Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research was to figure out whether or not text to self-connection technique was effective in teaching recount text writing to the year eight students of SMPN 3 Pontianak in academic 2017/2018. Text-to-self connection technique was used to teach recount text writing by connecting the reading text and students’ experiences. The form of the research was pre-experimental study with one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this research was the eighth grade students with the total number of students were 341. The sample of this research was VIII A which consisted of 35 students.  Through writing test in form of writing an essay, it was found that the students writing achievementincreased positively. It was proven by the learning outcomes of the students’ writing after being accustomed to writing using text to self-connection technique.Text to self-connection technique enabled the students how to elaborate and construct the ideas better for writing. Furthermore, it assisted the students how to construct the sentence and organize the generic structures. It was concluded that text to self-connection technique was effective and had a strong effect in writing recount text. Therefore, text-to-self connection technique is highly recommended for teaching recount text writing.Keywords: Text to Self-connection technique, Teaching Writing, Recount Text

Abstract

Abstrak : Salah satu materi yang diajarkan pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas VIII semester genap adalah Public Places and Sports diperlukan suatu media yang memungkinkan siswa dapat menggunakan alat indera secara optimal. Untuk itulah perlu dirancang sebuah media yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut. Selain itu agar materi yang disampaikan melalui multimedia tidak bersifat parsial, maka multimedia yang dikembangkan harus menimbulkan perubahan kognisi, afeksi dan psikomotor siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model konstruktivistik melalui multi media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya Public Places and Sports di kelas VIII SMP semester genap dalam bentuk CD pembelajaran, dan media yang dikembangkan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemerolehan empat keterampilan bahasa Inggris di sekolah. Media ini dirancang untuk pembelajaran mandiri. Hasil ujicoba media kepada siswa akan  mempunyai efek yang potensial, yaitu siswa suka belajar dengan multimedia, siswa aktif mengikuti pelajaran menggunakan media pembelajaran. Model Konstruktivistik melalui multimedia dalam pembelajaran membantu siswa untuk memperoleh keterampilan berbahasa Inggris dan mempraktekannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.   Kata Kunci : Model Konstruktivistik, Membangun , Multimedia, Pembelajaran, Konsep-konsep belajar  bahasa Inggris.   Abstract : One of the material which taught in English  especially on grade eight in even  semester is about public places and sports so that, in learning and teaching process is needed a media as a tool to stimulate students’ five senses hopely they can use it optimally. For that case it is necessary to design a media and  how to solve the problem faced by the students. Beside the material can be delivered impartially, multimedia is also developed to affect the students’  cognitive,  affective  and phsycomotor  changing. The purpose of this research is how to develop constructive model in English lesson especially when the  topics  are public places and sports in grade eight in even semester in form of CD interactive learning, and hope  the media which is developed can increase the four language skills achievement in school. This media is also designed for independent learners. The result of trial media to the student will affect potentially to the students that they like studying English by using  multimedia as a learning media. Using multimedia in learning is helping student to stimulate  the four  language skills and easy to practice it in their daily life.   Key words : Constructive Models, Developing, Multimedia,  Concepts, Instructional and Learning English.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebagai upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa di kelas VIIA semester dua SMP Negeri 3 Meliau pada Tahun Pelajaran 2012-2013. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas terhadap siswa kelas VII A SMP Negeri 3 Meliau berjumlah 38 Orang. Data diperoleh dari hasil penilaian keterampilan siswa dalam berbicara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara di kelas dengan menggunakan teknik bermain peran dapat meningkat. Data hasil test menunjukan bahwa rata-rata perolehan nilai siswa pada siklus 1 57,24 dan rata-rata perolehan nilai pada siklus 2 menjadi 66,18 yang berarti kategorinya cukup baik, dan itu berarti bahwa penggunaan teknik bermain peran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dikelas dapat digunakan. Kata kunci: Teknik bermain peran, Penelitian tindakan kelas, Kemampuan berbicara. ABSTRACT This research is designed as a research on improving students speaking ability in class to the second semester of the seventh grade class A students of SMP Negeri 3 Meliau in academic year 2012-2013. In this research the researcher used Role play as technique in teaching speaking. The method of this research is called A Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research was seventh grade class A students of SMP Negeri 3 Meliau in academic year 2012-2013 consist of 38 students. The data of this research were collected by using measurement technique that was a performance test to measure students achievements. The findings of this classroom action research showed that speaking ability in class increases by using Role play technique. Based on data analysis the mean score of the students on the first cycle is 57.24 that qualified poor to average, and the mean score of the students on the second cycle is 66.18 that is qualified average to good. It means that action hypothesis the using Role play technique to improve students speaking ability in class is proved. Keywords: Teaching Technique, CAR, Speaking Ability.
