Abstract

Every ecosystem has a different level of susceptibility to environmental disturbances it receives, both from natural factors or anthropogenic disturbance. National Park (NP) Baluran is one national park that has a representation of a complete ecosystem that includes upland forest ecosystems, lowland forests, coastal forests, mangroves, savanna and evergreen forest. The objective of this study is to get a formula calculation of vulnerability analysis of constant and dynamic factors. Baluran NP vulnerability assessment to climate change done by looking at the dynamic and fixed factors. Vulnerability remains a vulnerability factor to the condition of the original (control), whereas vulnerability is the vulnerability of the dynamic change factors which affected the condition from the outside. Constant Vulnerability (CV) in  Baluran NP dominated resistant conditions (61%), meaning that the geomorphology and other fixed factors (slope and slope direction/aspect, then the condition in Baluran NP sufficiently resilient to climate change. Dynamic Vulnerability (DV) is the vulnerability of an area or areas that change because of pressure from external factors. DV is influenced by climatic factors (WI = Wetness Index), soil (SBI = Soil Brightness Index), and vegetation (GI = Greenness Index). DV in  Baluran NP from 1999 to 2010 shifted from the original category of being (84.76%) and shifted to the susceptible (59.88%).  The role of remote sensing for the analysis of raster digital system, while the geographic information system to display the results of cartographic maps.

Abstract

The aim of this research are : (1) identity the process of land degradation happened in the study area; (2) evaluation of agriculture land productivity with land degradation process in the study area; (3) analysis impact process of land degradation to agriculture land productivity in the study area. This research using survey method and spatial analysis by application of Geographical Information Sistem (GIS).According to data analysis, obtained by the following research result are: (1). Have been happened by process of land degradation in regional part of the study area which tend to degrade quality of land resources by type natural process influence (subsidence, slide, crack) and anthropogenic process (making of brick). Subsidence happened in Gantiwarno; crack in Gantiwarno and Bayat; slide in Bayat. Making o brick a lot of happened in Jogonalan, Ngawen, Jatinom, Karanganom and Ceper; (2). Region with compatibility ?harmony? in the study area take of area for the width of 28930,10 Ha or 44,13 % (regional half almost Klaten District of productivity of its rice crop as according to its land suitability); ?harmony (-)? taking of area for the width of 2973,15 Ha or4,53 % (there are partial; a little region in Klaten District which manifestly do not good for effort to agriculture of rice crop, specially the paddy); ?not harmony (+)? taking of area for the which of 7929,25 Ha or 12,10 % (there are some region in Klaten District bad its of land condition, but its productivity is goodness); ?not harmony? taking of area for the which of 25724,10 Ha or 39,24 % (there are region with big enough area in Klaten District which to make a effort of agriculture of its rice crop not yet been done in an optimal fashion). Region with compatibility ?not harmony? need deeper attention of its land management; (3). Land degradation of most be happened to regions with compatibility status ?not harmony?. Although is not be absolute in character, but this matter represent and existence indication of s possibility of influence of land degradation to lowering mount land productivity to rice crop in the study area. Land degradation at region of have compatibility status  ?harmony? as in Gantiwarno (in this time) reality not yet affect its influence to level of land productivity for the rice crop.

Abstract

The Northern Suburbs of Bandung City are the areas affected by the expansion of Bandung City. In fact, one of the impacts of the expansion is the increase in land prices on the Northern Suburbs of Bandung. This present study aims at mapping the land prices and finding out factors affecting the land prices on the Northern Suburbs of Bandung. The method used in this study was a descriptive approach by explaining the results of the field analysis. The data were collected by interviewing 120 respondents accidentally in all villages bordering Bandung City. The data were analyzed using percentage analysis and spatial modelling. The results showed that the most expensive land price in 2019 could be found in Cimenyan District, specifically located in Ciburial Village at the price of Rp. 3,437,000 per square meters, in Lembang District, particularly in Lembang Village at the price of Rp. 5,000,000 per square meters, and in Parongpong District, particularly in Ciwaruga Village at the price of Rp. 4,312,500 per square meter. The increased land prices in the Northern Suburbs of Bandung City is caused by the ease of accessibility, the establishment of many luxury settlements, and tourism sites.

Abstract

Kendari is the capital of the Indonesian province of Southeast Sulawesi. It is located on mainly the karst hills region with high rainfall and there were numerous human activities on the karst hills. Many landslides have occurred in these areas. Natural and human factors may contribute to the landslide. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the present GIS map of landslide-prone areas was in agreement or compatible when compared to the actual site conditions in Kendari City. This research is mainly a regional survey. Data was collected through direct interview and observation at the sites. Data were analyzed quantitatively with percentages. The results showed that 87.4% of the area in Kendari City as shown in the map of landslide-prone distribution using GIS was included in the low risk or slightly vulnerable category. The category of landslide-prone areas was divided into; Very low risk, Low, Medium, High risk and Very high risk which represents the less vulnerable areas to the very vulnerable areas. The level of compatibility of landslide-prone maps in Kendari City, when compared with actual site conditions, reaches 75%. This shows that the map of the GIS spatial analysis can be used as a guide in mapping the level of landslide vulnerability in Kendari City. Landslide-prone map may be used as a guideline for engineers, designers, planners, and city officials in planning to reduce the risk of potential disaster.

Abstract

Central Sulawesi is the largest province on the Sulawesi island with a dominant sloping topographic condition and has a variety of soil types, flow density, land use and rainfall that makes this region vulnerable to flooding. Flooding is a hydrometeorological disaster that will adversely affect aspects of human life such as social and economic activities in an area because it can cause environmental damage, casualties and disrupt economic activity. Because of its enormous impact, the purpose of this research study is to find out areas in the province of Central Sulawesi that are suscept to flooding. The method used in this research study is scoring the classification of flood hazard parameters such as slope level, elevation, soil type, rainfall, land use and flow density which are then overlay using ArcGis 10.2.2. The results obtained that the province of Central Sulawesi has three categories of areas suscept to flooding with a low category 6630.3 km2, moderate 46081.9 km2 and high category 7104.7 km2. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that Central Sulawesi province has a dominant level of vulnerability which is moderate.

Abstract

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was firstly identified in Wuhan, China. By 23rd January 2020, China’s Government made a decision to execute lockdown policy in Wuhan due to the rapid transmission of COVID-19. It is essential to investigate the land surface temperature (LST) dynamics due to changes in level of anthropogenic activities. Therefore, this study aims (1) to investigate mean LST differences between during, i.e., December 2019 to early March 2020, and before the emergence of COVID-19 in Wuhan; (2) to conduct spatio-temporal analysis of mean LST with regards to lockdown policy; and (3) to examine mean LST differences for each land cover type. MODIS data consist of MOD11A2 and MCD12Q1 were employed. The results showed that during the emergence of COVID-19 with lockdown policy applied, the mean LST was lower than the mean LST of the past three years on the same dates. Whereas, during the emergence of COVID-19 without lockdown policy applied, the mean LST was relatively higher than the mean LST of the past three years. In addition, the mean LST of built-up areas experienced the most significant differences between during the emergence of COVID-19 with lockdown policy applied in comparison to the average of the past three years.

Abstract

Settlements in urban areas expand as the population grows and are influenced by growth centres. This research was designed to identify the quality of informal settlements along abandoned railwaytracks in the Majalaya District, an industrial centre in Bandung Regency, Jawa Barat Province, Indonesia. A quantitative method was employed, with proportional random sampling and the use of  both primary and secondary data. The primary data referred to the conditions of the slum areas, while the secondary data were images, Regional Spatial Planning (RTRW) documents and RTRW maps. The quantitative analysis employed scoring through slum settlement assessment indicators, while spatial analysis was supported by regional data. The results from the research show that although housing construction quality varies, most settlements are illegal and prone to flooding, fire, and contagious diseases. The research should be beneficial for the government in promoting and implementing slum eradication programmes in urban areas.

Abstract

The Bogowonto Hulu sub-watershed has high flooding potential, especially during the rainy season. This flooding causes physical, social, and economic losses for the local community and so the Bener Dam was built to reduce the volume of flooding in the area. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of the Bener Dam in overcoming the problem of flooding around the Bogowonto Hulu sub-watershed. The effectiveness of dams can be analysed by comparing the volume of the dam reservoir with the peak discharge amount generated. The value of peak discharge can be obtained using remote-sensing data and mathematical calculations following the rational method. Using this method, the estimated peak discharge value obtained for the watershed was 302.3 m3/s while the value of dam capacity was only 210 m3/s, giving 92.3 m3/s of flooding potential. It is necessary to reduce the potential for flooding by building an IR reservoir in the catchment area, so that rainwater is accommodated rather than being immediately depleted, and to reduce concentration time.

Abstract

The study aims is to define bathymetry based on General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) and Nautical Map using GIS technique. The methods used in this study are the kriging method which combines the spatial correlation among the data using GIS and Remote Sensing software. The result shows that bathymetry at research area can be divided into five classes, these are: (1) 0-2 meter with area of 1.797,61 hectare, (2) 2-5 meter with area of 2.059,06 hectare, (3) 5-10 meter with area of 1.184,02 hectare, (4) 10-25 meter with area of 3.025.00 hectare, (5) 25-200 meter with area of 5.648.62 hectare.The spatial pattern of bathymetry dispersed from the shallow water at the edge of beach and more deep at the offshore, except at the eastern side of Wangi-Wangi island which has barrier reef and created basin between them.

Abstract

The damage of coastal ecosystems are no longer dominated by human activity, but the condition of global climate change were also influenced. Climate change impact on the environment influencing the coastal management paradigm. This study emphasizes on how to develop a adaptation strategy of coastal zone management due to the impact of climate change through remote sensing approach, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and adaptation strategies analysis. Location of research conducted in the Region of Segoro Anakan Bay, District Ngadirojo Pacitan. The results showed the impact of climate change is affecting the area and production of seaweed culture in the form of tectonic conditions aggravated by silting waters. To combat the effects of climate change, the adaptation scenario is implemented to intensification and extensification of land use, alternative livelihoods, minawisata as a combination of all three.
