Abstract

The furnace is a device used to convert potential energy into heat energy. Furnace for the community is one of the important tools for cooking. Combustion is the reaction of a substance with oxygen (O2 ). Combustion is one of the most widely used biomass energy conversions because it produces direct thermal energy. The purpose of this research is to analyze the number of holes and analyze the comparison of burning briquette stoves with kerosene stoves. The data collection method is carried out by direct observation of the community and collecting references from related books and journals. Analysis conducted on the number of holes in the briquette stove (21, 33 and 43) shows the most effective results in the use of briquette stoves are briquette stoves which have 43 holes. The time to heat the water is 15 minutes with the same amount of water and fuel volume, the water volume is 500 ml and 600 grams of fuel and the final temperature is 100 oC. The heating time of kerosene stove is 12 minutes and the heating time of briquette stove is 15 minutes.Keywords: Briquette stove, hole variation, design, combustion, efficiency

Abstract

Energy demand and consumption is currently increasing and is focused on the use of fuel oil and gas whose prices are increasing and reserves are very limited. One alternative energy that needs to be developed through processing agricultural waste is briquette fuel. The raw material for briquettes used in this study is coconut shell. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in mesh size on the thermal characteristics of coconut shell charcoal briquettes. The research method used in the form of experiments with the stages of the implementation of the coconut shell made and crushed and sifted using 20, 30 and 40 mesh sieves and using starch adhesive 10 % of the weight of raw materials with a pressure of 100 kgf/cm². The results showed that the smaller the particle size, the higher the heating value of 6118.49 cal/g. 8.45% moisture content, 2.56 % ash content, 13.28 % fly substance and 75.71 % bonded carbon. The conclusion of this research is the level of thermal characteristics of coconut shell charcoal briquettes is influenced by particle size, the smaller the particle size, the higher the heating value produced.Keywords: Briquette, coconut shell, starch, particle size

Abstract

With the increasing population, the need for fuel also increases so that otheralternative sources are needed. One of the renewable energy that needs attention to be developed is agricultural waste such as rice husks, coconut shells, cashew skins, sago fronds, cocoa shells, and other agricultural or plantation waste. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the cocoa pod briquettes and cashew nut shells. The method used in this research is to use variations in pressure at the time of printing, the pressure used is 50 kg/cm2, 100 kg/cm2 and 150 kg/cm2. The characteristics of the briquettes tested were density, moisture content, ash content, heating value and rate of combustion. The results showed that the highest density was 0.91 kg/cm3 with a pressure of 150 kg/cm2 , the highest water content value was 13.84 % with a pressure of 50 kg/cm2 , the highest ash content was 5.16 % at a pressure of 150 kg/cm2, the value of The highest heat is 6024.33 Cal/g with a pressure of 150 kg/cm2, and the longest burning rate is 44 minutes with a pressure of 150 kg/cm2. So it can be concluded that the higher the compacting pressure during printing, the higher the value of density, ash content, heating value, combustion rate and moisture content value are getting better.Keywords: Briquettes, compaction, cocoa skin, cashew seed skin

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to make an updraft gasification design for a mixture ofthe composition of a mixture of cashew shell and rice husk that produces an optimalgas material, the method used is to make a direct manufacture of an updraft typegasification reactor and to take temperature measurements for each of thespecified compositions. The results showed that the design of the updraftgasification device for cashew skin and rice husk functioned well, because of thegasification process carried out by the two fuels used to produce flammable gas.The best mixture composition is a mixture of 500 grams of rice husk and cashew skin 500 grams with a temperature of 450 ˚C cashew skin and rice husk that produces optimal gas. Generally, the fuel used produces in the 15-20 minutes.Keywords: Gasification reactor designer, Gasification; Alternative Energy

Abstract

The fruit grain Bark range is one potential alternative fuel to make briquettes. This research was conducted to know the proximate analysis and the rate ofcombustion of biocharcoal briquettes produced from the bark of the distance.Charcoal fruit beans that have been carbonized distances are further filtered using a sieve of 40 mesh with variations of kanji adhesive Composition 90%: 10%, 80%: 20% and 70%: 30%. Then both materials are mixed and printed into briquette then tested to know the heat value, moisture content, ash content, the content of flying substances, carbon levels and the rate of combustion. Based on the results of analysis obtained from this research if it is reviewed from the proximate analysis is the best fruit seed leather briquette is shown by charcoal briquettes of fruit beans distance and adhesive kanji with composition 90%: 10%, Heat value 6830 cal/GR, water content 8.82%, ash content 4.88%, flying substance content of 13.16% and fixed carbon levels 73.14%. The results of this study showed the difference treatment of composition of the leather charcoal briquette fruit range and adhesive kanji can give effect to the value of heat, moisture content, ash content.The content of flying substances, and fixed carbon levels.Keywords: Fuel, charcoal briquette, adhesive material, leather fruit grain spacing.
