Abstract

Multimedia%2C dual-modality instructions are beneficial only under some%2C well-defined%2C circumstances and have negative consequences under other circumstances. This article analyse the cognitive consequences of adding seductive elements involving scientific explanation. In conclusion%2C when giving a multimedia explanation%2C use few rather than many extraneous words and pictures. The most straightforward practical implication is that instructional software designers should carefully limit the amount of auditory/visual elements for reasons of appeal or entertainment. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Multimedia%2C instruksi-instruksi dual-modalitas%2C bisa menguntungkan hanya di bawah keadaan-keadaan yang ditentukan dengan baik dan memiliki konsekuensi-konsekuensi negatif di bawah keadaan-keadaan lain. Artikel ini mengkaji konsekuensi-konsekuensi kognitif dari penambahan elemen-elemen seduktif pada penjelasan ilmiah. Disimpulkan%2C saat memberikan penjelasan multimedia%2C gunakanlah lebih sedikit (daripada banyak) kata-kata dan gambar-gambar yang tidak ada hubungannya. Abstract

An animated film will end in vain no matter how well it is without the support of media to give buzz to the message of the film. One of the most important advertising media in promoting an animated film is the poster. Because the animation movie poster is the leading medium which deals directly with the target audience in delivering information about the film before the screening of the film takes place. So visualization of the poster that includes the composition of verbal and non verbal language deserves more attention in its design.

Abstract

Design is commonly regarded as an act of individual creation to which both verbalization and logical analysis are only peripherally relevant. This article reviews a research study about talking design by Tomes et al (1998) which involving graphic designers and their clients. The conclusion is that talking design -- verbal and visual -- is the design itself. Comments from a design-major student give more light to the research s outputs. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Desain umumnya dipandang sebagai karya ekspresi diri. Analisis logis dan penerjemahan verbal hanya dianggap relevan di permukaan saja. Students%2C as well as teachers%2C have different cognitive styles%2C and so styles of learning vary as much as styles of teaching. The teaching strategies can be design education %2C their learning can be severely impaired if they are mismatched with teacher who prefer%2C or teaching programmes which impose%2C a different learning style. Abstract

Delivering text simultaneously in written and spoken form is common in multimedia presentations. Nevertheless%2C the assumption that simultaneous presentations of written and auditory text is beneficial may be erroneous. From a theoretical perspective%2C it is suggested that it persons are required to coordinate and stimultaneously process redundant material are such as written and spoken text%2C an excessive working memory load is generated. Working memory may be overburdened if instruction involves excessive elements of novel information processed simultancously. The common instructional procedure (particularly in multimedia instructional) of presenting identical spoken and written material simultancously may need to be avoided. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Mengirim teks secara simultan dalam bentuk tulisan dan ucapan merupakan hal yang lumrah dalam presentasi-presentasi multimedia. Namun demikian%2C asumsi bahwa presentasi simultan dari teks tulisan dan terucap menguntungkan mungkin berlebihan. Dari perspektif teoritis%2C dinyatakan bahwa jika pelajar diminta untuk mengkoordinasikan dan secara simultan memproses materi yang berlebihan seperti teks tertulis dan terucap%2C dihasilkan muatan memori kerja yang berlebihan. Memori kerja mungkin terlalu dibebani jika instruksi melibatkan elemen-elemen informasi baru yang berlebihan yang diproses secara simultan. Abstract

This experiment includes two groups of college students with difference in literacy orientation type%2C visual and verbal%2C all consist of 80 people. The experiment was held to compare impacts of presenting information in essential message design format (DPE) and seductive-visual (DPS). To analyze the experiment%2C MANOVA statistical technique is used with 0.05 in significance level. Abstract

The development in women%5C%27s role is constructed by ads%5C%27 aestheticism and women%5C%27s attitude. Aestheticism provokes bad taste advertisement reducing woman as a mere biological object. Capitalistic system and structure has encouraged women to compete in social arena and subordination of women by men as well as conflicts among women. The empowerment of women%5C%27s role in ads can be achieved by generating the awareness on women not to part in stereotype establishing which inflicts women%5C%27s esteem. Further%2C law enforcement is required to control bad taste advertising. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Perkembangan peran perempuan disebabkan oleh estetisisme iklan dan sikap perempuan sendiri. Estetisisme menyebabkan bad taste advertisement yang mereduksi perempuan sebatas mahluk biologis semata. Abstract

Constructivist learning environments are concerned with both what and how one learns. The increasing interest in alternative assessment is reflecteted in the proliferation of term such as portfolio assessment. Portfolios have an honored history of use in fields such as art and design. A Critical%2C often overlooked%2C aspect of portfolio assessment is that the student’s evaluation of his/her own work is just as important as the evaluation rendered by others.
