Abstract

Language takes important role in delivering message or information. Nowadays, many people are interested to learn other languages from other countries, especially English language, in order to be able to communicate with people abroad. Regarding every language has its own characteristics and grammatical rules, thus the interference and integration can be occurred during the language learning process. Related to the development of Balinese Language, the interference and integration from English language and Bahasa could give positive or negative impact for the Balinese people in which these interference and integration is effected in the development of Balinese language itself. Moreover, the existence of those new words, which are resulted from interference and integration, can enrich Balinese language vocabularies which indicating that Balinese language capable to receive the vocabularies development in this globalization era even though it is a traditional language. However, it cannot be denied that it also gives negative impact, because it is worried that the existence of new words in Balinese language vocabularies could cause cultural shifting towards the existence of Balinese language itself. Abstract

ABSTRACT            English language is an International language. Every country has to learn it in order to ease the communication among countries. The English language teaching is also given for those who has serious problem with their acoustic medium. This research is aimed to investigate and analyze the effective and appropriate English language teaching methodology used by the teacher in SLB.B Sidakarya, Denpasar- Bali. The field work research was conducted to obtain the data in SLB.B Sidakarya Denpasar. The data was analyzed qualitatively and presented in descriptive and narrative ways. The methodology and techniques in teaching English language for the hearing-impaired students seem to be different from the normal one, hence the teacher has to apply the effective and appropriate methodology and techniques in order to ease them comprehending the English language. Regarding the disability of the hearing-impaired students, the teacher had to use sign language and total body movement to support the methodology and techniques in English language teaching.Key words: English language, methodology, technique

Abstract

Abstract. Language interpreting is the intellectual activity of facilitating oral and sign language communication, either simultaneously or consecutively, between two or more users of different languages. The process of interpreting involves attending the message, concentrating on the task at hand, remembering the message, comprehend the meaning of the message, analyzing the meaning for the message, and visualizing the message non-verbally in which finally reformulating the message in the target language. The aim of this research is to analyze the process of conveying message from the speaker to the hearer in consecutive interpreting at SMK Dwijendra. This is a qualitative type of research. The collected data was presented in descriptive narrative explanatory. As the results, the interpreter at SMK Dwijendra had understood the system in conducting consecutive interpreting. She applied the note taking technique during the interpreting process. Even though, her facial expression while conducting note taking expressed her confusion in finding the equivalent interpretation. Because of repetition, she could keep on track and did not out of frame in interpreting the speakerâ??s utterances as she was confused to organized the speakerâ??s utterances systematically as opening, main or conclusion statement and frequently loss the information.            Key words: Consecutive Interpreting; Interpreter; Messages

Abstract

ABSTRAK            Penelitian dalam artikel ini dilaksanakan dengan menganalisis peranan para guru dan kurikulum pada setiap jenjang pendidikan dalam meningkatkan semangat nasionalisme demi kebangkitan nasional Bangsa Indonesia. Adapun tujuannya adalah untuk menganalisis sejauh mana peranan institusi pendidikan dalam meningkatkan semangat nasionalisme. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dari penelitian ini berupa dokumen dan informan. Data dokumen merupakan kurikulum yang dipakai oleh setiap jenjang pendidikan, sementara informannya adalah para guru yang mengajar di sana. Data yang dikumpulkan berdasarkan analisis data dan kuesioner. Lalu, data yang didapatkan kemudian dianalisis untuk mencari peranan institusi pendidikan. Berkaitan dengan peningkatan semangat nasionalisme, terdapat beberapa temuan antara lain enam (6) poin dalam pendidikan dasar, lima (5) poin dalam pendidikan menengah, dan tiga (3) poin dalam pendidikan tinggi dalam jenjang pendidikan yang harus diaplikasikan baik di dalam pengembangan kurikulum dan kegiatan belajar mengajar. Mengembangkan semangat nasionalisme merupakan masalah yang serius karena masyarakat cenderung bersifat individual dewasa ini. Pendidikan sebagai bagian terpenting dalam kehidupan masyarakat memiliki peranan penting untuk mengembangkan semangat nasionalisme tersebut. Program-program yang diaplikasikan di setiap jenjan pendidikan harus juga memasukkan program yang bersifat nasionalisme sehingga semangat kebangkitan nasional bisa ditingkatkan.Kata Kunci: Institusi Pendidikan, Nasionalisme, Peranan ABSTRACTThe research of this article is conducted by analyzing the roles of teachers and curriculum of every level at educational institution in developing the spirit of nationalism for Indonesia Country of National Resurgence. The aims is to analyze how far the roles of education institution in developing the spirit of nationalism. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative. The sources of data consist of document and informants. The document is the curriculum of every level of education, while the informants are the teachers. It used content analysis and questionnaire to collect the data. Moreover, the results of the content analysis and questionnaire were analyzed to figure out the roles of educational institution. In order to develop the spirit of nationalism, the final findings of this research showed six (6) points at primary level of education, five (5) points at secondary level of education , and three (3) points at tertiary level of education were needed to be applied on their curriculum development and teaching-learning process. Developing the spirit of nationalism becomes a serious problem as people tend to be individualistic nowadays. Education as the essential part of peopleâ??s life takes a very important role to develop it. The programs applied in every level of education should insert nationalism programs, hence it can develop the spirit of national resurgence. Key words: Education Institution, Nationalism, Role

Abstract

ABSTRACT                The massive development of information and technology (IT) is affected every sector of Indonesian peopleâ??s life. One of it is in language sector. Nowadays, Indonesian language is not wholly used by people even in formal situation. Hence, a research regarding in what level of Indonesian sentence pattern affected by the use of Balinese and English language in Indonesian academic seminar and how is the impact of then intensity of usage of those languages towards Indonesia language. The aims of this research are to recognize in what level the use of Balinese and English language emerging on Indonesian sentence pattern and to analyze the impact of those language to Indonesian language in terms of their intensity of usage on academic seminar in Denpasar, Bali. The data source was taken from the academic seminar held by Dwijendra University, Udayana University, and The Public Hindu Dharma Insitute Denpasar, Bali. Further, the data was collected by using note taking and interviewing technique. The speakers and participants at the seminars were interviewd to collect the data. Qualitative research method was used to explain the analysis descriptively, while quantitative research method was used to display the intensity of the emerging of Balinese and English language at the Indonesian language academic seminar in form of table. As the results of the research, there are 36 words, 15 phrase, and 6 sentences of Balinese and English language emerged at the level of sentence pattern on Indonesian language and there are two impacts regarding the intensity of those languages, namely positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is regarding the enrichment of Indonesian language vocabulary, while the negative one is degrading the official function of Indonesia language for Indonesian society.Key words: Balinese Language, English Language, Indonesian Language, Impact, Academic Seminar ABSTRAKPesatnya perkembangan informasi dan teknologi (IT) tentu mempengaruhi segala lini dalam kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia. Salah satunya adalah dari lini bahasa. Dewasa ini bahasa Indonesia tidak hanya melulu dipergunakan secara utuh dan menyeluruh bahkan dalam kondisi yang formal sekalipun. Oleh karena itu, penelitian tentang dalam level apa sajakah dan bagaimanakah dampak intensitas penggunaan bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris terhadap seminar akademik berbahasa Indonesia di Denpasar, Bali menjadi sangat signifikan untuk dilakukan. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui level struktur kalimat dalam bahasa Indonesia yang menggunakan bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris serta untuk menganalisis dampak dari intensitas penggunaan bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris dalam seminar akademik berbahasa Indonesia di Denpasar, Bali. Sumber data dari penelitian ini diambil langsung dari seminar akademik yang diadakan oleh universitas Dwijendra, Universitas Udayana, dan Institut Hindu Dharma Negeri Denpasar, Bali. Data dikumpulkan dengan mencatat penggunaan bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris selama seminar berlangsung serta mewawancarai para narasumber dan peserta yang mengikuti seminar-seminar tersebut. Metode kualitatif digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis data yang terlah dikumpulkan, sementara metode kuantitatif juga digunakan untuk menyajikan data yang berkaitan dengan intensitas penggunaan bahasa Bali dan Bahasa Inggris dalam bentuk tabel. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat 36 kata dalam pada level kata, 15 frasa dalam level frasa, dan  6 kalimat dalam level kalimat bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris yang muncul dalam seminar akademik berbahasa Indonesia di Denpasar, Bali. Sementara intensitas penggunaan bahasa Bali dan bahasa Inggris dalam seminar tersebut memberikan dampak positif dalam perbendaharaan bahasa Indonesia serta dampak negatif yang berkaitan dengan eksistensi bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa resmi bangsa Indonesia.Kata Kunci: Bahasa Bali, Bahasa Inggris, Bahasa Indonesia, Dampak, Seminar Akademik
