Abstract

Gewang (Corypha utan Lamk) is a member of a palm tree that grows wild in most parts of Indonesia. The gewang plant is rich in starch which is thought to be used as an additional ingredient in making Paracetamol tablets with wet granulation methods. This study aims to determine the effect of starch supplementation on the physical properties of Paracetamol tablets. This research is a type of experimental research. Tablets are made in three formulas based on variations in the ratio of starch gewang intragranular and extragranular. Comparison of three formulas intragranular and extragranular, namely: FI (100%: 0%), FII (75%: 25%), FIII (0%: 100%). Tablets are made in wet granulation method with starch binder. Homogeneous dry granules then tested for physical properties of granules include: flow time, stationary angle, and tapping. Furthermore, pressing and tablets obtained were tested for the physical and chemical properties of tablets including weight uniformity and hardness. Statistical analysis of the physical quality of tablets was carried out by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov data normality test, followed by the dendan One Way Anova. The results showed that the use of starch gewang intragranular, extragranular and intragranular and extragranular combinations affected the physical properties of tablets. The method of adding extragranular starch starch to formula 3 produced tablets with effective tablet fragility, which was to meet the physical properties of tablets.

Abstract

In the era of National Health Insurance (JKN) which has an impact on increasing people's motivation to check health at health care facilities, so that efforts to get drugs are quite easy. But the increasing use of drugs has not been supported by public knowledge about how to consume and manage medicines at home. This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge about the proper use of drugs (rational) and procedures for storing and disposing of drugs that have been damaged or expired properly. The method used in this service is to increase knowledge about Get Use of Save and Dispose of Medication (DAGUSIBU) PKK cadres by counseling or educating and mentoring drug management at home. The knowledge gained by the community in this activity is expected to change people's behavior in managing medicines at home and rational use of drugs. The method used in this service is by approach. From the results of evaluation and monitoring of activities that have been carried out shows a positive result, namely an increase in knowledge about rational drug use and proper management of medicines at home.

Abstract

Turmeric (Curcuma longa), which is widely grown in tropical Asia, is known to have various health benefits. The use of turmeric is well known, among others, as herbal medicine, whereas as an ingredient in effervescent tablets it has never been developed. This study aims to produce the best formula for making turmeric effervescent powder that the public likes. This research is an experimental research. Turmeric was extracted and then made an effervescent powder with three variations of the formula for citric acid and tartic acid, namely formula 1 (3: 1), 2 (2: 2), and 3 (1: 3). The effervescent powder that has been made was then evaluated for its physico-chemical properties and a hedonic test was carried out on 20 panelists to test their preferences for color, taste, aroma and texture. The data obtained were then analyzed using the SPSS 22 statistical test, using the ANOVA test and Duncan's Post Hoc advanced test. The results showed that all formulas met the criteria for chemical physical properties of effervescent powder drink where the Hedonic test results showed that formula 3 was the most preferred formula by panelists.
