Abstract

Individual self-concept is manifested in things that is related to that individual. Views about one’s self, self-evaluation, and expectation to one’s self formed the individual self-concept. Awareness of self-concept from the view of psychology would help a good and positive self-concept. This positive self-concept would in turn develop positive behaviours and interactions in daily life. This article discuss the concept of self-concept from psychological literatures and perspective. Dimensions, aspects, and factors of self-concept would be discussed and related to children’s situation in late childhood stage. Parents, teachers, and also the surrounding environment have important role in shaping self-concept of children. Social support and positive behavior model from the children’s closest persons and also the community will help in creating positive self-concept that in turn will support the transition to teenager phase. This article hopefully will be able to stimulate researcher to conduct further relevant research concerning children’s self-concept.

Abstract

This research is a Media Development Blog as a Means of information to enhance the planning careers in SMAN 1 Bulukumba that berujuan: (1) to describe the career guidance needs of students at SMA Negeri 1 Bulukumba); (2) to determine the profile of media use blogs as a means of information in improving the ability of career planning at SMA Negeri 1 Bulukumba); (3) to determine the effectiveness of blogs as a means of information media in enhancing the ability of career planning at SMA Negeri 1 Bulukumba. This study uses research and development developed by Dick & Carey. Analysis of data using statistical analyzes non-parametric Wilcoxon signed ranks test. The results showed (1) Career Guidance blog has utility value, feasibility and accuracy; (2) blog career guidance both as a means of career information for students at SMA Negeri 1 Bulukumba; (3) blog Career guidance is effective as a means of information in improving the ability of career planning at SMA Negeri 1 Bulukumba.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an application program sociometry connected to a computer which included a media component to analyze sociometry data and instruments at high school students, which can be directly used for a tutor by filling out an application and able to know the students' social relationships. The research used development model, with procedural which had been modified by the researcher. The subjects of this study is divided into subject experts, namely the subject of the instrument experts, IT and tutor as well as the subject of the trial, namely 6 students, 3 students in grades 2 and 3 others in grade 3, and overall supervising teachers at SMAN 9 Makassar. Withdrawal of study subjects using stratified random sampling technique. Data was collected through interviews, feasibility studies, questionnaire and documentation. Results of development research completed with two stages of the test, the experts test, as well as two stages of the revision, including revision based on expert testing and revisions based on testing small groups. Based on the feasibility study by expert test the general program, sociometry program as a disclosure of students’ social relations media gets 4.26% grading scale that is in the category feasible and based on a small group of test programs, sociometry at acceptance tests as much as 90% (very high) products declared acceptable and usable test as much as 90% (very high) products otherwise it can be used / implemented.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the discrepancy between the performance of counseling program of Junior High School in Malang with the determined standards. This study uses a standard of Guidelines for Performance Based Professional School Counselor Evaluation. In the standard it was found that, “the professional school counselor counsels individual students and small groups of students with identified needs/concerns”. This study is an evaluation research. Evaluations were performed in this study using a discrepancy model. The approach used is a system approach that is focused on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of counseling programs. Based on the analysis of the results of the evaluation, counseling programs in Junior Hight School in Malang is still far from standard. The results of this study recommend to counselors to improve the quality of the counseling program, so that it will give a positive impact on students.

Abstract

The study aims at (1) discovering the tendency of drugs abuse before and after counseling service based on character education is given to student at SMKN 5 Makassar, (2) examining whether there is influence of counseling services based on character education to prevent drugs abuse to student at SMKN 5 Makassar? The study employed quantitative approach with true experiment. The research design was pretest-posttest control group design. The population of the study was 110 students and the samples were 60 students which chosen by employing purposive sampling technique. The result of the study revealed that (1) the pretest result of tendency of drugs abuse of students before counseling services based on character education was given, both for the experiment group and the control group in general were in high category. After the treatment was given, the result of posttest to the experiment group is in low category, whereas the control group which did not receive the treatment based on character education but received the treatment from counselor in school is in high category, (2) there are significant differences between students who received counseling services based on character education from the ones who received counseling services by the school’s counselor to prevent drugs abuse of students at SMKN 5 Makassar

Abstract

This study is a research and development that examine the development of Ice Breaking as BK media to improve the social skills of students. The research objective is (1) To develop ice breaking video media as media that is acceptable BK (accepted), to improve the social skills of students. (2) To determine the effectiveness of video media as media BK ice breaking in improving students' social skills. Results of the research is a guide Ice Breaking and Video. The results showed that the development of the ice breaking video guide acceptabe (received), based on usefulness (utility), accuracy (accuracy), feasibility (faesibility) and relevance in improving the social skills of the students got decent results for use in SMA Negeri 1 Bontonompo. (2) Free video Ice breaking is very effective in improving the social skills of students in SMA Negeri 1 Bontonompo Gowa.

Abstract

Pre-Experimental research was conducted in SMK Negeri 3 Makassar with a total of 10 people of class XI electricity as the subjects research. Problem in this study was students in class XI Electricity experiencing a low independence of learning.This study aims to: (1) Determine the description of the independence of student learning before the Implementation of Reality Group Counseling in SMK Negeri 3 Makassar (2) Be able to know illustration of  students’ learning  independence after Application of Reality Group Counseling in SMK Negeri 3 Makassar (3) Find out if there is a positive impact on Reality Group Counselling application to increase the independence of student learning in SMK Negeri 3 Makassar. Experimental subjects were given a pretest to determine the atmosphere of students’ learning independence before given reality counseling. At the end of the study, students were given a posttest to determine the effect of applying the reality group counseling in improving learning independence. Collecting data using questionnaires and observation. Analyzed using percentages and inferential statistical analysis, the t-test. The results showed that: (1) Independence learnt students at SMK Negeri 3 Makassar before the given technique Reality Group Counseling were in middle category, while the degree of independence for students at SMK Negeri 3 Makassar after given Reality Group Counseling technique has increased or at high category, (2) There were differences in the level of independent learning in SMK Negeri 3 Makassar before and after given the reality of group counseling techniques.

Abstract

This study aims: (1) To develop career information service model based on electronic media (e-career) which acceptable in improving students’ career decision at SMAN 3 Makassar. (2) To know the effectivity of career information service model based on electronic media (e-career) in improving students’ career decision at SMAN 3 Makassar. The study was a research and development which referred to the research stages by Borg and Gall. The research data were collected by employing interviews, questionnaires, and scales of measurement, as well as the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques. The results of the study revealed that (1) the development of the acceptable electronic-based media (e-career) of career information services model in improving students’ career decisions obtained high rating scale from the experts and a very good response from the counseling teachers and students, where it was acceptable and feasible to be used in SMAN 3 Makassar; (2) The application of electronic-based media (e-career) of career information services model was effective in improving students career decision at SMAN 3 Makassar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) description of the demand level of reduction model of academic procrastination attitude on high school students in Makassar. (2) Description of a hypothetical model of academic procrastination attitude alleviation based on cognitive behavior therapy. (3) Description of the academic procrastination attitude alleviation model, based on cognitive behavior therapy which had developed. This study used the approach and development of research as well as qualitative and quantitative methods. The study population was high school in the city of Makassar with a sample of 12 schools. The results showed: (1) the demands’ level of academic procrastination attitude reduction model of high school students in Makassar at the high category; (2) the hypothetical model is the beginning of the preparation of academic procrastination attitude alleviation models. The model was developed based on the need assessment. The model consists of several components such as rational, objectives, scope, target population, the basic assumptions, the working principle, system support services, the role of counselor, procedure implementation, evaluation model, and the model guidelines; (3) the developed models are models that have gone through the stage of model validation both by BK experts and practitioners in schools so that the model has been tested in  content and descriptively. Therefore, the developed model generated in this study is a model that is ready to be used in schools to help students in eliminating academic procrastination habit.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is the development of student character and know the effectiveness of the content mastery service with the technique of modeling. The experimental method. The population of the research is the students of BK semester V amounted to 212 students. The pre-test recapitulation obtained a total score of 2205 with an average of 105. The total score is classified into low character category with the percentage of 14.3%. From the empirical data above, the researcher wants to make the low student character become moderate, which is being able to increase to high and high become very high. So the steps taken is to provide mastery of the content through modeling techniques to develop student character BK. Post-test results after given content mastery service to develop the character, obtained data that 76% of students are in very high category and 24% high. While the scores obtained medium and low characters are absent or 0%. The content mastery service model with developed modeling techniques can be effective by providing examples and models for students who are intensive and ongoing.
