Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning by using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory in Mahmud Darwish's poem entitled " Asyiq min Falistin ". Barthes' theory consists of three systems of meaning, namely denotative meaning as the first order meaning, connotative meaning as the second order meaning, and the meaning of myth is the ideological operation of the meaning of connotation. The research methodology used is a descriptive qualitative methodology, this research examines objects in the form of poetry and examines them with Barthes theory and groups them to three systems of meaning. Using this methodology, an understanding of three semiotic systems of meaning is produced. In the meaning of denotation, we can see Mahmud Darwish's skill in choosing words that symbolize his longing, sadness and struggle for his motherland, Palestine. Then, from the connotation meaning, we can see more broadly how chaotic and full of suffering conditions were for the Palestinian people. So, the writer tried to fight even with many sacrifices. From the meaning of the myth, it can be seen from the perspective of how Palestine is defined as the "Holy Land".

Abstract

The arts, such as music, are one of the channels for the spread of Islam in the archipelago. In its development, human culture will continue to evolve, including music. From the time of Islamisation, through the colonial era to the modern era, religious music in Indonesia will undergo changes. This paper aims to explain the development of the genre and purpose of Islamic music in Indonesia. The research method used is the historical research method with its stages: 1) heuristics, research data sources are collected through literature studies; 2) source criticism, selecting the validity of research data sources; 3) interpretation with the cultural evolution theory approach; 4) historiography. The results showed that the development of classical Indonesian Islamic music was born according to the socio-cultural aspects of each region. In Java, Islamic music was born from the acculturation of Javanese culture and Islamic content. In Minangkabau, the Middle Eastern music culture (gambus & gamad) dominates instrumentally. However, the lyrical content remains on Islamic & Minangkabau themes. In later developments, Indonesian Islamic music began to be influenced by Western cultural genres and instruments. The changes are not only 'physical', but also in the purpose of contemporary Islamic music. Music that was once intended as a medium for da'wah and local Islamic cultural identity has slowly turned into 'market' oriented work or consumerism. Muslims who have become the majority have also had an influence in shifting music away from its original purpose of da'wah.

Abstract

Dulmuluk merupakan teater kesenian tradisional yang ada di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. Dulmuluk sendiri mulai dikenal sejak awal abad ke 20 sampai dengan sekarang. Pementasan teater Dulmuluk berbeda dengan pementasan teater-teater lain yang berasal dari daerah Jawa dan lainnya karena Dulmuluk memiliki Bermas atau salam penghormatan yang berupa nyanyian disertai gerak tari yang tidak ada di teater manapun. penggunakan metode penelitian etnografi yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk memahami kembali Teater Dulmuluk ini dari sudut pandang penduduk asli dimana tujuannya untuk menemukan generalisasi dan membuat rekontruksi masa lampau dengan cara mengumpulkan, mengevaluasi, memverifikasi serta mensitesiskan bukti-bukti guna memperoleh hasil yang kuat, dengan menggunakan metode penelitian ini dapat diketahui dengan jelas pembagian pembahasan dalam penelitian ini dimana meliputi, sejarah, proses pertunjukkannya, perkembangannya serta eksistensinya dari teater ini serta fungsinya dalam masyarakat yang ternyata memiliki banyak fungsi berdasarkan tipe-tipe fungsinya.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Culture is a habit of a society that is continuous and carried out from generation to generation. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has a rich culture that creates a multicultural society. This diversity is a highlight for researchers to examine the cultural sector in Indonesia. Thus were born various scientific works in the field of culture in Indonesia with different focuses. This study aims to determine the mapping of cultural research in Indonesia using VosViewer and the data taken is scientific papers from the journal Scopus. The results of this study show that the field of culture in Indonesia visualizes that there are two klasters that are interconnected with one another. With the many publications in 2020 and the topics that have the most scientific work on traditional topics.

Abstract

Ghatib Beghanyut merupakan tradisi keagamaan masyarakat Melayu Siak. Tradisi ini sudah berlangsung sejak zaman kesultanan Melayu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan tradisi tersebut serta menganalisis keterkaitan ritual dengan nilai-nilai keagamaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yakni dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi serta kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi tersebut bermula pada masa Sultan ke XII yakni Sultan Syarif Kasim II. Sejak awal tradisi tersebut mengikuti pedoman islam yakni dengan berlandaskan Al-quran. Seperti kata pepatah yakni Adat bersendikan Syara’, Syara’ bersendikan Kitabullah. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini ialah ghatib beghanyut atau yang biasa dikenal dengan tradisi tolak bala merupakan sebuah budaya yang diciptakaan oleh sekelompok masyarakat dengan tujuan memohon perlindungan pada Yang Maha Kuasa.
