users to be satisfied with the services provided by doing a variety of efforts to improve the quality of service for rail service users through various strategies. One of them is an employee relations strategy to improve employee performance and company image, because the employees are the spearhead of a company that have an important role for the progress of the company. This study aims to determine the program or employee relations activities organized by public relations to improve employee performance and image of the PT Kereta Api (Persero), to see the strategy and planning of public relations and employee relations programs especially to improve employee performance and company image, to know the media used and the constraints in the implementation of employee relations programs. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research, it is conducted by collecting factual information that describes existing phenomena, and then identified in order to get a description that can be evaluated. Formulation data with interviews conducted with resource persons, observation and literature study. Based on the research conducted, it can be seen employee relations strategies that run on PT Kereta Api (Persero) is divided into programs that consist of various activities, including program management and development of quality human resources, employee welfare programs, socialization programs corporate culture, achievement motivation programs, special events programs, and internal communications media programs. The results from studies show that employee relations strategies in the PT Kereta Api (Persero) have been regarded as fairly successful run because it gives a fairly good response from the employee, be accepted by the employee and the employee has been satisfied with the various activities organized by public relations at PT Kereta Api (Persero). Public Relations of PT Kereta Api (Persero) play a role in establishing and maintaining good relations and mutual understanding between the company and public so that can create a positive image of the company. For that reasons employee relations should be established well in order to provide satisfactory service to customers. The most important element in employee relations is communication employees.

Abstract

It was originally presented in Yogyakarta as a community magazine for The Alumni with the contents about the details of Yogyakarta. The formulation of the research is how brand equity improves the brand image of KABARE Magazine. The type of the research is qualitative with KABARE Magazine as the object of the research, located in Jl. Pacar 67A, Baciro, Yogyakarta. Primary data source are obtained from the Executive Director of PT. KABARE Jogja Media Pariwara, while secondary data are gathered through mass media, internet, and so on. In order to conduct validity test, the researcher uses source triangulation and data analysis technique of combination analysis model. The result of this research is about image which is the evaluation from consumers regarding a product. Creating an image requires high persistence and patience. Image is resulted from a score of result obtained by a company for its product, either positive or negative. The image of KABARE Magazine as a dynamic magazine by levering culture, the social life dynamics in Yogyakarta has clung to the heart of its consumers. Brand equity produced by KABARE essentially is a magazine for upper middle class segmentation and is still bound to their community. KABARE Magazine creates image as an exclusive lifestyle magazine, highly cultural and has distinctive local content. The brand of KABARE already has a spot in the hearts of its customers. The strong bonding established by KABARE with its customers has built “a real belonging” to the brand of this magazine. Removing the word Jogja to the logo of KABARE has prevented public opinion concerning an excessive cultural cult of a region.

Abstract

An earthquake occurred on Tangerang, Banten around at 3 a.m. Many water debit from torrential rain on Cirendeu village causes broken down of dike which build more or less 10 meters in 1930s. There are 100 people died effect of water knocking more or less 4 meters to citizen housing that was sleeping. Many reactions appeared after that incident, minimum government concern about dike caring becomes topic for Indonesian society at that moment. The result showed that news of broken down Situ Gintung dike at Kompas daily newspaper appears on inside pages (not headline). The informant that often appears in both of daily newspaper was combination between victims and government. News type that used in Kompas was straight news. Coverage type used in Kompas was two sides, while in Jawa Pos was one side. News orientation in Kompas were combination between psychologist and sociologist. Fact collection technique used in Kompas was interview. Combination analysis unit of news characteristic in Kompas was argumentative and descriptive. New dimension in Kompas daily newspaper was combination between social and politic.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the idea that humans are social creatures or people who can not live alone and will always be in touch with others in the surrounding environment. Humans can interact with one another to communicate with one another, or maybe by giving signs that can be understood by normal humans. However, is not the case with some people who have special needs, including in children with autism, because children with autism just busy with himself. Based on this background, the formulation of problems that researchers took is’’how interpersonal communication patterns children with autism in social interactions with the environment?’’ The method used in analyzing patterns of interpersonal communication in autistic children’s social interaction with the environment in the Autism School Fajar Nugraha Yogyakarta is a descriptive exploratory qualitative method, in which researchers tried to dig deeper when doing research. Based on these results, can be explained that the pattern of interpersonal communication in autistic children communicate and interact with the environment is way wrong if there is not the first approach to the child if the child is not a good mood, and if there is no eye contact with the children. Communication patterns can occur in both directions if there is al- ready the first approach to the child if the child is a good mood, and if there is eye contact with children. Communication process is always spontaneous, because autistic children can not concentrate for long periods of time. The children with autism to communicate with verbal and non verbal language. Non-verbal language such as screams, eye hand movements, and gestures. Children with autism are more likely to use non-verbal language of children with autism because they are children who have the disorder and difficulty in communicating orally.

Abstract

There are still provisions that potentially inhibit the right of people to obtain information in UU KIP. First, the article mention about the applicant’s information must be citizens or Indonesian legal entity. This will lead to discrimination, including information on where foreigners can no foreign journalists access to information from public agencies in Indonesia. In addition to conflict with international standards on the rights of public information, this provision makes us shut out of global information flow. Second, the applicant must include information on the reasons. We worry about this provision is used as an excuse not to give public officials the information requested by the community if the reason it was considered not appropriate officials / public body. Third, the existence of sanctions for deliberate use of information against the law. “Conditions that are not directly punish the users of information. But it may cause fear of public access to information. This is counterproductive to the goal itself of UU KIP. The presence of UU KIP is the beginning of a long struggle to realize the rights of society.

Abstract

Interpersonal Communication has a significant role on the level of juvenile delinquency. This is reflected by studies that showing interpersonal communication can improve, giving motivation between students. The method adapted in this study with a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects is Colombo Yogyakarta high school students were 12 students from the total population of 88. Determination of informants is based on consideration the wealth of information. Everett M Rogers approach is used as a bookmark in communications where the idea is transferred from one source to another source with the intent to change behavior. In this research, Newcom ABX model adapted to describe aspects of the emergence of juvenile delinquency. While Osgood-Schramm circular model is able to explain the results of this study that the feedback does not occur dynamically. The objectives in these research are not effective on interpersonal communication. It arises from the students that are lazy, introvert character, ansupported parents, as well as differences in arguments between students, teachers and parents.

Abstract

Today, Kulon Progo Regency still face the pro and con problems regarding iron sand mining. The government of Kulon Progo Regency is required to be able to build communication with all parties in solving the problems. This research is aimed at identifying the implementation of public relations role of the government of Kulon Progo Regency in facing iron sand mining case problems in Kulon Progo Regency as well as obstacles faced by the government of Kulon Progo Regency in enacting the role of public relations in dealing with the problems. This research employs qualitative descriptive analysis. The activity of qualitative descriptive analysis is done by processing the data obtained through interview, observation and documentation technique. Based on research results, it is concluded that although Public relations have done its role in the plan socialization of iron sand mining in Kulon Progo Regency, but the false perception held by the society about mining process has not changed yet, it means that the Power Control Theory which is conducted by the Public Relations Of Kulon Progo Local Government is not maximum yet. The obstacles faced by the Public Relations Of Kulon Progo Local Government in dealing with iron sand mining problems in Kulon Progo are first, internal obstacles in the function of public relations which has the position as the dominant coalition in relation to its authority in entering social responsibility, public understanding or two-way communication is not maximum yet, second, a false perception held by the people of southern sea shore upon the process of mining process.

Abstract

This study aim to analysis relationship of self-control and anxiety of interpersonal communication in a tourist guide. Product moment corelation analysis (rxy) yields for 0905, to prove the relationship between self-control and interpersonal communication anxiety in a tourist guide. These results indicate a negative relationship between the variables X (Self Control) and variable Y (Interpersonal Communication Anxiety in the guides). Social Learning Theory became a theories used in this study, where most of the individual behavior acquired partly the result of learning through observation of behavior displayed other individuals whose became the model. Elaboration Likelihood Theory which states that each individual will interpret the message or information they receive, in accordance with the information they have and their beliefs about something related to the message. Self-control on the tour guides in Yogyakarta based on the five major aspects of self-control, that has a very high level of measurement. Includes the ability to anticipate events, the ability to interpret events and the ability to take decisions. Meanwhile, two other aspects of self control shows the results of measurements at very low category, which consists of aspects of behavior and stimulus control. While anxiety based on the three aspects of interpersonal communication, which consists of inhibition of the ability to express themselves, lack of interest in communicating and social interaction is interrupted, it indicates the level measurement at very low category. Thus, interpersonal communication anxiety on tour guides in Yogyakarta can be said to be very low.
