Abstract

This research aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem solving learning to increase student’s evaluative thinking ability on acid-base subject matter. The method of the research was quasi-experimental with Non Equivalent Control Group Design.  The population of this research were students in XI science class of SMA Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung in odd semester of academic year 2013-2014.  Technique sampling was purposive sampling technique and obtained XI 1 and XI 2 of science class as the samples.  The result showed that the average n-Gain value of student’s evaluative thinking ability for control class  and experiment class were 0,22 and 0,53 respectively.  Based on the hypothesis testing, it was concluded that  problem solving learning was effective to increase student’s evaluative thinking ability on acid-base subject matter . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pembelajaran problem solving dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir evaluatif siswa pada materi asam-basa.  Metode penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan Non equivalent Control Group Design.  Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung semester genap Tahun ajaran 2013-2014.  Teknik Pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan adalah teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 2 sebagai sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai n-Gain  kemampuan berpikir evaluatif  untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,22 dan 0,53.  Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran problem solving efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir evaluatif siswa pada materi asam-basa. Kata kunci:  asam-basa, kemampuan berpikir evaluatif, pembelajaran problemsolving.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to describe the effectiveness of scientific approach on electrolyte non-electrolyte topic to increase analyzing arguments skills. The population of this research was students of the 10th grade at SMAN 5 Bandar Lampung. The sample in this research were the 1st and 2nd of the 10th grade where they was taken by purposive sampling technique. The method of the research was quasi experiment with Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The results showed that the average n-Gain of analyzing arguments skills on control and experiment class were 0.35 and 0.68 respectively. Because of the effectiveness shown by the significant differences of the n-Gain of control and experiment class statistically, it was said that scientific approach effective to increase students' analyzing arguments skills on electrolyte non-electrolyte topic.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas pendekatan saintifik pada materi elektrolit non-elektrolit dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menganalisis argumen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X1 dan X2 yang diperoleh dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pada penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata n-Gain keterampilan menganalisis argumen pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,35 dan 0,68. Karena efektivitas ditunjukkan oleh perbedaan n-Gain yang signifikan pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen secara statistik, maka dapat dikatakan bahwa pendekatan saintifik efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menganalisis argumen pada materi larutan elektrolit non-elektrolit.Kata kunci: elektrolit non-elektrolit, keterampilan menganalisis argumen, pendekatan saintifik

Abstract

Based on observation and interview with chemistry subject teacher in Grade X of State Senior High School 01 Simpang Pematang in Mesuji, the results showed that the average marks of Grade X students’ concept mastery on hydrocarbon material in academic year 2009-2010 was 50.35. The minimum accomplishment criteria established by the school for chemistry was that 100% of students should get more than 62 and only 45% of them got more than 62. The observation results showed that learning process was still dominated by teachers, while students were passive and on taskactivities were low. An effort to overcome this problem was by implementing empirical-inductive learning cycle model in giving hydrocarbon material.The objective of this research was to describe implementations of empirical-inductive learning cycle model to improve: (1) percentage average of on task students’ activities; (2) average of concept masteries; and (3) students’ learning accomplishment. This was a classroom action research which was conducted in three cycles. This research used quantitative data in forms of students’ on task activities, concept masteries, and students’ learning accomplishment.The results showed improvement from cycle 1 to cycle 2 and from cycle 2 to cycle 3 which included: (1) percentage average of each student’s on task activity including asking class mates (6.94% and 12.511% respectively), asking teachers (6.95% and 12.50% respectively), giving opinions (9.72% and 11.11% respectively, answering question (9.72% and 9.73% respectively); (2) concept mastery (8.81% and 7.83% respectively); and (3) student’s learning accomplishment (13.89% and 36.11% respectively ) Therefore, all established performance indicators were achieved.Keywords: empirical-inductive learning cycle, concept mastery, learning accomplishment, on task  activity.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop the students worksheet of matter particles based on chemistry representations for students in junior high school, to describe the characteristics of the developed students worksheet, to describe teachers’ responses and students’ responses of the developed students worksheet and to know the obstacles encountered in developing the students worksheet.  This research used Research and Development method.  The results showed that teachers’ responses of the developed students worksheet in the content’s suitability aspect were 94,54%, in the attraction aspect were 95% and in the readable aspect were 96%.  All of the teachers’ responses were very high category.  The result showed that students’ responses of the developed students worksheet in the attraction aspect were 85,21% and in the readable aspect were 88%.  All of the students’responses were very high category.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan lembar kerja siswa partikel materi berbasis representasi kimia untuk siswa pada tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama, mendeskripsikan karakteristik LKS yang dikembangkan, mendeskripsikan tanggapan guru dan tanggapan siswa terhadap LKS yang telah dikembangkan dan mengetahui kendala-kendala yang ditemui saat mengembangkan LKS.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanggapan guru terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan pada aspek kesesuaian isi sebesar 94,54%, pada aspek kemenarikan sebesar 95% dan pada aspek keterbacaan sebesar 96%.  Tanggapan dari guru tersebut semuanya termasuk ke dalam kategori sangat tinggi.  Sedangkan tanggapan siswa terhadap LKS yang dikembangkan pada aspek kemenarikan sebesar 85,21% dan pada aspek keterbacaan sebesar 88%.  Tanggapan dari siswa tersebut semuanya termasuk ke dalam kategori sangat tinggi.Kata kunci: lembar kerja siswa, partikel materi, representasi kimia.

Abstract

This study purpose to describe critical thinking skill of the eleven science  students in senior high school of international school preparation programs (RSBI) on chemical equilibrium leason.  This study is qualitative study to the type of phenomenological study.  This study is used essaies test, questionnaires, dan interviews manual.  Subjects of this study are 32 students in class XI science 1 of  Senior High School State 1 Kotagajah, 25 students in class XI science 6 of  Senior High School State 1 Metro and 30 students in class XI science 5 of  Senior High School State 9 Bandar Lampung.The result of this study show that four idicators of critical thinking that are answer question “Why”, judging the credibility of procedures, interpretation of statements, and making conclusion base on facts get average-value in a row 66,89; 68,26; 68,25 and 72,22 that all of it are in good criteria and thenindicator of making conclusion base on facts get the highest average-value.  Students in high category, medium category and low category get average-value in a row 75,14; 69,77 and 62,47 all of it are in good criteria and then students in high category have critical thinking skill better than the other category. Critical thinking abilities rate of the eleven science  students in senior high school of international school preparation programs (RSBI)  are in good criteria. Keyword: Critical Thinking Skill, Chemical Equilibrium, International School Preparation Programs (RSBI)

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an effective instructional model increase interest  and concept’s mastery of XI science in acid-base. The population are the class of XI Science SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung with XI IPA 2 as experiment class and XI 3 as control. This research method is a quasi-experimental pretest posttest control group design. The research’s results showed the average value of the index gain interest in the control and experimental classes respectively 0,65 and 0,75; and the mean index gain mastery of concepts for the control and experimental classes respectively 0,35 and 0,49. Based on hypothesis testing, it was concluded that learning through the class with LC 5E has an interest and mastery of concepts that is higher than learning conventional class. This suggests that the learning material through  LC 5E  is more effective in increasing students' interest and mastery of concepts.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh model pembelajaran yang afektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan penguasaan konsep asam-basa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah selurush siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung dengan kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 3 kelas control. Metode penelitan ni adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan non equivalent control group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rerata indeks gain motivasi untuk kelas control dan eksperimen masing-masing 0,65 dan 0,75; dan rerata indeks gain penguasaan konsep untuk kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing  0,35 dan 0,49. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan LC 5E lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran kon-vensional. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan LC 5E lebih efektif dalam me-ningkatkan motivasi dan penguasaaan konsep siswa.Kata kunci: learning cycle 5E, motivasi, penguasaan konsep.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe effectiveness of ADI learning model to improve students critical thinking skills based on academic ability on additive and addictive topic.  This research used quasi experiment method with Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design.  Samples was selected by purposive sampling, obtained by class VIII G as experiment class and VIII B as control class.Instruments used were students worksheets based on ADI learning model, pretest and postets.  Data analysis techniques used were ankova test and t-test.  Result of research showed that value of n-gain critical thinking skills were using ADI learning model are higher than using the conventional learning.  The conclusion in this research are ADI learning model was effective to improve the critical thingking skills students based oacademic ability on additive and addictive topic. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektifitas model pembelajaran ADI dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa berdasarkan kemampuan akademik pada materi zat aditif dan adiktif.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi Eksperiment dengan Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design.  Sampel dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling, diperoleh kelas VIII G sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII B sebagai kelas kontrol.  Instrument yang digunakan adalah LKPD dengan model ADI, soal pretes dan postes.  Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Ankova dan uji-t.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai n-gainketerampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran ADI lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional.  Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah  pembelajaran model ADI efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa berdasarkan kemampuan akademik pada materi zat aditif dan adiktif.Kata kunci: kemampuan akademik, keterampilan berpikir kritis, model pembelajaran ADI.

Abstract

The poor-experimental research was conducted by using one group pretest-posttes design which it was aimed to describe the practicality, effectiveness, and effect size of discovery learning in electrolyte and non electrolyte solustion topic to improve metacognitive skill and concept mastery. The sampel of this research was class X.10 at SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung which it was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The data analysis included practicality, effectiveness, and effect size. The research result showed that the practicality and effectiveness of discovery learning had been very high criteria and big creteria of effect size to improve students metacognitive skill and concept mastery.Penelitian poor-experiment dengan one group pretest-posttes desaign bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepraktisan, keefektifan, dan ukuran pengaruh pembelajaran discovery learning pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit untuk meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan penguasaan konsep siswa. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X.10 di SMAN 16 Bandar Lampung yang diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Analisis data pada penelitian ini meliputi kepraktisan, keefektifan, dan ukuran pengaruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepraktisan dan keefektifan pembelajaran discovery learning berkriteria sangat tinggi dan memiliki ukuran pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan metakognisi dan penguasaan konsep siswa.Kata Kunci: discovery learning, kemampuan metakognisi, penguasaan konsep.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of discovery learning model to improve the skils of the  evaluative thinking and concept mastery of acid-base Arrhenius. The method used is quasi experimental with pretes-postes non-equivalen control grup design. The population of this research was all students grade XI in science class of SMA Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung. The samples were taken by cluster random sampling technique then obtained XI IPA4 as experimental class and XI IPA5 as control class. The effectiveness of discovery learning model was showed by the significant difference of n-Gain experiment classes and supported by difference effect size. The results showed that the average n-Gain in experiment classes respectively that medium criteria and supported by large’s effect size. Based on the result of this research, conclude that discovery learning model is effective to increase  evaluative thinking skills and concept mastery on acid-base Arrhenius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan model discovery learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir evaluatif dan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi asam basa Arrhenius. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest non-equivalen control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung. Sampel diambil dengan teknik cluster random  sampling sehingga diperoleh XI IPA4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA5 sebagai kelas kontrol. Efektivitas model discovery learning diukur berdasarkan perbedaan n-Gain yang signifikan pada kelas eksperimen yang di dukung oleh perbedaan ukuran pengaruh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata n-Gain pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,62 dengan kriteria sedang dan di dukung oleh ukuran pengaruh yang besar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menyimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran discovery learning efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir evaluatif dan penguasaan konsep asam-basa Arrhenius.Kata kunci: model discovery learning, asam basa Arrhenius, keterampilan berpikir evaluatif, dan penguasaan konsep

Abstract

AbstractThis research is aimed to describe students' collaborative skills of waste cooking oil recycling project-based learning. The method used is a weak experimental design with the one-shot case study. The population of this research was the students in grade XI MIA at one of the senior high school in Bandar Lampung. The research sample was students of class XI MIA 6, which was obtained by purposive sampling technique. The data in this research collected by non-test instruments in the form of an observation sheet. The results was contributing actively indicators 68.88% well categorized, working productively indicators is 74.95% categorized well, flexibilities and compromise indicators is 80.73% categorized very well, the indicators of improving the project is 78.88% categorized as good, the indicators of showing an attitude of respect is 89.18% very well categorized and the indicators showing responsibility is 90% very well categorized.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan berkolaborasi siswa pada pembelajaran berbasis proyek daur ulang minyak jelantah (PBPDUMJ). Metode penelitian yang digunakan weak eksperimental dengan desain the one-shot case study. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA di SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung. Sampel penelitiannya siswa kelas XI MIA 6, diperoleh dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan instrumen nontes berupa lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian indikator berkontribusi secara aktif sebesar 68,88% berkatagori baik, indikator bekerja secara produktif sebesar 74,95% berkatagori baik, indikator menunjukkan fleksibilitas dan kompromi sebesar 80,73% berkatagori sangat baik, indikator mengelola proyek dengan baik sebesar 78,88% berkatagori baik, indikator menunjukkan sikap menghargai sebesar 89.18% berkatagori sangat baik dan indikator menunjukkan tanggungjawab sebesar 90% berkatagori sangat baik.Kata kunci: keterampilan berkolaborasi, daur ulang minyak jelantah, pembelajaran berbasis proyek
