<![CDATA[In addition, access to digital devices and platforms, there are other factors for individuals to utilize information appropriately. If the information on the rampant is not considered in depth, then it is possible that a new social inequality will be formed because there are hoaxes and other content in it. The symbolic interactionism perspective can be an analytical tool to find the advantages and disadvantages that are formed on the meaning of individuals on the acquisition of information around them. The purpose of this study is to describe the new social inequality that is present through the analysis of symbolic interactionism related to functions that present information from an individual. The study is written using a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods and literature study techniques whose content must be related to digital sociology in the perspective of symbolic interaction. The results of the study show that the meaning of the individual as the recipient of information will result in two information utilization functions which in turn can form a new social statement. One side can be used as self-formation according to the correct meaning of information it receives. The other side can be used to disseminate misinformation according to the misinterpretation of information. But before that, these two functions were behind the meaning formed by the knowledge of each individual.Keywords: Symbolic Interactionism, Social Inequalities, Meaning AbstrakSelain dipengaruhi oleh akses terhadap perangkat dan platform digital, terdapat faktor lain bagi individu untuk memanfaatkan informasi dengan tepat. Apabila maraknya informasi ini tidak diperhatikan dengan secara mendalam, maka bisa saja suatu ketimpangan sosial baru akan terbentuk lantaran terdapat hoaks dan konten lain di dalamnya. Perspektif interaksionisme simbolik dapat menjadi salah satu alat analisis untuk menemukan keuntungan dan kerugian yang terbentuk atas pemaknaan individu terhadap perolehan informasi di sekitarnya. Tujuan kajian ini hadir untuk mendeskripsikan ketimpangan sosial baru yang hadir melalui analisis interaksionisme simbolik terkait fungsi kehadiran informasi dari seorang individu. Kajian ini ditulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif dan teknik studi literatur yang isinya harus terkait dengan sosiologi digital dalam perspektif interaksionisme simbolik. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pemaknaan dari individu sebagai penerima informasi akan menghasilkan dua fungsi pemanfaatan informasi yang akhirnya dapat membentuk sebuah kesenjangan sosial baru. Satu sisi dapat digunakan sebagai formasi diri sesuai pemaknaan informasi yang tepat diterimanya. Sisi lain dapat digunakan untuk penyebaran informasi yang salah sesuai pemaknaan informasi yang kurang tepat.
