The role of human resources in the company is very important because it is the main driver for achieving company goals. The ability and willingness possessed by employees is the biggest contribution to a company. This research was conducted to determine the level of employee engagement at XYZ company with descriptive quantitative research methods through online surveys using the UWES (Utrecht Work Engagement Scale) questionnaire version 17 questions. From the results of processing 35 data collected, it was found that the overall level of employee engagement at PT XYZ had a score of 4.14 out of 6.00 (in the Average category). Recommendations are focused on improving the engagement aspect which has low scores in almost all demographic categories, namely the vigor dimension for statement No. 3 "When I wake up in the morning, I feel like going to work (VI03)". The contents of the recommendation are to provide breakfast facilities, pick-up employees, or reward role models who are enthusiastic when leaving for work in the morning by assessing the punctuality of their arrival. In addition, to retain employees who have entered the high category, it is recommended to provide entertainment facilities during break hours, for example sofas, massage chairs, and others.

Abstract

This study aims to provide recommendations for a performance management system that can be implemented in PT XYZ. The company started implementing performance management in 2017 which is expected to help achieve company goals. However, the current implementation of performance management still needs to be improved, such as performance measurement which only uses behavior and competencies and there is a difference in the performance management process between the corporate and EPD teams. Three theories from Miles & Snow, Schuler & Jackson, and Fombrun are used to get the ideal direction of performance management based on business strategies, while Aguinis theory is used to identify gaps that occur in application in the field. The identification process was applied by document study, analysis of survey results to 40 respondents, and interviews with Senior Performance Management Specialists to obtain a strategic performance management plan that could be used by PT XYZ. Making performance as an indicator of performance appraisal, communication and monitoring of coaching & mentoring results is a recommendation for PT XYZ to improve its performance management.

Abstract

PT XYZ, a company in outsourcing business, is in the midst of business model change. This change demands two things from the employees. First, because of the increasing complexity of the intended business process, companies need to improve their employees' capabilities. Second, for the process of change to work well and quickly employees need to be in tune with the core competencies of the company. This thesis focuses on achieving that second demand through employee development strategies and programs at the manager level. Managers have a role as a bridge between top management and staff. This unique position makes the manager role as a lever in the internalization of core competencies. The success of PT XYZ instilling core competencies in managers will determine the success of internalizing core competencies across the company. The success of such internalization will determine the success of business model change which will be the future of the company. This will be the foundation of PT XYZ in doing evolution. This thesis produces the design of the strategic scope and program scope of human resource development based on core competency. The strategic scope ensures human resource development will align with and support the corporate strategy. The program scope designs appropriate development activities to build core competencies, develop ways to evaluate them, and ensure managers can apply these core competencies in their jobs.

Abstract

Strategic management has been praised for presenting firms with advantages. However, empirical evidence for its impact on firms under challenging conditions still needs empirical evidence. This study evaluates a unique situation in which firms facing the same external threat could end up differently. The relationships between strategic management and firms’ survival abilities were investigated by surveying 67 nickel-mining firms on Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. Each firm’s level in strategic management was measured by a questionnaire based on a two-dimensional model for strategic management maturity comprising process and leadership dimensions. Meanwhile, a firm’s survival ability was assessed in six facets, including detecting a threat, formulating an anticipation plan, implementing the plan, maintaining operations, maintaining performance, and continuing to exist in the future. Regression techniques were employed in the analysis. Proof of the positive effect that strategic management has on firms’ survival is delivered as the main result. It is further found that maturity in strategic management plays a more dominant role than strategic leadership. The effects of both dimensions in strategic management maturity on each survival ability facet are also explored.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic brought concerns to the corporation with the great resignation phenomenon that happens around the world, especially in developed nations. Workers now have different views after the pandemic, where they view well-being as an important aspect of work and employee value proposition. Therefore it is important to know how Indonesians view this issue. The method of this study is an electronic survey with respondents which are workers around Jabodetabek metropolitan areas, with a range of age between 26-35 years. Surveys are based on three variables, employee value proposition (Idv), intention to resign (Dv), and employee satisfaction (M). Results then analyzed with moderated regression analysis and linear regression analysis, to view the validity of the hypotheses. This research found: (1) employee value proposition significantly has a negative influence on intention to resign, and (2) the relationship between employee value proposition and intention to resign significantly are not moderated by employee satisfaction. Corporations in Indonesia need to search for other means to maintain their employee commitment, as employee satisfaction only approaches by behaviorally influencing its employees. Different approaches like revising company EVP that is based on the right valence need to be done to satisfy and maintain commitment of Indonesian workers.
