Abstract

In real-life communication, nonverbal communication is far more commonly used thanverbal communication. In speaking, nonverbal communication is almost always utilized.The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of kinesthetic nonverbal communicationmessages in the short film Cap Cip Top! by Ludy Oji Prastama and Wahyu AgungPrasetyo, which consist of: (1) Facial messages, (2) Gestural messages, and (3) Posturalmessages. This study used a qualitative approach and the researcher as the primaryinstrument. The data and data sources in this study are in the form of dialogues thatdescribe the forms of kinesthetic nonverbal communication messages in the film. Datacollection techniques were done by repeatedly watching the film, identifying, andclassifying data containing kinesthetic nonverbal communication messages. Data analysiswas done by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results foundten data that showed kinesthetic messages as follows. (1) There were three facialmessages in the form of surprise, wide-eyed anger, and staring up. (2) There were fourgestural messages in the form of pointing a finger at someone, simultaneous up-anddown finger movements, and thumbs up. (3) Postural messages. There were threepostural messages in the form of smiling, spying, and opening the palm of the hand. Theconclusion is that communication is carried out to realize human identity throughout life.To achieve effectiveness in communication, attention can be paid to the threecommunication elements, namely communicator, message, and communicate (theperson). If one of these elements cannot function well, communication will not functionwell, will be ineffective, and will not produce efficient results.Keywords: Kinesthetic Messages, Cap Cip Top! Short Film
