Abstract

Music in the charismatic Pentecostal church service plays a very important role for it is believed to be the most suitable means to express great joy in celebrating the victory of Jesus Christ from death. This worship model is believed to enable the Holy Spirit to work as widely as possible for the congregation, so that the events of ecstasy, glossolalia, testimony about having a vision are not considered strange any more.Due to the celebratory nature of worship, suitable songs and music are chosen. The songs are contemporary and not hymn-shaped; the musical accompaniment format is a complete band that is supported by sophisticated sound system, the worship procedure is simple and is led by a worship leader (WL). However, to build a musical arrangement which is able to support congregants to sing in a charismatic pentecostal worship is not easy because musicians are required to be able to appreciate songs, have adequate skills, and good musical knowledge. The purpose of this study is to obtain an appropriate method in teaching charismatic pentecostal music to novice musicians.

Abstract

Computer information technology and software have been a lot of ease in teaching and learning process. Through internet searching  learning materials  easier to do; with powerpoint lecturers more easily explain the course material to students. In addition to being interesting, the delivery can be done more quickly and practically  than by using conventional methods. For lecturers and music students of the church, music software is very helpful in the process of teaching and learning,  because with this medium (up-to-date) what can not be done by someone manually will be realized quite satisfactorily,  for example arranging orkestrasi  or make arrangements with SATB format or with many musical instruments. The result is certainly more real and effective.

Abstract

Postmodernism is a reaction against modernism that emerged since the 19th century. In postmodernism, the mind is replaced by desire, reason is replaced by emotion, and morality is replaced by relativism.  Reality is nothing more than a social construction; truth is equated with strength or power.  Self identity arises from the group.  Postmodernism has a characteristic of fragmentation, indeterminacy, and distrust of all things universal (world of view).  One of the effects of postmodernism is the rise of mass culture and the spirit of consumerism that has spread everywhere, including church and liturgical music. This phenomenon certainly deserves to be addressed wisely so that the church stays on the right track.
