Abstract

Keywords: word formation processes, Indonesian slang word,  “Kambing Jantan” novel.Words as the smallest part of language always evolve day by day because human beings tend to use and create new words to make their conversation runwell. In its development, human beings are able to create new words orvocabulary that exists in human’s life. A new word can be borrowed from otherlanguages, invented by known or unknown individual person, or created fromexisting words. The process of forming new words or new meaning of the oldwords is known as word formation processes. People usually use variation oflanguage that is appropriate with their society. In this case, members of a society,especially teenagers, usually tend to use informal language like slang language intheir communication. In this study, the writer is interested in analyzing wordformation processes of Indonesian slang word since the word formation processestake a crucial part in forming Indonesian slang word.This study is aimed to investigate word formation processes of Indonesianslang word found in Raditya Dika’s novel “Kambing Jantan”. The problem of thestudy are: (1) what are the word formation processes of Indonesian slang wordsfound in Radit ya Dika’s novel “Kambing Jantan”. (2) what is the meaning  of Indonesian slang words found in radit ya Dika’s novel “Kambing jantan”.This study used qualitative approach. The data were 61 Indonesian slangwords found in Radit ya Dika’s novel “Kambing Jantan”. In addition, the types of morphological processes applied were derivation, inflection,  backformation, acronym, clipping, blending, coinage, compounding, borrowing, reduplication andmultiple processes. Furthermore, the writer analyzed the data by using somesources like Pembentukan Kata dalam Bahasa Indonesia, Kamusgaul.com, KamusSlang.com, Bahasa Gaul vs Bahasa Baku and artikata.com.In particular, the writer only focused to analyze the morphological processes of Indonesian slang word found in Raditya Dika’s novel “Kambing Jantan”. Therefore, the writer would like to suggest further researchers tocontinue this study. There will be better insight for other readers if furtherresearchers can analyze other aspects of language beside morphological aspectsuch as phonology, syntax and discourse analysis so that the readers deeply knowall aspect of language in “Kambing Jantan” novel. They also can conduct a studyabout slang words in a contemporary poem.
