Abstract

Organic fertilizer has the advantage of containing nutrients more complete than the inorganic fertilizer albeit in relatively small quantities. In general, organic fertilizers may contribute to improve the physical, chemical, and biological soil. Peneltian purpose compost To determine the effect of palm fronds on the physical properties of the soil (moisture content, bulk density and porosity of the soil) and dry weight of leaf tobacco. The experiment was conducted in September 2015 in State Polytechnic of Lampung experimental  garden, arranged in a randomized block design factorial with bio-activator treatment differences in the way applications compost mixed with soil and on the ground. Soil sampling was take 5 cm above ground. Observations carried out on soil water content, bulk density, porosity of the soil and leaf dry weight. The results showed that compost of oil palm fronds affect the physical properties of the soil, but not significantly different to the dry weight of leaf tobacco. Keywords: compost, soil physical properties, tobaccoPermalink: http://jurnal.polinela.ac.id/index.php/AIP/article/view/15

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the best slurry dosage for the growth of cocoa seedlings. This reaserch was conducted in the experimental garden, chemical analyzed laboratory, and soil laboratory of Politeknik Negeri Lampung on November 2017 until March 2018. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 doses of slurry (0 ml, 80 ml, 160 ml, 240 ml, 320 ml, and 400 ml). Observation variables in the form of premilinary observations abd observations during the study. Preliminary observations analyzed the levels of N, P, K, pH, and C-Organic on topsoil and slurry. Obsevation during the study were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, dry weight of shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and moisture content. The results showed that slurry doses did not affect on the cocoa seedling growth.

Abstract

The palm oil mill effluent (POME) generally has very high of BOD and COD contents, so it must be processed before it is drained to the body water. The purpose of this research was to determine the capability of active sludge and dolomite rate and the combination both of them in reducing the palm oil industry liquid waste. This research was conducted in December 2016 until January 2017 at Chemical Analysis Laboratory, State Polytechnic of Lampung. This research consists of two factors. First factor was the use of active sludge (without active sludge and 1 kg of active sludge), and the second factor was dolomite rate (0,3%, 0,6%, and 0,9% dolomite). The results obtained were calculated bassed on average repetitions then at compared with the value of initial analysis and quality standard, but the COD value is calculated based on the percentage of the reduction value, and all the observed values are presented in the graph. The results showed that the 1 kg active sludge treatment was more effective in degrading the wastewater than with no active sludge. The increased dose of dolomite to 0.9% combined with 1 kg of active sludge will be followed by an increase in pH (6,23) and DO (0,26 mg.l-1), but decrease COD to 53,7%, TSS to 810 mg.l-1, turbidity value to 700 NTU, and potassium content to 4865 mg.l-1.                                                 Keywords: chemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, palm oil mill effluent, total suspended solid, turbidity

Abstract

Goat is one of animal by the village people in Indonesia is one of the goat farm animals are much in demand by the people of the village. Adult goats capable  produce solid fecal waste as much as 0.5 kg per day, in the long term this will be a problem if not handled properly. Goat manure can be used as fertilizer. In the manufacture of manure requires serious attention because during the fermentation progresses, there is  variety of transformation processes in fertilizers. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of fermentation on the quality of goat manure. This study was conducted in State Polytechnic of Lampung in October 2014 until February 2015. The experimental design used was a randomized block design (RBD) consisted of six treatment fermentation period:  2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks with three replications.length of fermentation showed the presence of a marked influence on C/N ratio. The value of C/N ratio has decreased accordance with the length of fermentation time, indicated in the treatment of older fermentation 8, 10, and 12 which have a value of C/N ratio is getting smaller 15, 12, and 10.The nutrient content of N and P unless the element K not significantly different, but all three have increased. Based on research that has been done, it can be concluded that the length of fermentation effect on the value of C/N ratio, the content of N and P, but has no effect on the value of the content of K manure goats and best quality was obtained in treatment fermentation period of 10 weeks with a value of C/N ratio 12 and N content of 1.16%, P: 1.01%, and K: 1.27%.Keywords: fermentation duration, goat manure, organic fertilizerPermalink: http://jurnal.polinela.ac.id/index.php/AIP/article/view/50

Abstract

In the sugarcane processing into sugar, it will produce g. About 52,9% of liquias, solid, and luquid waste. About 52,9% of liquid waste cause many problems. If the liquid waste directly discharged into the waters, it will cause pollution of water bodies, as well as air pollution around the river. The objective of this study is to obtain the effective and duration activity of the combination of active sludge and sodium bicarbonate in reducing the sugarcane industry of liquid waste. In this research, liquid waste management is done by aerobicized batch system stagnant in laboratory scale with the descriptive analysis. Biodegradation treatment is given to the liquid waste derived from anaerobic ponds in Bunga Mayang Sugar Mill, North Lampung. The treatment is L0 = without treatment (control), L1 = without sludge + 5 g.l-1 sodium bicarbonate, L2 = 100 ml.l-1 active sludge + 5 g.l-1 sodium bicarbonate. The result showed that application of 100 ml.l-1 active sludge + 5 g.l-1 sodium bicarbonate can increase the pH to 7,85, increase DO to 0,16 mg.l-1, reduce COD to 48,18%, increase sulfide content to 90,44%, increase turbidity to 95,4%, increase the wastewater temperature to 35oC, and the time required is shorter than the conventional anaerobic pools.   Keywords: active sludge, liqud waste, sodium bicarbonatePermalink: http://jurnal.polinela.ac.id/index.php/AIP/article/view/650
