Abstract

Abstract

The adoption of agile development approaches has significantly increased. Organizations use agile approaches to accelerate software delivery and enhance ability to manage changing priorities. In fact, agile projects experience delays, over budget, customer dissatisfaction for information system projects. Previous research and survey have shown that this problem is related to internal culture and the agile manifesto value itself. This research aims to identify the challenges and limitations of agile projects based on internal culture and agile manifesto perspective. A systematic literature review technique was conducted and obtained fifteen relevant papers. This research use cause-effect relationship analysis to find the root causes of each category. There are five internal culture challenges that are generally related to incompatibility and misalignment of the current organization culture with agile approaches. There are five agile manifesto limitations that are generally related to time constraints due to short iteration cycles that lead insufficient planning and documentation in agile project management. Organization is expected to be able to correctly identify what kind of challenges category the organization is currently experiencing for determining solutions to increase project success.

Abstract

Improving team coordination for optimal performance is one of the main challenges that organizations encounter when scaling their Agile practices. Therefore, numerous companies encounter difficulties in achieving their desired performance due to this challenge. This study aims to address the challenge by proposing a new project management method design for a Software as a Service (SaaS) company in Indonesia with ineffective project management, using a scaled Agile approach. This paper contributes to providing insight into the implementation of scaled Agile method design in an organization. The research follows qualitative methods based on the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology and the eight domains of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), comprising six phases and two iterations. The first iteration involves projecting the current state of the company's activities and resulting in a proposal for a new project management method. The second iteration involves developing and evaluating the proposed method against the PMBOK standard. According to the findings, there are two domains that align with PMBOK and project management in the firm, namely the Stakeholder and Cycle Performance Domains. Team Performance, Development Approach, and Life Planning Performance Domain, Project Work Performance Domain, Delivery Performance Domain, Measurement Performance Domain, and Uncertainty Performance Domain are the other domains that do not suit the standard. Adequate efficient training for team performance, fostering collaboration among team members building corporate culture, and aligning company business processes with Agile methods are essential to overcome some inconsistent results.

Abstract

Agile methods are becoming increasingly popular in modern corporate strategies, which represents a paradigm change in project management techniques. The concept of pragmatic agility has become essential for enterprises to manage the complexities of ever-changing contexts. However, some organizations—especially small ones with limited resources—face unforeseen difficulties while implementing Agile-Scrum software development. In order to clarify the challenges small businesses, encounter throughout this adoption process, this study combines ideas from fifteen studies into a thorough and systematic analysis of the literature. The issues that have been discovered may be categorized into four primary areas: technology, people, process, and organization, and agile techniques. Organizations are able to anticipate obstacles by using a comprehensive understanding provided by the methodical examination and classification of situations. This proactive approach is essential to preventing unfavorable outcomes, as those seen in the past when implementation errors were made worse by culture problems, insufficient support from upper management, and waning consumer cooperation. This research provides small firms with a navigational aid by synthesizing lessons from the literature, enabling them to plan an Agile-Scrum adoption process that is more smoothly executed. Organizations may enhance their preparation, protect themselves from frequent traps, and ultimately maximize the transformative potential of Agile techniques in their developmental undertakings by adopting these insights.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized asset management in Smart Homes. In Indonesia, one of the biggest struggles in implementing emerging technology in the e-government system is connecting the users' behavioral intention with the suitability of the type of work and the technological convenience offered. A technology acceptance and use model is proposed to address this issue by analyzing the correlation between IoT adoption in asset management. The model draws insights from two complementary methods: user behavioral intention predicts utilization, and task-technology fit predicts performance with moderating factors analysis. The study finds that social influence, hedonic motivation, and price value factors are compelling users' intentions to adopt the Internet of Things in asset management. The IoT technology is deemed worth the price for asset management, particularly for state residences, due to its automation, accuracy, and real-time features. It also enhances decision-making, as the asset information is more reliable and secure. This study enriches moderating factors analysis to study the effect of technology adoption. Additionally, research on asset management systems still needs to be improved, especially in the government sector. In conclusion, this study provides insights into adopting IoT in the government sector and its potential to transform asset management.

Abstract

Tax Administration 3.0 calls for tax administrations to be a high-tech adaptive organization with human touch. To that extent, tax administrations worldwide have developed mobile app as a taxpayer touchpoint. As the results of tax administrations’ digital maturity assessment shows major room for improvement, the mobile app development also faced with challenges. This study aims to investigate challenges in tax services mobile app development using M-Pajak as a case study. The descriptive qualitative approach used as our research method is composed of literature review, semi structured interview, open coding, and thematic analysis. Our study finds that M-Pajak development faces challenges related with project management and application requirements. To mitigate the challenges, it is important to ensure that projects are sufficiently staffed. Furthermore, change management must be implemented by focusing on user needs, who largely determine the application success. Meanwhile, fragmentation can be considered as the most critical challenge as it affects other challenges. Diversity of platforms and devices in which the mobile application will be operated potentially affects other factors, such as interoperability, user experience, privacy, and security. This study is important for tax administrations to anticipate challenges in developing their mobile app. Finally, this study also enriches the literature through the investigation of the mobile app development challenges in the context of tax services mobile app.

Abstract

Recently, there has been increased interest in using Agile methodologies in auditing to improve efficiency and adaptability. This study examines whether Bank XYZ in Indonesia is ready to adopt Agile for IT auditing, marking a first for the country's banks. The need for Agile is driven by a significant reduction in audit staff, increased demands from management, and higher fraud risks, all of which call for a more effective and responsive audit process. The research employed both surveys based on the CA Agile Framework and qualitative analysis. It found that Bank XYZ is moderately ready to adopt Agile, showing strengths in commitment to user research, organizational culture, and training support. However, challenges such as utilizing past Agile experiences and enhancing governance must be addressed. The study recommends a gradual adoption of Agile, focusing on building a supportive Agile culture, enhancing training for auditors, and improving governance structures. This step-by-step approach will help Bank XYZ effectively integrate Agile into its IT auditing practices to better meet management's expectations for more business-focused auditing.
