Abstract

The level of knowledge and awareness of the Indonesian people towards preventive efforts of various diseases related to the oral cavity and teeth has not been optimal. The importance of the role of self-effort in optimizing oral cavity hygiene and inhibiting the growth of various types of harmful bacteria that can lead to plaque formation, dental caries, causes of gingivitis, and periodontitis, such as: bacterial species Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis. The combination of green tea, cloves, cinnamon bark, and mint leaves containing secondary metabolites from the sterols, tannins, phenols, saponins, and flavonoids groups has traditionally been used as antibacterial, anti-plaque and anti-aviation. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve understanding of health and prevention of infections in the oral cavity and teeth, as well as assistance in training skills in making herbal combination mouthwash with simple formulations for Posbindu partners. This activity was attended by lecturers and students of the D-3 Pharmacy Study Program, Department of Pharmacy, Poltekkes Kemenkes Bandung. Changes in health knowledge and skills of Posbindu partners were evaluated by giving pre-test and post-test questions. In the results of the evaluation of health understanding and skills, there was an increase in the total score of Posbindu partners in the 1st session of 20.41% from 67.35% to 87.76% (14 people were achieved, initially only 7 people exceeded the minimum score limit of 60.00%; N=14). Meanwhile, in the second session of Posbindu partners, the score increased by 28.57% from 63.64% (pre-test) to 92.21% (post-test) with the number of people who exceeded the minimum score limit of 11 people (post-test) from the pre-test results. the previous test was only 5 people (N=11). Abstract

Platelet aggregation has the potential to form thrombi and result in cardiovascular system diseases such as myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke - one of the leading causes of death globally. Traditionally, people use binahong leaves as blood thinners. Therefore, this study aims to obtain scientific data on the efficacy of binahong leaf as antithrombotic. The efficacy test was carried out on male Swiss-Webster mice. The results showed that the ethanol extract of binahong leaves at doses of 50 (BLEE50) and 100 mg/kg bw (BLEE100) could increase bleeding time on H7 (7.61±1.79% and 3.72±1.76% vs 1.08±0.90%) and H14 (13.81±4.42% and 5.06±2.30% vs 1.66±1.09%) and coagulation time at H7 (5.01±1.36% and 4.18±1.67% vs 1.38±1.08%) and at H14 (7.92±1.97% and 7.19±1.96% vs 1.70±1.10%) significantly (p<0.05). The two doses of BLEE were formulated in the form of nanoemulsions with the Self Nano Emulsifying Drug Delivery System (NBLEE50 and NBLEE100) were also able to prolong bleeding time and coagulation time significantly (p<0.01) but only NBLEE50 prolonged bleeding time (p<0.05) significantly against BLEE50. In the test of the anti-platelet aggregation effect with ADP as an inducer, both doses of BLEE and the nanoemulsion preparation (NBLEE) could significantly (p<0.01) inhibit platelet aggregation with a percentage of inhibition >70% which was not different from the standard (acetylsalicylic acid). In the antioxidant effect test using the DPPH method, BLEE has an IC50 = 66.08?g/mL which is classified as a strong antioxidant. Both doses of BLEE and its NBLEE could significantly (p<0.01) inhibit lipid peroxidation in plasma and liver and NO radicals formation. BLEE50 can significantly (p<0.05) reduce mean platelet volume (6.05±0.24fL vs 6.55±0.34fL) and platelet distribution width (8.52±0.36% vs 9.25±0.42%). Based on those results, BLEE has the potential to be used as an antiplatelet aggregation and antioxidant.

Abstract

Peel-off type facial skin mask preparations from herbal/synthetic ingredients can have the advantages of being easily removed, such as elastic membranes, improving hydration of the skin, treating wrinkles, aging, and acne, shrinking pores, moisturizing the skin, and relaxing facial muscles. Posbindu partner cadres in the working area of Puskesmas Pasirkaliki, Cimahi City, feel that there is still a lack of understanding and skill level in making simple cosmetic preparations from herbal ingredients, especially peel-off type facial skin mask preparations. Thus, we, as an extension team from the Community Partnership Program (PKM) grant scheme, strive to provide booklets, counseling on various facial skin health materials, and training assistance in making peel-off type facial skin masks with simple formulations of a combination of Marchantia paleacea liver moss herbaceous plants and green tea leaves to posbindu partner cadres in the Pasirkaliki Puskesmas Working Area,  North Cimahi Village, Cimahi City. The mixed results of this community service activity indicate that there are benefits, such as a significant increase in the level of health understanding in the results of pre-test and post-test evaluations of various health education that have been provided, including the importance of utilizing peel-off type facial skin mask preparations from traditional herbal ingredients and Posbindu partner cadres as agents of change are expected to convey health information and skills that obtained so that it can be conveyed to the immediate family and the rest of the community in general

Abstract

The condition of the Covid-19 pandemic with various variant genetic mutations and severe manifestations can pose a risk of death with a relatively high transmission rate throughout the world. Moreover, the level of public awareness of compliance with health protocols and a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS), is still low from various survey results in Indonesia, including the Palasari and Cipadung Villages (Cibiru District), Bandung City, West Java. This community service activity aims to increase public health awareness and skills, especially community organization cadres as role models for other communities, such as PKK (Family Empowerment and Welfare) groups and KB (Family Planning) Villages with the Interprofessional Education (IPE) method conducted by a team of extension workers with various health science backgrounds with a series of activities that include: counselling on various health materials such as a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS), socialization of health protocols and self-isolation, mentoring on medical mask waste management, and how to make traditional herbal drinks as an immunomodulator (immunostimulant) to prevent/minimize the transmission of Covid-19. The entire counselling material was provided comprehensively to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 from various aspects, including aspects of nutrition, environmental health, 2000, and pharmaceuticals. The results achieved are the implementation of counselling on the introduction of Covid-19 and its various variants, prevention of Covid-19 from various health aspects, socialization of the application of health protocols, self-isolation, government vaccination programs, medical waste management, and how to make traditional drinks to improve the immune system in our body. The community service activities for Posbindu partner cadres in 2 Kelurahan were successfully implemented and could improve the understanding of health, attitudes, and behaviour of all Posbindu partner cadres by looking at the increase in the results of pre-test and post-test evaluations so that Posbindu partner cadres as part of change agents can distribute health information obtained to the public.
