Abstract

This article describes the academic aspects of the interpretation of Mahmud Yunus which is named Tafsir Al-Qur?an al-Karim. This interpretation is one of the pioneers of Indonesian-language interpretation works that are widely used by the majority of Muslims in Indonesia. He dared to introduce the use of Latin letters for translation and interpretation of the Qur'an. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The conclusion of this study is that the academic aspects of Mahmud Yunus' interpretation work include scientific, social and intellectual styles. The scientific style in its interpretation is a new style that is associated with developing science, so its interpretation seems to emphasize the close relationship between the Qur'an and the development of science and technology which are the main characteristics of modern thought. The social and intellectual patterns are more demonstrated by Mahmud Yunus through the use of elements of common expressions, as well as traditions, customs and socio-cultural phenomena in their interpretation.

Abstract

Ibn ‘Asyur is a modern Muslim scholar, he is also a commentator and expert on jurisprudence. His well-known works of interpretation and fiqh suggestions are Tafsir al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir and Maqâṣid al-Syari’ah al-Islamiyyah. Furthermore, this article explores the meaning of “alhurriyyah” in the context of the maqâṣid al-syari’ah from the perspective of Ibn ‘Asyur. The object in this discussion is his interpretation work entitled Tafsir al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir, which focuses on analysis in QS. 2: 256 and QS. 18: 29. This research is motivated by the new maqâṣid al-syari’ah concept which was initiated by Ibn ‘Asyur since the vacuum of the maqâṣid concept which was previously brought by al-Syathibi. This concept of Ibn ‘Asyur is universally oriented. One of the terms in the maqâṣid al-syari’ah is “al-hurriyyah.” This research was conducted to answer questions about how the concept of maqâṣid al-syari’ah Ibn ‘Asyur is implemented in the QS. 2: 256 and QS. 18: 26. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical. After conducting theresearchit can be concluded that in the two letters that have been analyzed, the meaning of “al-hurriyyah” which is meant by Ibn ‘Asyur is a freedom to choose the religion that is believed and there is no compulsion in choosing it. Abstract

يصف هذا المقال دراسة الشخصية الرئيسية في قصة النبي إبراهيم عليه السلام التي تم استكشافها من خلال النظرية النفسية الإنسانية لأبراهام ماسلو. قصة النبي ابراهيم عليه السلام هو شكل من أشكال العمل الأدبي الذي يقوم على القرآن. النبي ابراهيم عليه السلام باعتباره كالشخصية الرئيسية في القصة لديها شخصية قوية وعظيمة وشجاعة وليس من السهل أن تشكو، وهذا هو المفتاح الرئيسي لتحقيق ذاته وللوصول إلى ذروة الحاجات. شخصيته مثيرة للاهتمام للدراسة مع النظرية النفسية الإنسانية لأبراهام ماسلو. هذه النظرية هي إحدى النظريات النفسية للشخصية التي تقترح خمسة مستويات من الاحتياجات البشرية، من الاحتياجات الأساسية إلى ذروة الاحتياجات. هذا البحث هو البحث المكتبي  (library research) باستخدام المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. تشير نتائج هذه الدراسة إلى أن التسلسلات الهرمية الخمسة للاحتياجات الواردة في النظرية النفسية الإنسانية لأبراهام ماسلو قد تم تحقيقها في شخصية النبي إبراهيم عليه السلام، والتي انعكست في السفر والتفاعلات الاجتماعية التي حدثت خلال حياته. الاحتياجات الخمسة هي الحاجة الفسيولوجية، والحاجة إلى الأمن، والحاجة إلى الحب والانتماء، والحاجة إلى الاحترام والحاجة إلى تحقيق الذات.الكلمات المفتاحية:  قصة النبي إبراهيم عليه السلام، والنظرية النفسية الإنسانية لأبراهام ماسلو، والتسلسل الهرمي للاحتياجات الخمسةAbstractThis article describes the study of the main character in the story of Prophet Ibrahim a.s. which explored through Abraham Maslow's theory of humanistic psychology. The story of Prophet Ibrahim a.s. is a form of literary work that is based on the Al-Qur'an. Prophet Ibrahim a.s. as the main character in the story has a strong and not easy to complain personality, which is the key to achieving self-actualization. His personality is interesting to study with Abraham Maslow's theory of humanistic psychology. This theory is one of the psychological theories of personality which proposes five levels of human needs, from basic needs to peak needs. This research is a library research using descriptive analytical method. The results of this study indicate that the five hierarchies of needs contained in Abraham Maslow's theory of humanistic psychology are fulfilled in the personality of Prophet Ibrahim a.s, both reflected in the travel and social interactions that occurred during his lifetime. The five needs are physiological needs, security needs, compassion needs, appreciation needs and self-actualization needs.

Abstract

Abstract: This article explains about the events of political interest that occurred during the time of Ali bin Abi Thalib, from the murder of Utsman bin Affan to move of power to Damascus by Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical method. This method is used to map the discussion and answer the question why Mu'awiyah chose Damascus as the center of his power and what was the reason to move? After conducting the research, it can be concluded that the conflict between Ali bin Abu Talib and Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan was based on the failure of Ali bin Abi Talib to reveal the case of Utsman bin Affan. This failure triggered domestic political turmoil due to Muawiyah's disapproval of Ali's performance, which seemed to have taken the case seriously. The Shiffin war incident became the entrance for Muawiyah to overthrow Ali bin Abi Talib. Tahkim, which could be expected as a solution to the conflict, actually became a loss for Ali and left the leadership to his son, Husein. Muawiyah's soft power strategy to coup Husein went smoothly. After he assumed control as caliph, Muawiyah moved the center of power to Damascus. This is because Damascus is a strategic area and can provide benefits for the caliphate of Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan.Keywords: Political Interests; Mu'awiyah bin Abu Sofyan; Ali bin Abi Thalib; Damascus

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article describes the conflict between the United States and Iran in the form of a proxy war taking place in Syria and Yemen. The conflict culminated in the attack from US against Iran on January 3, 2020 in Iraq. The proxy war that took place between US and Iran, the plan of the US when cornered by Iran, and Iran’s response to the actions of the US will be explain in this paper. This study uses Offense-Defense theory as a means of analyzing the two countries. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical. The research concludes that the US and Iran are involved in proxy wars in Syria and Yemen. In Syria, the US stands as a supporter of government groups. Meanwhile, Iran stands as a group supporting the government. In Yemen, the US stands as a supporter of the government. Meanwhile, Iran stands as a supporter of supporters. The series of proxy wars led to an escalation due to the conflict suffered by the US. The White House then killed Mayor General Qassem Soleimani, who is an influential general in Iran, for being the actor behind the failure of their plan. Iran then responded with attacks on US military bases in Iraq. The reply is also an important concern for the US to increase security in its region. ABSTRAK Artikel ini menjelaskan tentang konflik antara Amerika Serikat dan Iran dalam bentuk perang proksi yang terjadi di Suriah dan Yaman. Kulminasi konflik tersebut berupa serangan dari AS terhadap Iran pada tanggal 3 Januari 2020 di Irak. Perang proksi yang terjadi antara AS-Iran, rencana AS ketika tersudutkan oleh Iran, dan respons Iran terhadap tindakan AS akan dipaparkan dalam tulisan ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori ofensif-defensif sebagai sarana untuk menganalisis konflik kedua negara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitis. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa AS dan Iran terlibat perang proksi di Suriah dan Yaman. Di Suriah, AS berdiri sebagai pendukung kelompok oposisi pemerintah. Sedangkan Iran berdiri sebagai kelompok pendukung pemerintah. Di Yaman, AS berdiri sebagai pendukung pemerintah. Sedangkan Iran berdiri sebagai pendukung oposisi. Serangkaian perang proksi tersebut menimbulkan eskalasi konflik akibat kekalahan yang diderita oleh AS. Pihak Gedung Putih kemudian membunuh Mayor Jenderal Qassem Soleimani yang merupakan jenderal berpengaruh di Iran karena dianggap sebagai aktor di balik kegagalan rencana mereka. Iran kemudian merespons dengan serangan ke basis militer AS di Irak. Balasan tersebut sekaligus menjadi atensi penting bagi AS untuk meningkatkan keamanan di wilayahnya. Kata kunci: kulminasi konflik; perang proksi; teori ofensif-defensif; Qassem Soleimani.

Abstract

This article explains the comparison of the concept of wahdah al-wujud between Siti Jenar and Mulla Sadra. Siti Jenar is famous for the idea of her divine ontology, which is always interesting to discuss; Manunggaling Kawula Gusti. In contrast, Mulla Sadra is famous for the concept of his ontology called al-Hikmah al-Muta’aliyyah. This study uses a type of library research with descriptive analytical methods. The results show that the concept of wahdah al-wujud between Siti Jenar and Mulla Sadra has similarities and differences. The similarities and differences between the two focus on the form of God and His creatures. As for the similarities, both assume the form of God and His creatures are the same. However, the difference lies in the cause of being "the same" of God and His creatures.

Abstract

This article describes the viewpoint of Joseph Schacht, who argues that hadiths had been used as a secondsources of Islamic law since the caliphates periods. Schacht was an orientalist who studied the hadith usingacademic reasoning. He criticized the authentification of hadiths using Projecting Back theory and theArgumentum E-Silentio. Thus, Schacht denied the truth of the Prophet's traditions the way Muslims do believe in. According to him, hadiths were merely speeches and atitudes of scholars of the second and third centuries of Hijriah who attach their own words to the Prophet to gain Muslims supports for their personal interests. By using a research library and analytical descriptive methods, this article alsopresentthe application example of the two theories in the chosen hadith.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper discusses Clifford Geertz's thoughts on religion as a cultural system. Geertz is an American cultural anthropologist. According to Geertz, religion and culture are an inseparable unit. Through an interpretative-anthropological approach, Geertz wants to see all religions directly through the eyes of their adherents. This approach is separated from functionalism and reductionism and is more towards an appreciation of the peculiarities of the human dimensions of religion, as well as the ideas, attitudes and goals that arise from these religions. An interpretive anthropological approach is applied by Geertz through a case study in Bali and also a comparison between Indonesia and Morocco. In Bali, Geertz classifies the Balinese religion into traditional religion because this religion contains polytheism, local people's mythology and almost no rational nuances in their theology even though they call it Hinduism. Meanwhile, from the Indonesia-Morocco comparison, Geertz found three differences regarding religious activities, namely the first classical Islamic model. Second, the challenge of the scripturalists. Third, outlook on life and ethos.

Abstract

The Qur’an is the holy book of Muslims that was revealed using Arabic, which is very clear and clear. To understand the Qur’an well, of course one must master the Arabic language well. Without it the Qur’an would not be able to be understood. The Qur’an which is summarized in it about monotheism, shari'ah, morals, and so on has various ways of conveying meaning called the Qur’anic language style, one of which is majaz. The existence of the majaz approach in conveying meaning through the interpretation of the Qur’an has various types, stages of emergence and development, and no less important are the problems and controversies of majaz in the interpretation of the Quran which will be discussed in this paper. This research ia an analytical descriptive study. The conclusion of this study is the majaz approach in interpretation of the Qur’an is worthy of attention given because the many divions of majaz and the relationship between the true meaning (the meaning of haqiqi) and the untrue meaning (the meaning of majazi).
