Abstract

This research is motivated by a decrease in the level of quality of life in line with the decline in volume and quality of water that is in the earth, with the aim to improve the ecological intelligence students about water conservation. This classroom action research conducted with fourth grade students at SDN Sukaperna I Majalengka. Solution action used is to apply learning-based IPS values of local wisdom situ sangiang so focused for students to interact with the natural surroundings. This research was conducted in three cycles consisting of a cycle component of knowledge, awareness and application. The results showed that the application of the values of local wisdom in learning IPS can increase the intelligence of the ecological aspects of water conservation. It is evident from the percentage component of intelligence character formation of ecological aspects of water conservation in the form of knowledge, awareness, and applications continue to increase at every meeting in the cycle. Thus, the hypothesis has been made evident that the application of the values of local wisdom can increase the intelligence of the students on the ecological aspects of water conservation in social studies learning.Keywords: Intelligence ecological, water conservation, local wisdom, social studies learning.

Abstract

Aikido as a form of martial arts has its own unique characteristics both in term of tradition and communication behavior that applied by its students. The study is aimed to analyze the practitioners’ nonverbal communication behaviors in Bandung Aiki Jutsu nonaffiliated Aikido school. The study focused on three matters related to the communication phenomena, and they are; nonverbal communication pattern, meanings of nonverbal symbols comprehended by the practitioners, and the practitioners’ social construction as well as the school. The author employed a qualitative approach in the tradition of phenomenology. Then, in collecting the data, the author employed an emic approach in order to have an in-depth interview and a participation observation. Besides, documentation study is used to support the data findings. The result of the study shown that there are two motives that appear behind the practitioners interest toward Bandung Aiki Jutsu Aikido school, they are internal aikidoka motive and external aikidoka motive. Besides, the study pointed out that the nonverbal symbols in the Aikido school are apreciated by the Aikido practitioners as symbols of self harmony, respect, motivation, togetherness, self identity, self confidence, and responsibility The applied nonverbal symbols is a form of appreciation and acculturation towards Japanese culture. Therefore, the Japanese culture can be synchronized to local culture that has been obtained by the Aikido practitioners in Bandung Aiki Jutsu. Moreover, the nonverbal symbols that applied by the Aikido practitioners appear to have subsitution, complementary, and accentualization function.Key words: Aikido, Bandung Aiki Jutsu, Nonverbal Communication

Abstract

The aim of this study is to comprehend the influnces of social inquiry learning implementation against student critical thinking skill. The population of this study is all of the fourth grade students at Bojongherang Cluster in Cianjur. The process of taking sample is done by purposive sampling and the result is two classes of sample. The fourth grade of Bojongherang 2 as an experiment class that applies social inquiry learning, while the fourth grade of Bojongherang 4 as a control class that applies a conventional learning strategies. The study’s datais inquired through the pretes ang posttes by essay examination. The result of this study shows that social inquiry learning implementation give a significant effect to increase student critical thinking skill. Based on statistical calculation we find the critical thinking skill of boys student is higher than the girls student. Beside that, student who have a parent as a merchant is better than the student who have a parent as a civil servant and an employee in the way of thinking. Its assumed that the merchant have an entrepreneur soul who have a creative and autonomously thinking.Key word: social inquiry learning, critical thinking skill.

Abstract

Learning Social Studies (IPS) is a compulsory subject taught. Learning IPS has a very wide range of material. Reality on the ground results of test scores of fourth grade students of SDN Babakan Tarogong 5 in social studies subject of natural resources, economic activity and technological advances in the district / city and province is still very low. This is due to social studies learning not meet minimum completeness, because the strategy used so far have not matched the learning process. The purpose of this study to determine the activities of students in participating in learning by using learning strategies of problem solving. The results of this research has reached the average value of the class.Keyword : Natural resources, economic activities, technological progress.

Abstract

This study discusses the public understanding of the contents of Law No. 22 of 2009 regarding Traffic and Road Transportation. This is important, considering traffic and road transportation has an important role to realize the security, prosperity, order traffic and road transportation to support economic development. Methods Research method used is a normative juridical approach, Specifications descriptive analytical research, conducted research stage through the study of literature to examine the primary legal materials, secondary law, and tertiary legal materials. Data collected through the study of documents, and the method of data analysis is done through qualitative normative. The results showed that the understanding of the contents of Law No. 22 of 2009 regarding Traffic and Road Transportation is difficult to measure the level of legal awareness of citizens because there are other factors that affect the example of officials and oversight mechanisms in determining well.Keywords: legal education, legal awareness, understanding, traffic and road transportation law.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing number of social deviation in the community that directly or indirectly affect the characteristics of learners. As a result, what the students see, experience and feel, also gives effect to the psychological and social development of learners, both positive and negative influences. Therefore, the necessary social capital of each learner as a result of learning social studies in school. The survey research was conducted in ten junior high schools in Subang with a sample of 360 eighth grade students were then divided proportionally. Data collection technique used observation, questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. Data obtained from respondents, further processed and analyzed using path analysis (path analysis), the results are as follows: 1) learning motivation positive effect on social capital learners, 2) prosocial behavior in IPS positive effect on social capital learners, 3 ) family environment has a positive effect on social capital learners, 4) motivation to learn, prosocial behavior and the family environment, positive effect on social capital learners, 5) there is a significant difference between learning motivation, prosocial behavior, family environment and social capital learners based cluster region.Keywords: motivation to learn, prosocial behavior, family environment and social capital.

Abstract

Youth is the hope of the nation that has a great responsibility for the future of the nation and country. A heavy burden on his shoulders has its own consequences, which the youth must be able to work and participate in development. Youth with all its potential has an important role in the future life. Therefore, the youth must master in soft skills and hard skills to be able to compete with other nations in the world. This paper describes the role of the youth to build a nation with wisdom, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs to have to face the various challenges of the times. Similarly, the readiness of the youth needed both physically and psychologically in order to welcome the free market of Southeast Asia / ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) is imminent. Youth with all the benefits expected to be the generation that is better than the previous generation, so that the nation still exist in the eyes of the world. Through the study of literature describes how the role of youth in the face of global challenges to be enactment of Asian Economic Community (MEA) will be presented very competitive. In addition to the example and support that should be provided by parents, governments, and private parties as well as other related exercise wisdom, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual youth should be conducted on an ongoing basis in order to anticipate things that are not desirable. Abstract

This research was motivated by the concern over student’s delinquency phenomenon, especially bullying that have been widespread in education. Like a vicious circle, if bullying was not stopped it’s more likely being passed from one generation to others among the victims. Special handling needed in order to break the bullying chain. Based on preliminary observations in SMP Negeri 4 Bandung, some bullying behaviors were visibly done by the students of class VIII - E. Based on the data collected, bullying behavior by students of class VIII - E were quite high, therefore a learning strategy should be formulated in social studies to reduce bullying. The approach used in this study was class activity observation by adopted VCT model of role playing in social science learning implementation. The instrument used was a student’s bullying behavior observational sheet and student’s social science learning activities field note. Data collection techniques being used were observation, documentation studies and interview, while for the data processing and analysis qualitative and quantitative technique were used. Based on the final research being done, first the implementation started by determined the competency standards and basic competencies in order to arrange the lesson plan being used, second VCT role-playing model was implemented in the social science learning process in the classroom, third the result of the research during the class activities shown that bullying behavior of the students in 1st cycle up to the 3rd cycle were decreased, forth the obstacles from each cycle was reflected, fifth some efforts given to overcome the obstacles appeared from each cycle. Conclusion from the research was, the maximum result achieved in decreasing bullying behavior was in the 3rd cycle.Keyword: Bullying, Value Clarification Technique (VCT).

Abstract

The background of this study is the environmental conditions which are prevalent behavioral deviations and social background of students who come from low-income families, low education and family control is inadequate and learners need to have a level of resilience that is high in order to face the problems of their lives and avoid social deviation behaviors. The method employed in this research was Classroom Action Research, referencing the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, namely action research regarded as a spiral of the cycles of “Plan, Act, Observe, and Reflect,” which in this research were conducted in three cycles. Based on observations and analysis of the eight indicators of resilience, namely (1) Emotion Regulation; (2) Impulse Control; (3) Optimism; (4) Causal Analysis; (5) Empathy; (6) Self-efficacy; (7) Accomplishments; and (8) Faith and Spirituality, it is known that there is an increased resilience of learners after three cycles of actions, each consisting of two actions. In cycle I, the percentage of students with high resilience was 50%. An increase was observed in the second cycle, where the percentage of students with high resilience rose to 66.67%, and in cycle III all students acquired high resilience (100%). From this research it is known that the use of methods of problem based learning in social studies learning by taking the theme of social deviation can increase the resilience of learners.Keywords: Resilience, Problem Based Learning.

Abstract

The organisation of student of university holds the big role in developing students’civic skills to preprare themselves into civilization. Based on the result of the observation and discussion, found that: students’ motivation for “ormawa” is decreasing because of they are more intended on academic area and dealt with the competition of life style which comes closer to the hedonism than to civilization. University students’ organisation is using many kinds of media for socialize. An effective media will make an easier way in receiving an information, also it can spread out the information which is related to many kinds of activities that is done by “ormawa”quickly and accurately. The role of “ormawa” towards skill development of the society of the students of university is as the place of student aspiration and as a trigger of university students’ ways of think for critically thinking, taking responsibe, and scientifically. The problems which “ormawa” lives during the activity especially in civic skills development are about internal and external problems. For instance, about finance, legalization, life style, communication and coordination, students’ motivation, the difference of students’ background, facility, and administration. The attempt to solve these problems are by doing develoving culture, designing program and an attractive material, discipline, comprehendingconflict management, providing working assessment or evaluation, and doing ormawa’s role in university as well as possible.Keyword: Students, university students organisation, civic skill
