Abstract

This service activity has two objectives. First, increasing the understanding of halal certification for MSMEs in Batam City. Second, helping SMEs in Batam City to prepare halal certification documents. This activity is carried out to overcome problems in MSMEs regarding the management of halal certification. This activity is expected to be useful for MSME Managers so that they understand the urgency of halal products, then MSME products are halal certified, and finally as a means of student learning. Based on the results of the assistance, many MSMEs want to take care of halal certification but are still confused about the preparation. Abstract

The hydroponic pilot project in the Batam State Polytechnic area was motivated by problems with economic conditions and declining health conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic. This project is expected to support the “growing your own food movement” in an effort to reduce unemployment, increase food security and a healthy lifestyle. The hydroponic method was chosen because it is very easy to do and does not require a large area of land. In this community service activity, a hydroponic plant building framework will be made as a prototype of an efficient and efficient hydroponic building so that it can be used by the wider community. This activity is also useful for applying design knowledge as one of the PbL activities carried out by CAD, CNC, CAM, and Fabrication Engineering courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department, so that it can become an arena for higher education participation to support people's lives. The method of implementing this community service activity is to make observations to find a suitable area to build a hydroponic plant house, then the results of the observations are poured in the form of a design by utilizing software so that the materials needed and the shape of the framework that is built can be known. The last activity is making a hydroponic plant place. This activity is planned to be carried out from April to November 2021. Based on the results of the evaluation of the service program questionnaire for product distribution, it is known that the majority of respondents are satisfied with the products produced.

Abstract

The large amount of plastic waste in landfills of around 20% in Batam City has made academics look for ideas on how to minimize the production of plastic waste, especially for households. In order to be able to manually process the plastic shredder itself, a waste shredding machine was created with another name plastic shredder. Where this plastic shredder has been produced in prototype form which aims to improve the design and can simulate in small quantities. The product design process is the initial stage for planning the product or tool to be designed. At the design stage, errors must be minimized. If in the implementation of manufacturing there is a problem. This will take a long time. One method that has been developed to facilitate this is Design for Assembly (DFA). DFA aims to determine the assembly time for each component, so that assembly difficulties can be minimized before the components are produced. This will result in reduced assembly time required to assemble a product. With the Design For Assembly (DFA) method, it will get a simpler time in assembling a product. In the first stage, it took 414.77 seconds with a total of 96 components which were seen in the manual handling and manual insertion tables which were translated into the worksheet analysis, in the second stage the same thing was done as in stage 1, it obtained 266.25 seconds with a total of 74 components. By using DFA several components have been eliminated in the form of reduced bolts and removed side angels.
