Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in mastery of  concept through  problem based learning model assisted by computer simulations on the material of class XI optical devices in SMAN 8 Mataram. This type of research is quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The research population was all students of class XI MIA SMAN 8 Mataram. Sampel taken using purposive sampling technique. Students of class XI MIA 1 were selected as experimental class and class XI MIA 2 as control class. Hypothesis testing using t test with a significance level of 5% assisted by SPSS 23. Hypothesis testing yielded a significance level of 0.010 for mastery of concepts smaller than 0.05. Based on the provisions, Ho is rejected and it can be concluded that there is an influence of problem based learning models assisted by computer simulations on the mastery of the concepts. This result can be proved by the N-gain test, where there is an increase in mastery of concepts by using a problem based learning model assisted by computer simulations. The highest increase in sub-material for concept mastery data was seen in the reflection devices and lowest sub-material in binocular.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of the implementation of learning methods namely real experiments and virtual experiments on learning physics in SMAN 1 Kediri. In the real experiment method three-dimensional media is used, whereas in the virtual experiment method computer simulation in the form of Physics Education Technology (PhET) is used. Learning tools used consist of syllabus, learning implementation plans, subject matter books, learning media, student worksheets, and learning outcome tests. Test subjects are limited to learning devices using learning methods namely real experiments and virtual experiments are students of Class XI Science 1 in SMA 1 Kediri Academic Year 2017/2018. The learning model applied is inquiry with 6 stages, namely identification and formulation of problems, formulation of hypotheses, data collection, data interpretation, development of conclusions, repetition. Learning activities are carried out in 4 meetings. Assessment of the implementation of learning using a scale of 4 with criteria that is a score of 12 to 16 including very good criteria, a score of 8 to 11 including good criteria, scores 4 to 7 including poor criteria, and scores less than 4 including bad criteria. Based on the data analysis obtained the average value of learning implementation for 4 meetings is equal to 14. Thus it can be concluded that the implementation of learning methods namely real experiments and virtual experiments on learning Physics at SMAN 1 Kediri are very good criteria.

Abstract

This class action research aims to enhance the learning outcomes of the 6th graders of SD Negeri 6 Mataram in their science lesson by corporating Science KIT in teaching and learning activities inside the classroom. The research was conducted in 2 cycles, each of which included 4 different steps, namely, Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. After the research, it is shown that the average learning outcomes and classical completeness for the first cycle are 84,7 and 84%, while the average learning outcomes and classical completeness for the second cycle are 88,4 and 94% respectively. This thus shows an improvement in the students’ learning outcomes, especially related to electrical and thermal energy. This conclusion is drawn after looking at the fact that 94% of the students score more than 75 in the test. This result is only obtained after the science KIT has already been applied in Science Lesson inside the classroom.

Abstract

Pearl shells (pinctada maxima) are the superior commodities in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The shellfish is utilized as a producer of pearls while the waste of pearl shells has not been widely used by the community. Main composition of fhe pearl shells is calcium. CaO content was tested using AAS and obtained CaO in shells as much as 52.23%. CaO is used as a source of hydroxyapatite (HAp). Shellfish powder is synthesized with H3PO4 compound. Synthesis is conducted by precipitation method. Synthesis results were analyzed utilizing XRD and FTIR. From the examination, HAp compounds were identified. Group of PO43, CO32, and OH are constituent groups of HAp compounds. Moreover, another calcium phosphate is formed  namely TCP. This HAp compound has a maximum crystallinity of 78.33% at an angle of 77.18 °. The smallest HAp particle size at an angle of 31.92 ° is 1.4 μm. The degree of high crystallinity is influenced by high intensity and a wide FWHM. Meanwhile, the small molecule size is acquired on a wide FWHM with a small Bragg angle position.

Abstract

Lesson material presented in the form of data or facts and specific concepts on expository learning model helps learners to connect new material with material that precedes it, so organizers help is provided to instill meaningful learning. This study aims to determine the difference of influence of the implementation of learning model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer expository. The population in this study is all students of class X MIA SMA Negeri 3 Mataram academic year 2017/2018. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique, and quasi experimental research uses non-equivalent control group design with pre-test-and post-test. The results obtained from the classroom given the treatment of expository learning model assisted by advance organizer and post organizer have the same tendency improvement. In both classes there is a relatively similar increase in the mastery of the previous concept, but the difference between the two is not much different. Therefore, there is no difference of influence between expository model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer to the mastery of work and energy concepts of learners.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to investigate the effects of radiation on dielectric properties of PVA-CH films. Polymer (PVA-CH) films were irradiated with Gamma ray at 12 kGy. Polymer film containing PVA (poly Vinyl Alcohol) and Chloral Hydrate (CH) has been prepared by solution casting technique. The obtained polymer composite layers were irradiated with γ – rays at various doses to investigate the radiation effect on dielectric permittivity in the frequency range of 20 Hz – 1 MHz at room temperatures. The real (ε’) and imaginary (ε”) dielectric constant are found to increase with increase in irradiation dose.

Abstract

This study aim to analyze the critical thinking level of mechanical wave in the students of MAN 2 Mataram through Cognitive Conflict Approach. This research is a pre-experimental study with design only pretest-posttest group design. The population in this study is all students of class XI MIA MAN 2 Mataram, amounting to 257 students. Research sampling using purposive sampling technique, so selected XI class MIA 1, XI MIA 2, and XI MIA 4 as an experimental class that will be given treatment in the form of cognitive conflict approach. Data collection of critical thinking ability is done by description test as much as 5 problem and at the learning process obtained through LKPD. The results of hypothesis test analysis using parametric test paired sample t test and show that Ho rejected and Ha accepted, while the level of critical thinking ability included in category is very high for class XI MIA 1 and high category for class XI MIA 2 and XI MIA 4. The conflict cognitive approach applied successfully to increase the critical thinking ability.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models and its contribution to improving critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. This research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research samples was taken with a purposive sampling technique with criteria for physics prospective teacher were taking the fundamental physics course as many as 2 (two) classes that would be used as the experimental and control group. The research data were analyzed descriptively and statistically (inferential) using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 23.0. The results showed that the use of cognitive conflict strategies in inquiry-based learning models had a positive impact and contributed to the improvement of critical thinking ability of physics prospective teacher. Further description of the research conducted is presented in this article.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to overcome the increased of critical thinking’ students after they used worksheet with STEM approach. This research method is experiment method that consist of preparing, implementation, and data processing. Increasing of critical thinking can be measured by pretest-posttest problems. The result of data normalization show that data have normal distributed so next test is n-gain test. Result of the n-gain test pretest-posttest scores around 0.5 (medium level categorized). The highest improvement is 0.9 at evaluation aspect and lowest increase is 0.3 at interpretation aspect.

Abstract

Teaching is a teacher’s daily job. Nevertheless, it turns out that teaching students about how they should study is not easy. This research is included as Research and Development—also known as RnD—which aims to give an actual example of how to teach and to embed submarine concept in a simple way through Curriculum 2013. The result of the research, which is a student-oriented learning design which in turn is an implementation of scientific approach, is the output resulted from a long term study, development and experience obtained by the writer team through teaching and training a number of supervisors, school principals, and teachers in various areas of Indonesia. The responses for this teaching model obtained from the teachers have been very positive, whereby 95% teachers claimed that they are very interested in the design, and only 5% claimed that they are mildly interested. This thus indicates that this teaching model can become a model to be referred to in teaching using scientific approach in Curriculum 2013.
