Abstract

Having reviewed what it became the sole significance in religious studies realm, it is more likely that the peaceful outcome serves as the most desirable intention. The peaceful basis for all seems promising in the midst of prolonged disputes that sometimes bor rowed its justification through religion and religiosity. In the context of Judaism, the article discusses Naturei Karta, one of  Jewish commu- nities, applying Ninian Smart’s philosophical-political dimensions in religious studies. There are two queries in this article, i.e. how does Naturei Karta com- munity develop the view on the concept of  Israel, the state and Jewish commu- nity and how is Naturei Karta entity seen from philosophical-political dimen- sion in religious studies? The study exemplifies that Naturei Karta, actually bear a potential alternative solution based on the inherent concept of  “any place and land in the world are for Jewish people”. The concept gives the alter native territorial implication toward the claim of  formal state of  Israel. It serves not only as a part of  solution on Israel-Palestine conflict, but also the issue of identity within various Jewish communities. Until recently, the notion of  peace among entities seems pivotal as the ultimate outcome of philosophical dimension found in various faiths and religions.

Abstract

This paper is divided into three sections. First, it gives a brief  introductory of the Jews. Second, it explains the process of  the creation of  human. Third, it elaborates the basis of  human behavior in the Jewish, like morality, suffering , and the ‘chosen people.’ In terms of  the creation of  human beings, Judaism states that human is made of the dust which is then fulfilled by the spirit through his nose. Human is created in God’s image. It is not only his soul, but also his body, represents the symbol of  God. The Hebrew Bible (Holy Book), in general, vastly embraces the doctrines of morality that should be used as the basis of  the behavior of  the Jews. This is particularly apparent from the teachings contained in the Ten Commandments. In addition, it also considers the chosen people as a liability, rather than an opportunity to obtain particular privileges; thus, they were elected to serve God and to undergo several sufferings in implementing the service.

Abstract

Once a year, on the occasion of  celebrating the Feast of  Sacrifice (‘ Îd al-Adlhâ ) or at the time of Hajj, the Prophet Ibrahim as if “life” in the midst of  the Muslims through the repetition of a portion of  his life history. The recognition of the Muslims to the Prophet Ibrâhîm nearly as familiar with their recognition to the Prophet Muhammad. In Islam, he has a very important position and role. He is not only believed to be a prophet who has certain privileges, but also be a good example and model, especially in his obe- dience to Allah, his sincerity in religion, and his persistence in holding the principle of the oneness of Allah. However, the Qur’an, the main source of Islam, does not provide a detailed and chronological story about him but only a sort of fragments that could be considered off each other, but it all revolves around the fundamental religious attitude of Abraham as a Muslim, Hanîf, and away from polytheism. A detailed story of  Abraham is usually equipped with sources outside the Qur’an, both originating from Muslim writers or derived from sources that are usually refer red to Isrâîliyyât stories, including the stories of  Abraham contained in the Old Testament.

Abstract

This Article discusses about religious history of individual and how it effects to individual religious orientation, attitude and behavior. The discussion of this article based on a research finding of the same topic in one of state university in Yogyakarta, which focuses on how this religious history, orientation, attitude and behaviour pertains to different religious orientation of the student, namely liberal, fundamentalist and moderate orientation. It is ver y interesting when the writer finds out that in terms of religious orientation these three groups of the students prove the same type of religious orientation. And also for some aspects of religious life, the differences of them is not quite clear cut. These findings again prove that what we assume about them can not always be proved in the reality.

Abstract

Most of Indonesian Muslims are adherents of ahlu as-sunnah wa al-jama’ah (Sunni). It is therefore easily to be assumed that Indonesian Muslim business- men are also the adherent of the Sunni Muslims groups. This paper explores theological belief systems of Asy’ariyah on work, responsibility and wealth. Muslim’s theological beliefs could explain the motivation of  Muslims to work and obtain the wealth. Functionally, a belief  that work is a form of  individual responsibility, that work is the way to gain wealth, and that all Muslims must work would drive Muslims to active in productive ventures, instead of being fatalistic and mushy. Muslims should realize the important of wealth, because by owning the wealth they could actualize themselves and preclude them from scoundrelly conditions, while at the same time they should also aware that the wealth is belong to God.

Abstract

Indonesia serves as a countr y with variety of cultures, traditions and religions. Religion, as one of the assets, becomes the problem in interfaith encounter when it faces the truth claim and ag gressive mission. As the consequence, the unexpected conflict happens that resulted in abundant victim and material loss. Two queries include Raimon Panikkar’s cosmotheandric concept in interfaith relation and its relevance on inter-religious relation in Indonesia. This article uses library research applying Peter L. Ber ger’s social construction theor y to analyze the construction of  Panikkar’s concept and its relevance on inter-religious relation in Indonesia. Cosmotheandric, in this context, is a reality connected theos, anthropic and cosmos dimension. Panikkar’s  Cosmotheandric has been constructed from Christian Trinity, Hinduism Advaita Vedanta and Buddhism Pratityasamut. Religion, in cosmotheandric structure, is situated in the antropical dimension. As the result, Panikar views religions as a part of reality that constructed Cosmotheandric reality. In this regard, religions bore the interconnected entity that constructed Cosmotheandric reality. The application of idea in Indonesian context is done by altering the Cosmotheandric language into local expressions that has sound meaning with theos, antropos and cosmos.
