Abstract

Abstract This study aims to investigate the function of “tanduk” oral literature for its society. In this case, the people in question are society Genaharjo of Tuban district. Through the use of the theory of functions Alan Dundes and William R. Bascom, it is understood that the “tanduk” has a function of oral literature that focuses as the teaching and interdependence among societies that emphasize the benefits of practicality. “Tanduk” oral literature function is the function of propaganda, the function of social solidarity and an antidote to individualism, and the function of education in the socialization of values. The overall function of shaping identity in order to establish harmony in social life.Keywords: function, Genaharjo society, tanduk oral literature

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to understand the meaning of tanduk oral literary symbol of the indigenous society of Genaharjo, Tuban. Through the semiotic theory of Charles S. Pierce, it can be understood that the tanduk oral literature has the meaning of symbols represented in the meaning of symbols of the names of characters, the meaning of animal symbols, the meaning of food symbols, and the meaning of plants symbols. The meanings that exist in the tanduk oral literature that evolved in the Genaharjo indigenous society formally refer to a single meaning of life that life should give priority to salvation in prayer. Local people believe that true life in the world is salvation. Every tanduk of its formal essence begs for salvation and blessing from God.The idea of ​​salvation is the attitude and outlook of human life towards God, the universe, and fellow human beings. Keywords: symbol of meaning, indigenous society of Genaharjo, tanduk oral literature Abstrak: Penelitian ini betujuan untuk memahami makna simbol sastra lisan tanduk masyarakat adat  Genaharjo Kabupaten Tuban. Melalui teori semiotik Charles S. Pierce, dapat dipahami bahwa sastra lisan tanduk memiliki makna simbol yang direpresentasikan pada makna simbol nama tokoh, makna simbol binatang, makna simbol makanan, dan makna simbol tumbuh-tumbuhan. Makna-makna yang ada dalam sastra lisan tanduk yang berkembang dalam masyarakat adat Genaharjo secara formal mengacu pada satu makna hidup bahwa kehidupan harus mengutamakan keselamatan dalam berdoa. Masyarakat setempat meyakini bahwa hidup sejati di dunia adalah keselamatan. Setiap tanduk esensi formalnya memohon keselamatan dan keberkahan dari Tuhan. Paham keselamatan yang dimaksud adalah sikap dan pandangan hidup manusia terhadap Tuhan, alam semesta, dan sesama manusia. Abstract

The Seno Gumira Ajidarma short story collected in the Penembak Misterius trilogy is very interesting to read. In addition, as a social document, the collection of short stories can be identified a social setting that actually became a place of social events occurred, the social setting of the Penembak Misterius that occurred during the New Order era in the 1980s. More precisely the social setting created at the party meeting officials in a hotel, the shootings through the night, and the violence of the state apparatus. The social context referred to by Seno Gumira Ajidarma is a mysterious shooting incident known as "petrus" during the New Order period. It is intended to denounce the practice of legal violence from the action of "petrus." As a social document or even a social critique of the New Order rule, the Penembak Misterius trilogy comes as a social relation of literary works to social reality. That is because, the silence of the conscience is very interesting shown by the assassin. When the issue of "Petrus" is about to be removed from the memory of society, this trilogy is present in the public. The presence of the "Petrus" trilogy depicted in not only be seen as a social document but also a lawsuit against social reality in the New Order era.
