Abstract

The research of Balinese social – themed pop-song text by Anak Agung Raka Sidan is aimed to describe the elements and the function of the text song itself.. In the term of data supplied by using observational method which is also helped by noticing and translating techniques. In the analysis phase used qualitative methods in the manner of descriptive – analytic technique. The result of the analysis is presented by using informal methods which is assisted by deductive and inductive techniques.The result that is obtained in this research is the Balinese social-themed pop-song text by Anak Agung Raka Sidan has a similar form to the poetry, so that the song text has the nature and formation method. The nature of the song text included the theme, sense, tone and trusteeship whereas the formation method included the diction, imagination, real word, figure of speech, and also the rhythm and rhyme. The function of Balinese social-themed pop-song text by Anak Agung Raka Sidan is divided into four functions, such as esthetic function, education function, social function, and economical function.

Abstract

This research is aimed to get data about the types of stone tools based on the location and the sharpness angel. Furthermore, microscopic observation of the wear traces are fractures, striations, polish, and rounding. The shape and wear trace were analyzed with artefactual and comparative technique to determind function of stone tool. Clasification of the 186 stone tools found in Gede Cave Site excavation in Box III, while analysis to trace wear of 27 stone tools that represent each type, subtype, and size. The analysis result shows that, the stone tools from Box III of Gede Cave Site can be classified into five types, namely: MLD, MTJ, MST, BLD, and BTJ. MLD type was used to scrape wood and leather, to whittle bone; to saw, and to perforate the leather. MTJ type was used to scrape wood, and leather; to plane wood; and to whittle bone. MST type was used to scrape the wood, leather,and plants. BLD and BTJ types were used to choppe wood. MLD.Cb, BTJ.Lr, MLD.Lr, and MTJ.Lr type cannot be predicted what its function.

Abstract

Women's language is closely related to gender. Spoken word (language) used by the women are more subtle than the language used by the men. The women tend to be more refined manners, (avoiding the use of bad words), the language standard, extensive use of tag questions, often use intonation rises, and many using feelings. In the current study examined women's language is written in the magazine Femina and Sekar.

Abstract

This article analyzes the psychological aspect of the main characters in six shortstories from the book Pengantin Luka written by K.Usman. From the fifteen short storiesfrom the book, six are chosen because they have a same theme that is marriage. Theory ofpsychology of literature is used to analyze those short stories as the main characters involvein the internal conflict within themselves which rose because of id, ego and superego. Thecharacters are Tantini, Sarinah, Karel, Gadis, Nabila, and Maligum posses the giving wayand sincere feeling, sadness and longing, faith and wait, selecting a partner, honesty and lies,even a real and fake happiness. Human beings always catches for happiness and ignores thetension so that they can’t make the differentiation between fantasy and reality. Marriage forsome people is the most wanted and the happiest thing but this short story revealed anotherside of marriage. A bride is couples of human that have been committed to the marriage.Wound is a painful feeling because of the pain.

Abstract

The numerable research of ancient Javanese is based on the unique things which appear in this numeral of ancient javanese. Which as the fact that there is numeral which derives from Sanskrit and it is also used in Ancient Javanese. Beside that, the numerable research of Ancient Javanese has not done yet before. The purpose of this research is to describe the forms and the characteristics of the numeral of Ancient Javanese. This research was analyzed based on the structural theory by Ferdinand de Saussure. The dichotomy that is used in this research is synchronic analysis, signifiant-signifie, langue-parole and syntagmatic-paradigmatic relationship. Formly, this numeral of Ancient Javanese can be divided into two. They are, base numeral and derivational numeral. The derivational numeral can also be divided into three, they are, the numeral of affix, duplication and combination. The characteristics that differenciate the numeral of Ancient Javanese and the other word classes are morphology and syntax.

Abstract

The research about functions of Geguritan Pikukuh Jagat are aimed to understand theelements of functions, and to analyze how this Geguritan Pikukuh Jagat role in Balinese Hinducommunity. The main theory of this research was theory of functions. The theory of functionswhich was used to analyze the implicit functions of Geguritan Pikukuh Jagat was taken baredon some opinions by Luxemburg, Damono, dan Endaswara.In research, methods andtechniques was divided into three steps, providing data, analyzing data and presenting data.Providing data used refer method, observe understanding the text with translation technique.Analyzing data used qualitative method, and descriptive analytic technique. Presenting dataused the informal method.The functions contained in Geguritan can be used as a religious guidan becausegeguritan contained ideology of Hindu which can be used by people are the guidelines tobehave better, leadership function discusses about how to be a good leader, which has toconcern about group necessity rather than selfish necessity. Abstract

Sebuah karya sastra yang dibuat berdasarkan imajinasi penulis danumumnya mencerminkan kondisi sosial, yang menggunakan lingkungan sosial disekitarnya sebagai dasar. Wellek dan Warren (1973:39) menyatakan bahwakarya sastra itu sendiri membenarkan semua kepentingan kita dalam kehidupanseorang penulis, dalam lingkungan sosial dan seluruh proses sastra.Untuk menganalisa sebuah karya sastra diperlukan mengidentifikasibagian-bagian terpisah untuk menentukan hubungan antara bagian-bagiannyauntuk menemukan hubungan bagian tersebut dengan karya sastranya (Kenney,1966:5). Novel adalah salah satu contoh prosa fiksi yang menggambarkankarakter dan memperkenalkan lebih dari satu kesan, efek atau emosidigambarkan sebagai cerita lama untuk menulis dalam sebuah buku. Karaktermerupakan salah satu aspek penting, ia membawa berita dari penulis yang dapatmembawa berbagai nilai dalam kehidupan manusia seperti moralitas, pendidikandan banyak lainnya.Dalam studi ini, cerita berjudul A Visit of Charity dipilih untuk dianalisa.Penulis menggambarkan suatu tema tentang kepentingan diri sendiri danketidakpekaan melalui tindakan tokoh Marian, terutama di akhir cerita. Mariandatang untuk memberikan sesuatu, yaitu pot tanaman, bukan dirinya sendiri. Diabahkan tidak memberikan waktu seperti yang diberikan gadis yang lainnya yaitumembaca alkitab kepada perempuan tua di rumah tersebut. Saat ia berteriakuntuk menunggu bus, melompat pada, dan menggigit buah apel, dia tidakmenunjukkan perasaan yang tersentuh. Dia hanya menginginkan mendapatkannilai tambah pada kunjungannya, tidak ada lagi yang penting.Selanjutnya dalam cerita ini penulis mengatakan bahwa amal palsu dapatmenghancurkan kemanusiaan yang berpura-pura mengakui. Orang-orang sepertiMarian bertindak baik karena tugas atau untuk keuntungan pribadi yang telahmenciptakan Rumah panti asuhan bagi orang tua dan kondisi yang telahmembuat penduduk marah, dan merasa tidak suka. Marian meninggalkan duawanita tua di panti asuhan tersebut merasa lebih kesepian dan putus asa.Kunjungan semacam ini bukanlah kunjungan sosial tentunya.

Teori yang di gunakan berasal dari dua buku yang dikarangoleh Halliday and Hasan yang berjudul Language, Context, and Text: Aspects of Language in aSocial-Semiotic Perspectiv dan buku kedua berjudul in the book Cohesion of English (1976).Temuan yang didapat dari penggunaan teori diatas mendasar pada unsur-unsur konteks situasidan jenis kata penghubung yang di gunakan dalam iklan tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Semiotic Analysis of Love Album Cover by Angels &Airwaves Band”. Data diambil dari "Angels & Airwaves" (AVA) sampul album.Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi unsur-unsur semiotik dan untukmengetahui makna serta pesan yang tersirat dari simbol dalam sampul album.Data yang terkumpul dianalisa secara kualitatif berdasarkan teori semiotik olehPeirce dalam mengeksplorasi ikon, indeks dan simbol dari tanda visual. Teoripendukung yang digunakan yaitu teori komunikasi visual oleh Dyer, yangmembantu untuk mempresentasikan elemen semiotik di balik sampul album; sertamenggunakan teori makna oleh Ogden dan Richard, setelah mengetahuimaknanya, maka analisa dilanjutkan dengan mengungkapkan pesan yang terdapatdalam sampul album dan disajikan secara deskriptif. Temuan analisismenunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teori semiotik berhasil menyampaikan pesan(makna) di balik tanda visual dalam sampul album. Tampilan dalam tanda visualtersebut juga dimaksudkan untuk menarik perhatian penonton agar terbujuk untukmembeli album AVA.

Abstract

Kakawin Karón?ntaka has uniques things that can be seen from the title itself.The titles of this literature is “Karón?ntaka” by “Sang Kawi”(writers) which literallymeans “the death of Karna”. Generally, the characteristics of the main character is crueland egoistic. He defends Korawa who likes doing cheating and wickedness. He alsoopposes the kindness and the rightness. But in this Kakawin Karón?ntaka, the maincharacter “Karna” is become protagonist. That is why the writer is interested inanalysing this Kakawin Karón?ntaka in semiotics. In this research is mainly purposed toanalyze the meaning of Kakawin Karón?ntaka by matrix and model. The method that isused in collecting data is reading text method. The data were analyzed based on theprinciple and semiotics as the main base. This research provided the meaning of KakawinKarón?ntaka and was firstly done by matrix analysis. The matrix of KakawinKarón?ntaka is “satya wakya”. There is also another meaning of Kakawin Karón?ntaka,that is, loyal to the words (satya wakya).
