Abstract

This study aims to prove how kindness conducted by the group, the definition of violations and the value of doing good, can affect moral credential in the form of the leniency of punishment for corruptors. Sample 319 polices and doctors divided into two segments. This study uses a population-based survey experiment method. Participants divided into moral credential with the narrative noble duty, and non-moral credential with neutral narratives. Researchers require each participant to provide criminal punishment and social reactions to the vignette of violation cases due to receiving gratification without (study 1) and with group support (study 2). Statistical correlation test with Kendall's Tau-b finds that defining the behaviour of gratification influences punishment, the correlation shown in invisible victim is rτ = .455, p = .000, and visible victim, rτ = .191, p = .003, but there is no significant relationship between the values of selflessness action and defining the behaviour of gratification as a violation (rτ = -.006, p = .922).  Through the Mann Whitney U test it was found that the moral credential and non-moral credential conditions do not affect the provision of informal social reactions to violators, both the perpetrators of gratification with invisible victims (Mdn = 2), U = 2757, p = .523, and visible victims (Mdn = 2), U = 2778.5, p = .575, and also in a situation of gratification with group support, the perpetrators of gratification with invisible victims (Mdn = 2), U = 3419, p = .937, and visible victims (Mdn = 2), U = 2978,5, p = .119.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to examine intergroup bias among people who use roads in Jakarta. Intergroup bias refers to the tendency to prioritize, treat and perceive in-group members more favorable than out-groups. Three different groups of road users participated in this study: private drivers, motor riders, and public transportation drivers. Intergroup bias is measured as perception bias and attribution bias. The findings show that both forms of bias occur among the road users. Intergroup attribution bias that is found among the three groups are more in-group than out-group attribution bias. The private car drivers, motor riders, and public transportation drivers tend to attribute positive behavior of in-group to internal factor and negative behavior of in-group to external factors. Index of effect size in perception bias indicates substantive levels and represents large effect in the population.

Abstract

This study aims to make intervention model to improve behavior of responsibility in paternal involvement. The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative approach with sample size of 23 respondents. The criterion of respondents are fathers, having children age 2-12 years old, and lives in Jabodetabek. The design of intervention program used quasi experimental one group pre-test and post-test methods with behavioral change techniques through training and application of behavioral activation technique. Statistical analysis of mean comparisons using wilcoxon signed-ranks non parametric test having average of responsibility behavior in paternal involvement in the post-test (M = 32.65; SD = 1,027) is higher than pre-test (M = 25; SD = 4.758). Meanwhile the post-test score of responsibility behavior in paternal involvement has significantly higher score than pre-test score (Z = -4.203), with Ρ value (Asymp. Sig 2 tailed) is 0,000, with 0.05 l.o.s. These results are same with analysis of the qualitative study showed that responsibility behavior in paternal involvement after training and application of behavioral activation techniques have increased. Such outcome proved that intervention model succeeded to improve behavior of responsibility in paternal involvement of fathers in Jabodetabek.
