Abstract

The mass demonstration of Aksi Reuni 212 attracted large amount of controversy among Indonesian people due news framing of media which signify some aspects and suppress other aspects of the event thus effectively making the coverage subjective. This article aims at understanding the construction of news framing on the subject of Aksi Reuni 212, especially regarding the process of securing permission to perform the mass demonstration, by online news portals Detik.com and Liputan6.com. It also aims at revealing the differences between the two news portals regarding their news framing construction. Model of framing analysis by William A. Gamson and Andre Modigliani is applied to analyze data in interpretative and qualitative manner. Findings reveal that news coverages from Detik.com were more inclined to the preparedness of the government to deal with risks pertaining to national security posed by the event. Liputan6.com, on the other hands, framed the event of Aksi Reuni 212 as a regular, instead of extraordinary, demonstration event that does not need special attention regarding security threats it might brought. Despite differences in terms of how they framed the event, both news portals framed the event positively.Keywords: Aksi Reuni 212, image, and online media.

Abstract

Safari Subuh Berjama'ah is a structural da'wah effort carried out by the Ponorogo Regency Government to suppress people's immorality behavior. However, religious and political relations in the form of structural da'wah continue to be debated. The purpose of this study was to elaborate on the motives of political interests in the structural da'wah framework of Safari Subuh Berjama'ah. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach. The approach used is a narrative approach by analyzing the text to deconstruct the da'wah motive from the news on the online media portal. The results showed that the purpose of the Safari Subuh Berjama'ah is to increase religiosity, build brotherhood bonds and village views as an effort to find out the development and problems of society. But on the other hand, there is a hidden motive behind the activity, which is to use it as a method of political communication to gain popular votes or campaigns. Uncompetitive political and religious relations tend to be more dominant in the political element. So that the values of da'wah which should be oriented towards Islamic teachings have shifted contradictory to the interests of politicians.Keyword: Structural Da'wah, Deconstruct, Political.

Abstract

The Reunion 212 action is a socio-religious movement that has generated controversial responses in various circles of society. The problem is caused by the reporting of every online media which is not always neutral and coherent with the existing social reality. In addition, online media are often used to construct a group discourse to the public. This study aims to uncover the motives for reporting the 212 Reunion Action from the online news portal Republika. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach and uses critical discourse analysis by Teun A. Van Dijk. The data is taken from Republika's news coverage from November to December about the 212 Reunion Action. The findings of the research show that Republika does not publish the news of the 212 Reunion Action group as a whole. Some of the information that is not uploaded in the narrative of the news text is of propaganda value which aims to form the group's image and as an accommodation effort to reduce the negative public response and the discourse is built positive views. However, the inconsistency of the news has shown the assumption of a shift in the media as a source of information into the media as a space for the existence and contestation of a group. the recommendation is that media repositioning is needed to open a wider space so that the media can again become a source of information for the community that is free of elements or independent media.

Abstract

The problem of violating the Covid-19 health protocol in religious activities which is the cause of the emergence of a new cluster of the spread of the virus cannot be separated from the role of Islamic Religious Trainers (Penyuluh Agama Islam). Da'wah as the main task of Islamic extension agents is very important in fostering society and shaping social transformation in the form of changing habit patterns according to the Covid-19 protocol. This study aims to elaborate on the actualization of the dakwah carried out by the Penyuluh Agama Islam in campaigning the Covid-19 health protocol and shaping social transformation. The research method used a qualitative approach with a case study strategy. The data were obtained from the results of in-depth interviews and conducting field observations on the da'wah activities of the Penyuluh Agama Islam, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results showed that the preaching messages of the Penyuluh Agama Islam were oriented to social values, carried out advocacy to the affected community, chose an interactive dialogue communication strategy, built stakeholders with related parties and formed a special organization for handling people affected by Covid-19. The contribution of this research is that the overall actualization of the preaching of the Penyuluh Agama Islam during the Covid-19 pandemic was carried out with model assistance or assistance to realize social transformation, especially in religious activities

Abstract

Poster is a communication, publication or announcement media that contains several elements such as text, pictures, or a combination of both, with the aim of providing information to the public. But in a poster there is a sign containing implied meaning,like a group ideology.  This study purposes to analyze the sign and construct implied meaning that cannot be clearly displayed on the poster and use a semiotic analysis. This analysis uses Roland Barthes's semiotic model which covers aspects of the first, second and mythologi significance of the marking. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach in the presentation of research data. The results of the analysis of the Aksi Mujahid 212 poster showed that there was a hidden vision and mission, the problems that are carried out like the KPK Constitution contained in the poster are only to use the moment. Persaudaraan  Alumni (PA) has the intention to establish the Khilafah as a government system in Indonesia. And the results of this study are expected to contribute ideas and critical thinking to interpret the signs on the poster deeper.Keywords: poster, meaning, action 212

Abstract

Kyai Fachruddin Dasuki as a boarding school caretaker tries to increase the religiosity of the community by a sermon. The great enthusiasm of the community is the result of the construction of the messages by da'wah. The purpose of this research is to examine the construction of persuasion da'wah messages and efforts to form an attitude of public compliance. This study used a qualitative approach that was descriptive and the research strategy used a narrative by retelling the da'wah activities with a descriptive narrative chronology. The findings of Kyai Fachruddin Dasuki's research on da'wah are not only persuasive but more oriented towards the goal of gaining compliance, the community becomes obedient and follows the contents of the da'wah message voluntarily without coercion. The material presented consists of five elements including; reward, punishment, expertise, personal commitment and impersonal commitment. The entire message of this da'wah is conveyed by public communication guided by the book Nashoikhul Ibad by Imam an-Nawawi.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of the descent of the Qur'an is to sustain human life on earth. So that the Qur'an is used as authentic sources in the teachings of Islam, including in interpreting the revelations. The concept of this revelation is an important theme in the discussion of Ulumul Qur'an and to this day still leaves plenty of room for creative and speculative thinking. Several stages and procedures for revelation still open the door to speculative thinking especially regarding the way of Allah and the angel Gabriel and communication with the Prophet Muhammad. All information that explains the existence of communication between Allah and the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. In this research, the study of revelation will be expanded and viewed from a communication perspective. So that the findings of this study can interpret revelation is a process of communication to the Prophet Muhammad.Keywords; al-Quran, revelation, communication

Abstract

This research aims to elaborate the communication strategy of Islamic Religious Counselors because communication strategies are an important aspect in the process of effectively transferring messages to the audiences. Islamic Religious Counselors are civil servant preachers who carry the mandate from the government to campaign for the Covid-19 health protocols through the da’wah (Islamic communication/propagation) approach. Da’wah and health materials are two different materials that pose challenges for Islamic Religious Counselors, especially in the communication patterns used. The research method used qualitative approach and multi-track communication theory by Thomas Tufte and Paolo Mefalopulos. Data were collected through structured interviews with six informants of Islamic Religious Counselor in Kalasan District and non-participant observations on each of their da’wah activities. The results showed that the preaching activities include recitation, socialization, social service and building relationships carried out with a multi-track communication strategy through a combination of a dialogic and one-step flow communication. Da’wah through a multi-track communication strategy has an impact on the affective side of religious congregations including attitudes, knowledge and awareness. Actualization of Islamic Religious Counselor is a viable alternative approach of the government and community in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.Penyuluh Agama Islam adalah pendakwah aparatur sipil negara yang mengemban amanah dari pemerintah untuk dapat mengampanyekan protokol kesehatan Covid-19 melalui pendekatan dakwah. Materi dakwah dan kesehatan merupakan dua materi berbeda yang menimbulkan tantangan bagi Penyuluh Agama Islam khususnya dalam pola komunikasi yang digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelaborasi strategi komunikasi Penyuluh Agama Islam karena strategi komunikasi merupakan aspek penting dalam proses transfer pesan kepada khalayak secara efektif.  Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan teori komunikasi multi-track dari Thomas Tufte dan Paolo Mefalopulos. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terstruktur dengan informan berjumlah 6 orang Penyuluh Agama Islam di Kecamatan Kalasan dan observasi non-partisipan pada setiap kegiatan dakwah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas dakwah Penyuluh Agama Islam meliputi pengajian, sosialisasi, bakti sosial dan membangun relasi dilakukan dengan strategi komunikasi multi-track melalui kombinasi pendekatan komunikasi dialogis dan pendekatan satu arah. Dakwah melalui strategi komunikasi multi-track berdampak pada sisi afektif jama’ah meliputi sikap, pengetahuan dan kesadaran. Aktualisasi Penyuluh Agama Islam memberikan sebuah kontribusi sebagai alternatif pendekatan pemerintah maupun komunitas dalam menangani bencana Covid-19.

Abstract

Burdah is a poetry that has been phenomenal, especially in Indonesia. These poems by Imam al-Bushiri have been composed into various songs accompanied by musical accompaniment. The beautiful chanting of Burdah syair is used as a form of preaching in various assemblies, especially in the Majelis Sholawat Wat Ta’lim Sholawat Burdah Ponorogo City. This study aims to describe and observe the da'wah methods implemented in the Majelis Sholawat Wat Ta'lim Sholawat Burdah. This research approach uses qualitative descriptive. The results showed that from various series of activities the implications of the da'wah method included the bil-hikmah and mauidzatil hasanah methods. Apart from that, the Burdah sholawatan syair was chosen to support its attractiveness and adjust the trends or fashions in the current era, especially the majority of young people so that the enthusiasm of the congregation will increase.
