Abstract

The study aims to (1) produce a integrative thematic learning module with PBL model which is viable, and (2) determine the effectiveness of the module towards the independent learning and learning outcomes of year five students of SD Negeri Pudjokusuman 1 Yogyakarta. This research was research and development. The subjects were teachers and students of year five students of SD Negeri Pudjokusuman Yogyakarta. Data analysis technique used paired sample t-test  and independent sample t-test with significance level of 0.05. The results of this study are (1) an appropriate integrative thematic learning module with problem based learning model. The proof of feasibility of the product is based on the test results of matter experts, the media experts test, the response of the teachers, and the response of the students. (2) The result shows that the developed module is effective to improve student’s independent learning and learning outcomes. It is based on the results obtained in the field trials showing p 0.05 in cognitive learning outcomes and independent learning. Futhermore, based on the observation results student’s in affective and psychomotor learning outcomes of the students in experimental class have a higher percentage than of the control class.

Abstract

This research aimed (1) to produce a suitable illustrated story book in improving the students' reading skill and learning motivation, and 2) to know the effectiveness of the illustrated story book media for the beginning reading skills and learning motivation of the first grade students of SD Negeri Timbulharjo Sewon Bantul. The research method used was research and development (RD) which referred to the 10 steps developed by Borg and Gall (1983) and the determination of the number of subjects refers to the opinion of Dick and Carey (2005). The subjects of the try out were the first grade students of SD Negeri Timbulharjo 1 Sewon Bantul. The data were collected by using interview, observation, scale, performance test and worksheet. The techniques of analyzing data employed on this research were need analysis, the feasibility study media, and analysis of effectiveness of media. Normality test used using Shapiro-Wilk because data less than 50. The result of the research was (1) a set of illustrated story book media that fulfilled the feasibility based on validation by a material expert and a media expert, and teachers’ and students’ response which was in very good category; (2) the developed illustrated books media were effective to improve the beginning reading skills and students’ learning motivation. Beginning reading skills and students’ learning motivation increased significantly based on paired t-test with probability score (p) 0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) produce thematic integrative learning modules based on sociocultural background feasible to increase student’s learning motivation and critical thinking, and (2) determine the effectiveness of the integrative thematic learning module. This research was included in the type of research and development (R D). Development procedures in this study adapting development procedures developed by Borg and Gall with steps, namely: (1) a preliminary study, (2) planning, (3) the design of the product, (3) field trials beginning, (5) the revision of the results of the initial field trials, (6) the main field trials, (7) the revision of the main results of field trials, (8) operational field trials, (9) the improvement of the final product. The subjects of the trial are fourth-grade students Jejeran, Bantul. The results show that (1) the integrative thematic learning module based on sociocultural background feasible according to media experts and subject matter experts with category ratings "very good". (2) The integrative thematic learning modules based on the sociocultural background is effective to improve student’s learning motivation and critical thinking. It is based on the results obtained by operational field trials p 0.05, which means that there are significant differences on motivation to learn and critical thinking of students who take the learning of the module and who do not use the learning module.

Abstract

This research aimeds to find out (1) the effect of interactive multimedia on the learning interest, (2) the effect of interactive multimedia on the learning achievement, (3) the different effect of interactive multimedia and image media on the learning interest and learning achievement of grade IV students of elementary schools in Wonosari Gunungkidul. This research was a quasi experimental. The design which was used was pretest-postest control group design with two experimental groups taught by using interactive multimedia and one control group using the image media. The data analysis used the paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of the research showed that: (1) there was an effect of interactive multimedia on the learning interest at the significance level of 0.000 0.05, (2) there was an effect of interactive multimedia on the learning achievement at the significance level of 0.000 0.05, and (3) the big different effect of interactive multimedia and image media on the learning interest and learning achievement was the learning interest with the gained score 10.412 for the experimental class 1 and 13.004 the experimental class 2, and the learning achievement with the gained score 8.703 the experimental class 1 and 6.810 the experimental class 2.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) describe emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, altruism, and teachers’ performance who teach in inclusion elementary schools of Karanganyar District, and (2) determine the effect of emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and altruism on teachers competence who teach in inclusion elementary school of Karanganyar District. The research was quantitative research using the ex-post facto method. The results of the study show that: (1) teacher’s emotional intelligence is at the medium category, while self-efficacy, altruism, and teachers competence who teach in inclusion elementary school of Karanganyar District are in high category; (2) there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence with the teacher’s competence, with a value of r = 0.560 (r 0,244 ),  there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy with teacher’s competence with a value of r =0.535 ( r 0.244), there is a significant relationship between altruism with the teacher’s competence, with a value of r = 0.711 (r 0.244 ) and there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and altruism with the teacher’s competence, with a value of F = 39.742 (F 2.76). Therefore, it concluded that higher emotional intelligence, and altruism the higher the teacher’s competence.

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal: (1) the effect of PBL on the achievement motivation; (2) the effect of PjBL on the achievement motivation; and (3) differences of achievement motivation between the group taught using PBL and the group taught using PjBL. This study was a quasi experiment with the nonequivalent commparison group design. The population was grade V students of SD Negeri Lempuyangwangi in academic year 2016/2017. The data analysis used t-test and Univariate Analysis of Variance at the significant levelof 5%. The result are as follows: (1) PBL improved positively and significantly on theachievement motivation; (2) PjBL improved positively and significantly on theachievement motivation; and (3) there is a significant difference on theachievement motivation between the group taught using PBL and that taught using PjBL.

Abstract

This study aims to examine: (1) the relationship between parenting style with moral values, (2) the relationship between habits of watching educational television with moral values, and (3) the relationship between parenting style and habits of watching educational television with moral values among the fifth grade elementary school group of Puren Condongcatur Depok Sleman. This research is a nonexperimental quantitative. The research sample is 149 students of the fifth grade elementary school group of Puren Condongcatur Depok Sleman. The results showed: (1) There is a positive and significant relationship between parenting style with moral values indicated by r 0.812 rtable 0.159 and p 0.05. (2) There is a positive and significant relationship between habits of watching educational television with moral values indicated by r 0.731 rtable 0.159 and p 0.05. (3) There is a positive and significant relationship between parenting style and habits of watching educational television with moral values indicated by r 0.841 rtable 0.159 and F 176.828 Ftable 3.06.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out (1) the differences of the use of video and random cards with pictures and worksheets on the skill of writing experience-story of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Panggang; (2) the effectiveness of the use of video and random cards compared to the pictures and worksheets on the skill of writing experience-story of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Panggang.The research approach is quantitative and the method is quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest. Based on the results of the calculation of the t-test, the score of posttest on the experimental group and the control group is 2.193 with df=38 obtained p=0.035 which are less than 5% (p 0.05). The t-test results showed that there was the difference between the skills of writing experience-story from the experimental group that uses video and random cards with pictures and worksheets. Gain score showed the differences in the level of per cent (t = 2.895; P 0.05) (t = 2.895; 0.006 0.05). The results showed that video has more effective effects than random cards with pictures and worksheets on improving the skills of writing experience story of fifth-grade students of SD Negeri Panggang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher and student perspectives on educational fairy tales as instructional learning materials. The research was involved 20 teachers and 400 students of forth grade  of elementary school in Yogyakarta Province. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. Researcher used descriptive statistical data analysis techniques. This technique was used to describe the perception of teachers and students about the benefits of educational tales in  percentage calculation. The results show that teachers and students have a high positive perspective on the presence of educational fairy tales as learning support teaching materials. It was known  the teacher perspective a percentage of 91.50% and 98.00% students in terms of attractiveness of educational fairy tales. While on the aspect of the utilization of educational fairytale books as teaching materials, teachers and students provide a percentage of 92.50% and 93.00%. In its usefulness for build character value, the teacher gives the percentage of 97,75% and the student equal to 86.00% with the category of very good, then on the utilization aspect of educational fairy tale to the development of cognitive ability of the child, the teacher gives the percentage of 92.00% and for the student is 88.75% that mean very good category. This means that teachers and students, both have a high perspective that a fairy tale containing educational elements can generate a sense of interest, usefulness in learning, can be a medium of character values in children and can stimulate the development of cognitive abilities of children.

Abstract

The student learning process must be accompanied by a diligent, disciplined and obedient attitude in order the learning process runs optimally. The learning time management becomes one of the problems that will impact students. The effect of the problem of time management is the phenomenon of the students’ tendency to delay in completing the tasks. The performance of students who delay in completing the tasks cannot maximize the student academic achievement. Academic procrastination is a situation where the students do not want to try to complete a task within the time limitation as scheduled. The particular study described the various efforts made by teachers to reduce the student academic procrastination. The research type was descriptive research using descriptive qualitative approaches and case study methods. The subjects were fifth-grade teachers who had efforts to solve the academic procrastination. Data collection techniques were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique used interactive analysis which consisted of three components, namely (1) Data reduction, (2) Data display, and (3) Verification. The findings showed that the efforts made by the teacher to reduce the student academic procrastination are through daily activities, diaries, motivations, achievement tables and good communication between teachers and parents.
