Abstract

Using Mathematics Student Worksheet (LKS) made by math teachers are not optimal, especially in helping students connect learning in life. Therefore, it is necessary to develop LKS that can provide opportunities for students to construct their knowledge, so that students can find their own learning concept. Trigonometry material is an important material in learning mathematics and relevance with other lessons. In this research, developed LKS with contextual learning approaches for trigonometric materials. The aim of this development is to produce mathematics LKS based on contextual approach which is valid, practical and effective. The subjects of the study were 29 students. Validation are done by the expert ie lecturer of mathematics education, education technology, and language. The practicality of LKS has been seen from the observation of the implementation of learning, practicality of questionnaires, interviews conducted with students and teachers. Effectiveness has been seen from the results of student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Using Mathematics Student Worksheet (LKS) which is made by teachers before hasn’t been effective to help students in learning process. Therefore, the mathematics LKS needs to be developed to help students to find the concept themselves. Sequence and series material is important in mathematics at Vocational High School (SMK), and yet students still find difficulty to understand it. The aim of this development is to produce mathematics LKS based on contextual approach which is valid, practical and effective. This development research uses a formative evaluation model by Tjeerd Plomp. The subject of the research is the second year students of SMKN 6 Padang. Validation is done by experts / lecturers. The practicality of LKS is seen from the observation of the implementation of learning, practicality questionnaires, and interviews conducted with students and teachers. Effectiveness is seen from the results of activities and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

One of mathematics learning purposes for students is having the capability or skill to solve a mathematics’ problem, as a means for students to sharpen accuracy, logical, critical, analitycal, and creative reasoning so that problem was not a problem anymore for students. For optimal learning process, it is necessary supported by relevant learning device. This is the basis for research in mathematics learning device development like lesson plan and students worksheet based on Guided Discovery Learning model where learners are also learning and thinking to solve their problems independently through the materials facilitated by teachers and teacher’s guidance. This was a development research which applied Plomp model. Based on the result of research, it could be concluded that guided discovery learning was valid.
