Abstract

One way to improve behaviour is to provide dental health education using audio-visual media such as videos. Social media-based health education has been empirically proven to be effective in conducting health promotion efforts with the aim of increasing understanding and providing support to the community for healthy behaviour. Currently, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are 3 of the 7 social media most accessed by Indonesians in 2023. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of dental health education with video media on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube on changes in public knowledge and attitudes about the importance of root canal treatment. This type of research is quasy-experimental without group controls, with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample size was 60 people. Respondents filled out a google form link questionnaire that was distributed. The results showed that dental health education with videos on social media instagram, facebook and youtube was effective in changing people's knowledge and attitudes where the p value of the three social media was 0.000 where p < 0.005 (wilcoxon test). Different test of 3 social media with kruskal willis where the result is that there is no difference in effectiveness between the three social media (p value> 0.005). The conclusion of this study is that educational videos on social media Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are effective in changing people's knowledge and attitudes, but there is no difference in effectiveness between the three social media.   The results of this study can be a reference for using social media in dental health education so that it can be more accepted by the community. In the future, research can be developed with other types of social media and factors that affect the effectiveness of these media.

Abstract

Dental health education is a planned and directed effort to create an environment that encourages individuals or community groups to change their old behaviors, which are less favorable for their dental health, to behaviors that are beneficial for their dental health. Behavior change can occur naturally, influenced by the environment, or intentionally and systematically through knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of dental health education using PowerPoint media to improve the behavior of mothers in maintaining the dental and oral hygiene of GMIT Baumata Elementary School students. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test research design. The population of this study includes mothers and students of GMIT Elementary School, and the research sample is the total population of mothers and students in grades I-VI at GMIT Baumata Elementary School, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency, totaling 89 people. The instruments in this study were questionnaires and dental and oral hygiene examination forms. The results of the effectiveness test analysis showed that the behavior of mothers in maintaining dental and oral health (p=0.000) significantly improved, indicating an increase in the mothers' behavior in maintaining dental and oral health. Similarly, the dental and oral hygiene status of the students (p=0.000) improved, indicating an increase in the students' dental and oral hygiene status. Therefore, it can be concluded that PowerPoint media is effective in improving the behavior of mothers in maintaining their children's dental and oral hygiene and in enhancing the dental and oral hygiene status of GMIT Baumata Elementary School students in Taebenu District, Kupang Regency. It is recommended that further research be conducted to provide comparative data.

Abstract

Abstract: Factors Related to Utilization of Dental Health Services for Pregnant Women. Dental and oral health of pregnant women should receive attention because oral and dental health is very influential on the health of pregnant women in general and the health and growth of fetuses that are growing and developing in the womb. Based on the results of a survey conducted at the Oesapa Health Center in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province, the number of visits of pregnant women to check their dental health is still low. This study aims to analyze factors related to the utilization of dental health services for pregnant women in the Dental Clinic of the Oesapa Health Center, Kupang City. This research is a type of analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 50 pregnant women at the Oesapa Health Center in Kupang City. Chi-square test results showed that among 8 factors studied, including factors of access, income, knowledge, attitude, husband / family support, health care facilities, dentist services and care services showed that income factors had a relationship with the utilization of maternal dental health services pregnant at the Kupang Oesapa health center with a p-value <0.05. It was concluded that the income factor had a relationship with the utilization of dental health services for pregnant women in the Dental Clinic at the Oesapa City Health. Abstrak: Faktor-Faktor Yang Berhubungan Dengan Pemanfaatan Pelayanan Kesehatan Gigi Ibu Hamil. Kesehatan gigi dan mulut ibu hamil harus mendapat perhatian karena kesehatan gigi dan mulut sangat berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan ibu hamil secara umum serta kesehatan dan pertumbuhan janin yang sedang tumbuh dan berkembang dalam kandungan. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang telah dilakukan di Puskesmas Oesapa Kota Kupang Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur didapatkan jumlah kunjungan ibu hamil untuk memeriksakan kesehatan giginya masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor yang berhubungan dengan pemanfaatan pelayanan kesehatan gigi ibu hamil di Poli Gigi Puskesmas Oesapa Kota Kupang. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 50 ibu hamil di Puskesmas Oesapa Kota Kupang. Hasil uji chi-square menunjukkan diantara 8 faktor yang diteliti, yang diantaranya faktor akses, pendapatan, pengetahuan, sikap, dukungan suami/keluarga, fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan, pelayanan dokter gigi dan pelayanan perawatan menunjukkan bahwa faktor pendapatan memiliki hubungan dengan pemanfaatan pelayanan kesehatan gigi ibu hamil di puskesmas Oesapa Kota Kupang dengan p-value < 0,05. Disimpulkan bahwa faktor perdapatan memiliki hubungan dengan pemanfaatan pelayanan kesehatan gigi ibu hamil di Poli Gigi Puskesmas Oesapa Kota Kupang.
